  1. This is IMO completely nonsense, and another proof that pharmacist and most medical doctors know nothing about FIN :-( However, FIN is dangerous when your wife is pregnant as she should touch the splitted pills e. g. quarters from 5 mg. This can give birth defects to the baby. But many members here have become a father on FIN (I think Spex even got twins).
  2. No one can give you a guarantee. If someone tells you he gives a guarantee he is a liar, cause no one can give you a refund of your lost grafts (and a graft sis worth much more then the money you have lost).
  3. I personally do agree with this: "FUT first, FUE later" gives you most lifetime grafts. But: Your argument is weak. Ok, Konior says so, but *** says otherwise. Feller claims sth. and Lupanzula claims otherwise. Who can we believe? That is the basline of this entire discussion. We have to make our own mind, based on the data we have.
  4. I like your math approach, especially as some members an even clinics have proven to have some major issues with math (to calculate %, to distinguish between % and %-point, to calculate density). However, in your approach, you might (!) miss the point of e. g. donor laxity. If FUE reducses laxity due to scaring then this could explain the benefit of FUT first and FUE later. It is just a comment, as ifetime grafts is not my main concern, I did not focus on it.
  5. Maybe I really made a mistake. The main point of my post was the origin of my discussion with Dr. Feller: Would a reputable FUT/FUE clinic recommend FUE first (only)? The answer is here for everyone to see. Seems everyone is now focusing on this badly chosen word. You are right with your questions. Of course the 5000 FU is just an assumption (maybe I did not made that clear enough). But my hairloss is very a-typical and it is exactly as my fathers. Also, I am almost 40 years old and I responded well to FIN. I know it is an estimate, but let us call it an estimated guess by 3 clinics who saw me in person and also reviewed my family pics. 10 000 FU is on the top end, you are right. But 3 recommended clinics came to this conclusion and I still (!) recalculated it with a tool provided by a 4th clinic (which was presented in an international hair transplantation workshop), based on the measurements by the clinics. What else can I do? Also, I am above average in density in all 3 areas (~100 FU/cm2) and above in density and number of multis. My donor is soo thick, it makes the rest of the hair look even weaker 😕 6 month! You are one of the most dedicated an experienced members, but also one of the most “outspoken”. I doubt that I can change your mind and I accept your opinion. We just have to agree to disagree. IMO Dr. Feller/Bloxham refuted themselves when they said they expect 99 % growth in a minor case. It is simple: Either the 3 forces can be overcome or they cannot. Obviously they can!
  6. Some members might remember the story about the “Interview” with Feller, Feriduni (as a FUE/FUT clinic) and myself, which finally never realized. Nevertheless, I went to a second consult with Feriduni. Please be aware, I made an appointment for a consultation and not (!) an interview. Therefore, I only could ask some questions directly related to my case. I also did not record (of course) the discussion, but made notes before and after which I want to share. I also mentioned that I am in an online discussion about strip vs. FUE. - Dr. Feriduni recommended FUE as the right procedure for me (same did Bisanga and Lupanzula but the latter is performing purely FUE so maybe that doesn’t count). - This time I mentioned directly to Feriduni that I am open for strip if the results woud be significantly better - I also mentioned, that in the past I always had my hair long enough to disguise a good strip scar - Feriduni was confident that he could get results with FUE very close (or even similar) to his FUT and I had enough grafts available (which makes the lifetime graft count not a decisive factor for me) - He mentioned that I am (most likely) a good FUE candidate (hair type) - From what I understand it required many years (starting in 2003?) to come from 100-200 grafts a day to the numbers/results he does nowadays - He also mentioned that he would defend his opinion (almost similar results with FUE vs. FUT ) against anyone and actually there is a lot of discussion in the FUE conferences about this topic - Interesting point was that he told that on both sides (pro strip and pro FUE) there are “extremist” in both their opinion and their language (he mentioned the clinics names, but I will not publish them) - He admitted that there is very poor scientific data (FUE vs. FUT) and we had a brief discussion about the scientific articles and how they are edited (would be worth an extra discussion). - Interesting side note: Feriduni briefly explained different FUE extraction methods depending on the patients grafts (which helps reduce trauma but reduces grafts/session) Background to put the recommendation of the clinics into context: - I am 38 years old - Currently require totally 2500-3000 grafts - From my age and family history lifetime grafts required are ~ 5000 (if meds stop working) - All clinics estimated around 10 000 grafts available via FUE (and above average thickness and number of multis) As I am always suspicious and do not trust any doctor blindly (not Dr. Feller, not Dr. Bloxham nor Dr. Feriduni): - I used the “coverage value” from Lorenzo/Erdogan to calculate the available grafts myself and also ended up with around 10 000 grafts - Before I go for a big FUE session, I will do a minor fix for my W-Shape hairline (<300 grafts), which will hopefully tell if I am a good FUE candidate (how easy the grafts can be extracted) - If I am not a good candidate I will do FUT for the major area (crown) Maybe some will find this summary helpful.
