  1. This ^ I think it's better to know what results you got from the hair transplant. Then you can add minoxidil as an outside variable. Finasteride though, I think if you (or anyone) can take it, should take it. To get a baseline of hair loss before surgery. All the best.
  2. Thanks @Hans - Webmaster 👌
  3. Armen you have been a beacon of hope for many out there (including myself whenever any doubts arose in my mind) from a long time back. Also your results could not have benefited a more giving and beautiful person than yourself. Hair transplant of the century material. I look back at your pre op pics and think that this just can't be you. James Bond's not receding? 💯👌🏆
  4. In response to question two. Minoxidil no. Finasteride yes.
  5. @Al - Moderator I’ve gone back to the gym and I’ve been on the carnivore diet for six weeks now. So far I’ve lost 8kg’s. Yes I think when you try and improve one area of your life it does cascade into other areas too. I was carry a bit of weight so it feels great working out, being more active now, etc. It also helps me keeping busy through this ugly duckling phase! 🤞 😉🙏
  6. I think having a beard section on the forum would be a great idea. This is one area that is hard to research.
  7. How long have you been consistently taking Finasteride? If it’s only been a couple of months I would just quit. Oral minoxidil sounds like a better option if you are getting sexual dysfunction everytime you’ve tried finasteride. These drugs take time to work.
  8. The clinic doesn’t get the 18% tax. The guy does. So I would steer clear of any clinic that would do a deal on not paying this so you get a cheaper hair transplant. You have to ask yourself what other areas are they willing to cut corners on?
  9. I’m not an authority at all. But I would imagine that whey protein on its own doesn’t affect hair (DHT). When coupled with body building I think yes it might cause DHT levels to rise affecting genetic MPB. Maybe. The same with creatine. However this is a theory and I am yet to see any conclusive studies to prove this. The 2009 rugby study with a hand full of players over a few weeks has been debunked for a serious lack of good research design methodology.
  10. I have to ask @Zack305 are you happy with your hair now? That’s all that really matters. If not, what aspect is falling short of your goals? Are you taking Finasteride, etc to slow/stabilize MPB?
  11. The clinic would most likely have deals with a hotel/s nearby if you are having surgery with them. There are lots of cheap hotels in BKK. A week after FUE you could go to the gym (but let your surgeon guide you on activities you can and can’t do).
  12. The area of the frontal scalp plus the mid scalp is 145cm squared in surface. Don't worry about getting hung up about having 30/40/50/60 cm per square cm etc. It's the art of illusion that matters most. I've found that the two month period is the lowest point of the ugly duckling phase (now more than ever. lol). Wishing you all the best @Hysteria and happy growing! 👍
  13. You could check out BKK after surgery but you will be limited from doing a lot of things that BKK has to offer. I agree with @HappyMan2021 that it would be better to do any touristy stuff before the procedure. All the best! 👍
  14. I also tried topical finasteride however like oral finasteride I developed side effects. I was taking 0.25% topical everyday. I'm thinking of trying it again at a lower dose. However I would still recommend finasteride for anyone losing hair (with/without surgery). I just know so many people who take the drug and never experience anything negative at all except for stopping their hair loss and even gaining a little. I'm lucky that 5mg of oral minoxidil works well for me with zero side effects.
  15. I think the 5ar enzyme will genetically follow what it has been coded to do with testosterone.
  16. In the last pic you can see what a punch graft hair transplant (like I had at 18) looks like. You can also see how it has thinned out over time in his senior years. Another reason why medication should always be your first port of call with MPB. I remember 'Jake' (Joe Penny) from 'Jake and the Fatman' TV series had a punch graft hair transplant. His since had it repaired.
  17. I think that if you are considering a hair transplant then you should at least try finasteride. You want to retain as much native and transplanted hair as possible. Even as a Norwood 7 you would still want to protect you hair as the transplanted hair is not 100% DHT proof.
  18. The angle of implantation changes with the surface of the scalp. The angle of the hairline for example changes as it gets to the temples. The angle of the temple points then change. The crown is at a different angle, etc. This is where art takes over from science in hair transplantation.
  19. I can only go by the posted pics @rs525. Going by these two pics you look young to me and looking at the left pic 2,500 grafts may lower your hairline too much. How old are you if I can ask? I think your should try medication even just to ensure you have stabilized the minor hair loss in the temples before you do anything else..
  20. That’s a big difference from you don’t need surgery to needing 3,000 grafts? Can you share some pics of your hair loss with your eyes blocked out? For a clinic to say no is something that you should pay attention to. Did any clinic speak to you about taking medication for your hair loss if you are not already? All the best.
  21. No. DHT in genetically predisposed people causes hair loss.
  22. @hairman4321 for only the fifth month your results in my eyes look excellent. You have many months ahead of you for further growth. 💯👌
  23. Did you try Finasteride or any other medications prior to surgery?
  24. If you go to an elite surgeon who knows what he/she is doing and you’re on medication to stabilize your MPB you should be fine. Genetics though also plays a key part.
