  1. It's probably cited from another US FUT surgeon pissed off he's losing business to European FUE surgeons, so they made the number up and threw it out there as medical literature.
  2. Going to be honest, all this begging is a bad look. Likely a simple once off mistake in communication, but the fact that this posts warrants moderators and ten posters to come and back up Gabel (some to outright accuse OP of lying about a common, basic error) certainly makes me less positive about Gabel, not more. The response from Gabel was very fair and positive, but certainly if I was OP I would look else where when seeing this cult mentality. If his work stands up, he shouldn't need others including a moderator to beg a poster to have a consultation with him to the point they use insults and call him a liar. Take a step back and see how ridiculous that looks.
  3. That in itself is untrue. I started losing at 18, my father started losing at about 30 and he said it was incredibly hard even at that age. Everyone I have talked to and have seen on forums will admit that being bald at 35 or even balding is very depressing and undesirable. It's not some most people just "get over". They live with it, but they would still rather have hair and still often dwell on it. How many here are getting transplants in their 30s? THE MAJORITY. If your donor is reasonable, the best option is a transplant. If you have the finances available for future surgeries, the willingness to endure that and research for a good doctor, you will be much better off in the long run. Particularly if you go FUT you are unlikely to have donor issues down the line. Most people who go to top-end doctors who are skilled in donor management run out of a will for more surgery before they run out of donor. Women being unattractive to bald men (particularly women in their 20s) isn't something that just "disappears" or you "grow out of". Bald jokes and bald shaming isn't going to go away just by waiting. If you have a problem and have the opportunity to do something about it properly and with caution, you should.
  4. Is like the penis analogy, it is not the size, it is what you do with it.
  5. What surgeon are you looking at? This isn't really an important question, but with FUT it is very dependent on your donor laxity - typically 3000 is possible for the average patient and for FUE 2500-3000 is also common.
  6. 6 months to lull it over, consider the risks, the potential that you might need more procedures down the track, the financial burden over the longer term and consult with a few doctors. Also worthwhile doing a few live consultations if you can with doctors in your city to see if they think you're a good candidate, measure your donor capacity and check for miniaturisation. Good to look globally on the recommended doctors here to see what your options are abroad too. Bisanga and Feriduni in Belgium rival any of the FUT doctors in the US or Canada.
  7. Look into Erdogan in Turkey. Also Bisanga, Feriduni and Lupanzula in Belgium. Worth consulting with all of them and seeing what their thoughts are.
  8. Cheers, and I do agree the different perspectives are good. The more research and correspondence with doctors and their analysis of his donor it leads to the better.
  9. Says the guy with more hair at 34 than the average 34 year old, and more than this 23 year old. You sound unhinged. No clue what it's like? You went to Bosley mate, your situation was specific to your mistake of not doing your research. "when you're at the gym/beach/pool, you're constantly worried about it getting wet." How often is someone at the beach or at a pool? The aim of a transplant is a cosmetic improvement that will look natural in everyday circumstances. No one expects a perfect looking head of hair in the worlds harshest lighting or when wet.
  10. If you are happy with FUT and don't mind the scar, FUT is likely ideal. Most consults are just basic email exchanges done through sending photos on doctor websites, with an assessment from the doctor afterwards. Waiting time for a procedure for top clinics is typically around the 4 month mark, with some stretching to 12 months. If I were you I'd book Konior knowing he has a 12 month waiting list and you're not not looking to get the procedure immediately. His work is the best in the US in my opinion, but Cooley is also very good. Best to take the surgeons advice on what approach will work best for you regarding donor management and a hairline, considering you'll likely be a full norwood 5 soon.
  11. Here is a list of top FUE surgeons: Bisanga Feriduni Lupanzula Erdogan Lorenzo Forget this focus on tools, focus on results (patient posted, clinic posted and forum repuation) and consistency of results.
  12. I would definitely consult with Cooley, Rahal and maybe Hasson + Wong. As long as you're prepared for future procedures as you lose more hair it seems like a good plan, particularly when you're obviously in a decent job, you have the time to do so and you have the financially ability to do it without worries. FUT is likely your best option considering you have not stabilised on the proscar. You can also add nizoral 2% a few times a week for a mild anti-androgen shampoo to maybe slow things down a tad. Some photos like Ernie said would definitely help analyse the situation.
  13. MFue makes zero sense. Why in the world would one not just choose FUT if they were interested in Feller + Bloxham? Tried and true.
  14. Going to be honest man in those photos it looks 100% fine, but impossible to tell without pre-ops.
  15. Rappy, clearly you haven't understood anything from reading this thread. There will be no alternative to FUE or FUT, it is a physical impossibility. Just get an FUT or go with a top FUE doctor like Lupanzula, Erdogan, Feriduni, Lorenzo etc.
