  1. Diffused baldness is really tough. Difficult to know when to pull the HT trigger and how your native hair will react. Not sure how is your hairline but concealers will help your crown a lot for few years if you are open to using them. You can search this forum for similar case. I would also like to know more about your finding. I also have some diffused loss on the top. I got HT just for the hairline though and postponed the crown work. Use toppik once a while so good for now.
  2. I had my HT done from Dr. Jeffrey Epstein and my result has been good, nothing much to complain about. I think he used to be recommended here but not anymore. One reason maybe that he is a general plastic surgeon and not just hair transplant doctor. But yes if there are any patients here who got bad result/good result from him , it will be good to know about. Ex patients are the best source of information about a doctor.
  3. Will be good to have before SMP and after SMP pics of the donor area .
  4. Hi, I have not heard of Derma clinic, Unless you personally know few people who have got procedure done there with good result , it may be a risk. Since I dont know them I cannot say for sure they are bad . About two sessions. Its is common for some doctors to recommend two seperarte session with a healing gap rather than a mega session so I wouldnt count that as soemthing negative. But yes it maybe an inconvinience to go through two seperate process. I would recommend at least the second package where the top doctors are involved but financial limitations are understandable. I havent heard anything bad about the starter package at Eugenix but I think you can do more research and get feedback from people who chose that package before. Good luck.
  5. I guess you are now down to two choices a 1) Eugenix with 5000 graft 2) Medispa with 4000 FUE +FUT and a second session. I think two session reduces huge shock to the scalp. I personally think FUT+FUE gives access to more grafts overall but with possibility of scar which needs longer hair on the back. Dr Soni has done good work in past to minimize the scar but again nothing is 100% guarentetd . If you have good beard to use then probably you can just go with the FUE route. If you hair thickness is good and surgery done with correct graft placement 5000-6000 should provide you good coverage. As for crown scalp visibilioty is concerned a little bit of concealer use is common specially when going to events. I think you can go with the transplant. Its a difficult decision and not to rush into until you are fully confortable. I guess others can give you more input.
  6. You are sitting on a treasure cove of donor hair. Anything from 3000-3500 graft probably can still be extracted and will do wonders for your density as your hair and skin contrasts support fuller look. I think 2000 in front third and 1500 on crown area should give you good coverage but I guess when seeing physically a doctor can give you more precise advice. Most of the top doctors you mentioned are fine, in the end its the personal preference and how comfortable you feel during the consultaiton with them. Maybe a two day session of 1500 each day.
  7. Another challenge I see with FUE extraction is when the donor has high count density but finer hair. When doing extraction even if they take care to not not damage the unit being extracted how about the neighbouring 5-6 grafts around each unit. Are the techs skilled enough not to impact surrounding follicles. In the past I have seen cases where the recepient area turns out good but the donor area looks like 4000 graft extracted even when the extraction was 2000 graft, its not common but happens. I guess it again depends upon equipment, punch size selection and skill of the technicians. These variables seem to come lesser into pic during FUT though where the doctor makes incision.
  8. Your trasnplant journey has been good. Your hailine seems natural and your strip scar is barely visible and thats understandable as the last one was done by Dr Rahal. Now if you want to hairline using FUE it should be fine. A good FUE is even lesser visible that a FUT scar unless overharvested. I would limit the extaction to 2000- 2500 Grafts so to make sure that the donor area doesnt look depleted even when you cut it small. Other thatn that with a good doctor you should be fine. Also be conservative with hairline. Not sure if in future you would need graft for crown work.
  9. Yes another surgery would help your hairline and yes the work doesnt look great. How is your donor scar. Since you already have a donor scar I think you can still keep the FUT option open but wth FUT specialists like Dr. Cooley, H&W, Dr Glenn etc or if you are uncofomrtable with FUT then yes FUE is the option. I think you can go with many good doctos referred here depending upon availability and expertise in hariline fix. You can even consult the doctos who do both and ask for their opinion on the route to go forward.
