  1. I came across an article about this topic which supports FUT. This is just an opinion from a Doctor who does FUT but of course a good doctor. FUE Hair Transplant New York | Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) NY (fellermedical.com)
  2. Your hair looks good, at least from these pics. I don't think you need to rush in another transplant. You can use some hair fiber for a while and let your hair loss settle down. Having a transplant when we have lots of native hair is tricky and a continuous money pit as we will keep on loosing native hair. Medications work only to certain extent. Also we cannot expect density of transplanted hair to be perfect. There is always something left to desire.
  3. Very clean work. Happy growing. Since you are young, its prudent to start with conservative hairline. In case you lose more hair, you should have enough donor supply. And if in 3-5 years you keep your hairline is stable, you can lower the hairline a tad bit. But I think once the hair grows in 6 months you may find this hairline good enough. Because with hair grown the hairline doesn't look as receded as when shaved.
  4. Seems ok for 4 months. Wait patiently for 2 more months before judging it.
  5. I felt my hairline area which had transplant stiff and kind of numb for few months before going normal, and it may have been because of anesthesia. Are you sure its forehead? Wait for a couple of weeks, probably it will go away. You can even try icing it. Some people have swollen forehead but that goes away within a week.
  6. Yes this plan seems about right. 3000 to 4000 grafts in the front region.
  7. My personal opinion will be that you can get the first transplant just for a conservative hair line restoration (1-2 inch) done without touching the crown. Finasteride may help stabilize the crown before you can consider the top. It seems you can also use beard graft for crown area later. I think the doctors are worried that transplant may expedite your native hair loss on the top unless those miniaturizing follicles are reinforced with medication first. Transplants can be tough on existing native hair.
  8. Looks great. You went bit conservative to start with which is very good since you are young. If in future you think your hair loss has stabilized in or won't go beyond NW3 then you can consider more aggressive hairline since you won't have scarcity of donor follicles.
  9. This may not be a common situation. My head hair is dark brown/black with very few greys, but beard is predominantly grey but dense. Is the quality of grey beard hair ok for a BHT ? I guess I will have to dye my hair if I use grey follicles on my head. But other than that , is the quality and thickness of grey hair good enough to be a source of HT follicles? Or there are any concerns which I should be aware of ?
  10. After extracting around 5500 beard graft, it still looks completely natural, and you can even grow it. Thats great.
  11. Dr Diep is a reputed doctor so I dont think it was a terrible decision. If a recommended doctor is around and more convenient then why not. Needing another density addition surgery is not very uncommon as long as grafts were not lost, and donor was not depleted though with FUT you would expect to get it all done in one go. I think you can consider a fill-up FUE which takes shorter recovery time but I guess few pictures will give better idea of the situation. From the first pic it is kind of evident that you needed above 3000 for good density.
  12. This is astounding. He got his hairline lower than his teen days, hopefully he doesnt lose a lot of hair later in his life else he will be in tricky situation.
  13. Fin + Minoxidil for a year and then reevaluate. Not sure if it is pattern baldness though. Stress or environment can also cause diffused loss. Meanwhile try hair fiber. Works perfect on top and crown. Your hairline looks good even now.
  14. Yes I had hairline restoration 1 inch approx , very conservative , and no complaints. I was in the standby list for Dr Glenn and Dr Epstein both but the first opening was at Dr Epstein. The only thing I would change is that while getting his opinion he asked me to get little bit of temples done in addition to hairline which I kind of declined because I was nervous and wanted to save my grafts for crown in case needed later. In the hindsight its better to follow the doctors advice but anyway I am happy with the outcome as I still have great donor area. Only around 1400 grafts were used pretty efficiently. Another thing I look into a doctor is his/her educational background and the Universities attended which seemed pretty decent in his case. But again please do proper research because each patient may need different area of expertise.
  15. So I was also in similar situation. Dr Rose and Dr Nusbaun are good but they still use ARTAS so I had to back down from them. Have seen some bad result from Artas. I went with Dr. J Epstein . Actually Dr Rose had good words for him too. Anyway I did not find anything shady about Dr. Epstein. I got a very conservative hairline (my choice) built with almost pristine donor outcome and very quick recovery using no recipient shave FUE. I am not saying he maybe the best of best but my experience with the doctor and the staff was good. I think people on Forums sometimes present their personal opinions like it is a fact which should be avoided. If you had bad result from the doctor or you know someone who had bad experience then you may have a legit point. I wouldnt rule him out along with Dr Glenn.
  16. Sorry to hear that. the doctor might have placed hair in the hairline to add density as it is pretty common but not sure why he/she wouldnt inform you before hand. Need more before /after pics to be sure though. I guess you need to get a consultation from a good doctor. I am also planning to go for haairline density increase but incidents like these make me nervous and apprehensive
  17. Will need just before and a year after transplant pic. it may be the natice hair got lost. 3450 is not enough to cover the whole front scalp. So probably you had a mix of native and transplanted hair. i am not suggesting that it is not possible to loose transplanted hair but it is rare.
  18. Hi @Looking for HT, Wonderful result. Since your second transplant was also "No Shave FUE " , did your opinion on "No Shave" option change and became more positive ? Any reason to go for No Shave again ?
  19. Great progress. It would be interesting to see the progress of beard graft and how they are blending with scalp grafts in next few months. I am sure it will turn out wonderful though.
  20. So you had a transplant 6 months ago in a rushed manner. The doctor should have advised you better. But since it has been only 6 months , shouldnt you wait before you decide about another procedure. Take your time and do not rush into another procedure. As others have said if you can post picture with hidden face people can give you better advice. I think corrective procedure shouldnt be thought till at least a year after transplant unless it is extremely unbearable.
  21. First few night probably the chances of damaging the graft exists. One option is get a very good thickness neck pillow (travel pillow) and sleep little high. Put few pillows behind you back like you are sleeping on a recliner. Atleast thats what I did.
  22. Hi , seems you have diffused hair loss. It is usually more difficult to work on and the risk of losing already existing hair. I think you should give Finasteride/Dut a try for a year before going for a transplant. Also, in the first procedure I think you should concentrate on just the hairline and front scalp rather than crown. Concealers like Topik are a good temporary solution for Crown. If you are in Turkey and want something local I think a couple of good doctors are recommended here like Dr Bicer and Dr Yaman and probably others can point out some more good ones there. Get in person feedback from few good clinics before coming to a decision.
  23. Hi @Alex, So if you get more info about previous patients regarding Dr Epstein can you please update. As I said my experience was good. But in future if I need another procedure for crown, I need to decide to stick with the same doctor or do with another one. Good luck with your process but as others have mentioned, since this is a repair do not rush and go with a very good one.
  24. I think since the number of doctors who perform this is pretty low. Also I feel its more challenging to make an eyebrow look natural. It has to be perfectly done. I assume the doctor does the incision and implantation rather than a technician. it has to be done in such a way to avoid ugly duckling phase. In USA even normal hair FUE costs around $10-15 per graft so for 1000 graft = 10000 is not huge.
  25. I think work from home has made transplant feasible for a lot more people than before hence huge surge in demand in last 2 years and longer waiting period. I dont think this will change soon. But if flexible joining the cancellation list may speed up the process. You may be told to come for a surgery in few weeks in advance on a particular day.
