  1. No wonder you're bitter: Bosley is a big no no. Listen to the other guys and visit a top doc. I'd start with: Feller, H&W, Rahal, Alexander, Shapiro. Best of luck to you. Oh and btw, I am very happy i went down the Ht path, and that's after getting a bad Ht from a hack doc, and just 5.5 months after my second Ht from a top doc....
  2. They have Gary Busey in the ad, of course it's for real! And by the way, I don't own anything about the company, just like Giuseppe
  3. seeker, yes we did meet and yes you were a bit out of it (i could see it in your face). totally normal considering what you just went through. It's also pretty crazy with all those techs and people just popping in and out--after a while you don't know who is who and which way is up. your results looked really good and in true feller fashion the work was ultra clean and refined. i was in the office that day because i was concerned about my growth, but once i looked at the before-and-after shots i feel really good. just remember it's a long road of growth and you'll be fine....good growing to you! oh and feel free to ask me any questions regarding post-op that you might have.
  4. Thanks Bill...I'll continue to update every few months.
  5. I just posted my 5.5 month results from surgery with dr. feller in the ppatient photo section....
  6. Stopped by Dr.Feller's office today as I was concerned about my growth. He showed me my before pics and compared to my current pics I realized I had a lot more growth than I thought. These pics are with no product or concealer.... http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/hairthere/5-mos/1.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/hairthere/5-mos/2.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/hairthere/5-mos/3.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/hairthere/5-mos/4.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/hairthere/5-mos/5.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/hairthere/5-mos/6.jpg

  8. that looks like a great starting point. although it might not be super dense you'll be psyched to have hair again and a nice hairline. if i were you i'd plan a 2nd op to add more density and finish off the crown. congrats and good growing to you!
  9. With your level of loss you're going to need a more aggressive ht doc than bernstein, imo. you need to see dr. feller. i'd also consult with h&w. the good news is that wavy hair will allow for even better results. also, i've buzzed my head to a #3 and you can't see the scar.
  10. rk, you're gonna need at least 3k in zone one. and if your laxity isn't great it might be tough for him to get another 1k. i would expect to have at least 2 surgeries. if he can get another 1k i'd say you'd have decent coverage in zone 2--not super dense, but at least it'll cover the entire area.
  11. I agree that the overall look has improved, however i'm not crazy about the hairline. the graft spacing looks a bit wide. glad the patient is happy though....
  12. nyc-home, by just finding this forum you've gotten off to a great start. you can also do online consults with docs that are out-of-state. however, being new yorkers we are very fortunate to have one of the top ht docs in the world right here (feller). one nyc doc to avoid is karamikian. he uses outdated technology that yields poor results. regarding shaving the recipient area, it does help the doc avoid transecting any existing grafts so while it may be tough to do it is very beneficial.
  13. i don't think you all are giving enough credit to the patient/consumer. if a "who's best" type post comes up and a doc/clinic answers by showing results there should be no real problem. the propsective patient is either impressed or not. take dr. deyarman for example: he posted results and many of us were clearly unimpressed. it may have raised his online visibility, but in a negative way. i agree that it would be nice if more docs became involved, but it's unlikely and i don't think docs who are more active should be prohibited from showcasing their work: let the consumer decide.
  14. I think equally important to seeing good online results is finding happy patients, or unhappy patients. for example, i couldn't find a single happy patient of karamikian online but did find 4 unhappy ones. conversely, i found many happy feller patients. these forums are a great resource but prospective patients shouldn't use this as the ONLY resource.
  15. i am currently wearing my hair longer and intend to continue growing it. my hair is super thick and wavy so it helps. i'm 5 months post-op and haven't seen much growth yet so i'm holding off on posting pics....
  16. Bill is correct, however, i never said i based my choice on online visibility. i visited both docs and saw patients in person and found feller to be better suited for my needs. best of luck!
  17. imo, feller is the top doc in nyc, and one of the top in the world. i found him to have a much more aggressive approach then the others which suited my situation. i also felt very comfortable with him after seeing tons of patient results and not seeing a single bad report on him.
  18. You had 2 hts with the guy and are just now looking for patient refferals? sounds like you're doing this kind of backwards my man....
  19. overlord, h&w are among the top 5 docs in the world. i suggest you call them directly or look for the poster jotronic on this forum (you can send him a private message). he works for h&w and is a very helpful/good guy that has had an amazing transformation. i think what they do is cover half your airfare and put you up for 2 nights in a hotel. trust me, the cost factor should not exist with hts: my first doc charged me $7,000 and he did a lousy job. i ended up having to pay even more for the second ht to have it done right. best of luck to you....
  20. that is one aggressive ht...it's gonna look great man, congrats!
  21. these two statements mean nothing. you want an ht doc that does modern, ultra-refined work. it doesn't matter what they pioneered, and my doc boasted awards too--he still used outdated technology. the bottom line regarding the funds to travel is that if your doc screws up you'll be paying twicefold to get it fixed. it pays to get it done right the first time. also most docs will pay for part of your travel and lodging.
  22. a patient of hers posted results on here not too long ago which looked terrible. the grafts were planted in what looked like cornrows. i'd definitely listen to Bill and consider traveling for an ht....
  23. I've read that it helps speed blood circulation to the area which is why you can/should use it on the hairline. i used it post ht #1 and did see faster growth with that ht, although i have no idea if the minox had anything to do with it.