  10. When people say transection rate of FUE is same or even lesser than FUT in some studies, I guess this is when doctors are doing extraction themselves. For an average technician around the world a FUE extraction is more difficult than a FUT follicle creation. I am not sure I will buy the report that FUE transection rate is lesser unless your extraction is done by a top doctor.
  11. 2-3 weeks and will be very careful at recepient area.
  12. 9 Month update: I had good imnprovement from 6-9 months and still improving. The hairline even though not very dense looks natural. Overtime I still may need another front third hairline work in few years as more native hair is lost and crown work as my crown is also thinning (towards NW5). Currently my crown thinning can be very easlity concealed using a sprinke of toppik. I chose a very conservative hairline to start with which is natural for someone in late thirties. Of course now I want a little lower. Not sure about temple area as it seems my hairstyle is fine without temples. I am also on Topical DUT. My future options are 1) Get a 2500 FUT for front third hairline to lower it make it denser as more native hair are lost and then 3000 FUE for the crown 2) Go completely with FUE in future for hairline and Crown
  13. When I did a no shave FUE it was extracted from behind and not sides so i didnt have to shave side. You can easily get around 1500 without shaving the sides. Within 2-3 weeks I was able to create a hair cut with tapered look in the back and no one could tell i had a transplant. I d dint shave the recipient area either. I had to attend video zoom team meetings every day (20 peple) and I took a week off from work and another week away from zoom. But yes since you are 32 its pretty fine to go for tranplant but being little conservative with hairline.
  14. I dont think thats universal. I am not sure about beard but different hair in the body have different growth cycles. Like chest hair and arm hair definitely grow more in thirties. The head hair on the other hand maximizes during teen and then definitely goes downhill. My beard grew thicker during late 20s for sure. Again as others have suggested, before going for transplant make sure you have exausted all other means to make it denser. Even coloring helps.
  15. Thats really a great result with donor scar not visible and your front is covered. In future even in case you need a crown work you will have enough FUE supply. Evry efficient use of donor grafts.
  16. Yes now we have more access to real data rather than just advertisement data hence we can make more informed decision. A lot to learn from people who have already experienced different kinds of hair procedures.
  17. yes this is something of concern, I would not know how my brain would react to a scar before hand even though scar may not be visible. But with the new closure techniques I would want to assume that with good doctos these days the scar is like a pencil line and then you can do SMP or FUE to cover it. Heard good things about Dr Cooley ,Dr Glenn, Dr Rose, HW and few others about closure techniques. But I guess its not guarenteed. Also I have heard of FUT failures mroe than FUE failures maybe because FUT is older when failures were much more common. In last 5 years would be good to know the percentage of success rate of FUT vs FUE among good doctors.
  18. Yes we wish of a world with unlimited donor hair. 🙂 . I would rather want a good hair cloning technique than a good DHT blocker medicine. Medicine for life is no fun.
  19. I meant that is the FUT scar keeping them anxious or worried. and was the recovery very painful? And yes given a choice would they have chosen FUE ? The primary disadvantage is the FUT scar but closure techniques have also improved over the years just like FUE has. I know the recovery time is longer in FUT but it is still temporary. 6 months down the line it wouldnt matter.
  20. This is a very important topic. Next to choosing a good doctor is the decision of FUE or FUT+FUE. I know this question is applicable to NW 5,6,7 but even when we are NW3 or NW4 in 20s and 30s we can get to NW6,7 in 40s or 50s . I am having similar questions even though I am NW3 but I think I will become NW6 finally. 2-3 thousand of good FUT grafts for hairline then FUE/BHT for CROWN doesnt seem a bad idea. Maybe we should do a survey of people who had FUT in last 10 years and regret having a scar or maybe people who have had FUT can add more info about their decision.
  21. I think 2000-2200 grafts to the hairline will do wonders for you. Mine was slightly worse than yours in late thirties and I got only around 1400 but very conservative placement. I dont think you need to touch crown right now. . There are other options you can use for crown as mentioned before Minox, Finasteride, oral DUT etc or concealers do work great. I would suggest that when building hairline have it done for a good depth from front and be conservative. If you can get 2-3 inch covered from front you will be good for many years.