  16. Messed up story about that surgeon man, luckily it doesn't look too bad and you've done well maintaining. Considering you have done so well maintaining and your age, I would go all out and blast it with a repair using only scalp hair. Beard hair is particularly bad for hairline work because of textural differences. Both Hasson + Wong and Erdogan would be very good options, and you're probably not looking at a huge amount of grafts, likely less than 1400. I'm guessing the surgeon would try to lower it slightly creating a new hairline in front of the plugs.
  17. Mav, I would just like to repost the following that you wrote because I believe it is important for Dr. Feller to answer. "1) your position on FUE seems to just be based on your own experience performing the surgery 2) I understand that you have not attended an ISHRS or other conference in person in years 3) you appear to be unaware of who exactly the new and upcoming FUE surgeons actually are. Dr Lupanzula is a well respected FUE surgeon recommended by this very site and who actually presented/gave a demonstration at a FUE conference hosted by Erdogan in 2015 and which was attended by some heavy hitters like Shapiro, Wong, Feriduni, Lorenzo and others. Yet, you yourself admitted you had never heard of Dr Lupanzula until he posted on this thread. 4) I am not even convinced you have seen a live FUE from one of these top FUE surgeons in recent years. I could be wrong on this point. " Not being aware of Erdogan and Lupanzula as a hair transplant doctor in 2017, especially considering their work on the research and FUE conference circuit is outright shameful. Not only is it a terrible look, but it looks very, very hard to believe. It looks like desperation, particular considering Dr. Feller's claims that FUE isn't popular or growing in popular. Clearly an outright lie or pure ignorance of what the available ISHRS data about the growth in FUE procedures indicates. Shouldn't a top doctor be paying attention to facts and statistics? One would hope so. Again I think everyone agrees with the crux of Dr. Feller's argument as to why FUT is the better procedure for most, however there is clearly a lot of dishonesty and inflammatory, unrealistic rhetoric going on. There are FUE surgeons like Erdogan and Lorenzo who are consistently producing better results than 90% of FUT surgeons when looking at similar graft counts and hair textures, regardless of whether FUT is the better procedure.
  18. FUT yields better FUT done well provides a far smaller total area of scarring FUT does not diffuse the donor FUT takes the best section of the donor FUT does less harm to the grafts FUT maximises the potential of the donor - All that being said, there are some FUE surgeons - the usual suspects (Erdogan, Couto, Lorenzo, Lupanzula, Bisanga, Feriduni) who are getting better cosmetic results than the vast majority of FUT surgeons with the same amount of grafts, but even inarguably rivalling the cream of the crop FUT surgeons like Dr. Feller. And that's all there is to it. FUT is better in the vast majority of regards, but for the best FUE surgeons the vast majority of the gap is closed. Even in regards to yield and consistency, Lorenzo for example has inarguably more results than any FUT surgeon in the world available for viewing online and has the track record to rival any FUT surgeon in cosmetic improvement per graft and consistency of high yields. Some people just don't want a strip cut out the back of their head when they can instead just go to a surgeon like Erdogan or Lorenzo who 49/50 times is going to get results equal to ANY FUT surgeon.
  19. Only a comment on a Belgravia article. Of course not even close to a guarantee, but considering Konior has a waiting list of over a year and refused to send me any more FUE results when I asked for them as he said he didn't need to due to his massive client base I doubt he needs the abstract marketing. "HERE Is the Final Word on MATTHEWs HT. I was an assistant to MM's agent at CAA in Los Angeles. Strictly speaking he had 3 agents but I became point person for main agent, helping w MM's sundry affairs, coordinating everything from doctors appts to real estate purchases and vacation travel plans. A Dr Konior in Chicago performed 2 different HT procedures on MM over 4 month period. I know because I coordinated w Konior's office. End of story." Wouldn't be surprised.
  20. 4 Months. Beginning to get somewhere, but there are a few problem spots at the front of the hairline with minimal growth. Hoping I can get similar progress of the past two weeks up to 6 months and it should be looking pretty good. At this rate I'm probably a month off a decent cosmetic improvement and I'll get my first haircut at the five month mark which should help balance things out with the native hair.
  21. Not if you're one of the unlucky ones to get permanent shockloss around the scarline or a hugely stretched scar even with a highly competent doctor. Let alone a poor yield AND scar issues. There are tradeoffs and risks with both.
  22. It makes me laugh seeing these arguments on both sides play out over and over again. Ultimately though most people can have their needs met by FUE and don't want a strip cut out of the back of their head.