  7. Very nice result! Natural and dense, just nice. Could you share some insight why FUE was chosen? If you already have a scar, I would have gone FUT again. Was he stripped out or was the scar too low and he didn't want a second scar? Why was the prior FUT result poor?
  8. Most conspiracy theories are nonsense! If someone (=one company) finds a "cure", either permanent or non-permanent (= you would have to continuously take the medicine), this company would earn a mountain of cash. Probably would be the biggest company in the world for years to come. The problem is that medicine is no real science yet, cause we do not understand much about the human body still nowadays. Most treatments from penicillin to Viagra to finasterid and minoxidil are found by coincidence (side effects of the actual purpose or just luck). Therefore we can have a cure tomorrow or in 50 years. If you want to look in to conspiracy: In case someone will treat birth defects (and hairloss is sth similar) prenatal than the benefit of a cure will go down dramatically over time. Hence, no one will do research any more. We will die old and bald...
  9. I have to agree with voxman. Your Goal and (!) your Status make SMP the only Option in my opinion. Maybe a Combo of FUE and SMP would be Option 1b.
  10. It looks like there is some improvment from 6-8-8+. Maybe you are really one of this late growers. This would be the second case I have seen. However, your Pictures are also always strangely parted (or it appears like that). Maybe with some more length and a side part you would be already ok...ish.
  11. There is a video of Feller & Bloxham which claims very low downtime for FUT. Just 2 weeks or so. You might wanna look for it and discuss with them.
  12. This is exactly what I was saying. If this study is "legit "then the "forces" can be overcome! End of story. Only options coming to my mind that this debate is not over are: - Was there a non-standard method used e. g. very large punch (which helped in yield but cannot be carried over to larger cases) - This patient was an "outlayer" with very good characteristics But the answer of Dr. Bloxham that he even expected this outcome speaks volumes.
  13. Good luck, some others (inlcuding myself) wait for month to get some answers 😉 I am not sure if there is a study about it, but like HLS2015 said: Based on pure math it is clear that FUE greats more trauma/scarring even when the effects underneath the skin are not considered.
  14. Hairloss hits you hard at any Age. If you care about your appearance, you will care about it a for your entire life. And, you are faster 35 then you think ;-) There are countless examples of People in their 50, 60 or even 70 proving this. That beeing said, when you are Young, you will be most likely alone with you hairloss. When you are 40 there will be many People in your peer group experiencing the same. An top of that, many People will be more confident when they Age. Being bald Young means: a) you do not have this confidence yet and b) maybe you do not have the Chance to ever get it.
  15. Thank you for ypur presentation. Please keep us updated. I have a smiliar W-Shape hairline and my 2nd consult with Feriduni next week.
  16. Sorry to be so harsh: This is basic knowledge everyone who got a HAT should know. You should have read some more and even worse your clinic should have told you more about a transplant and the timeline.
  17. How can you tell that from this very poor pictures? IMO the TO has to make some effort (for pictures) and then he can get some advice.
  18. We understand that you are unhappy. You had rightly had high expectations as a NW2 (higher than a NW 4 for example). But no one can help you, advice you or actually comment with this poor pic, sorry.
  19. Very interesting study. And due to the fact that they are looking for new candidates, I expect very promising results. Otherwise it would be unethical to continue. My questions: - Will the shaft Diameter be measured in the recipient? The effect of the diamter has been a big dicussion Point in this Forum. - If yes, will it be compared with the donor shaft Diameter? I expect the fue to be larger as it is from the sweet spot. Can't wait to see the final results.
  20. There is an entire Thread about it! Why do we not discuss this topic there were it belongs? This will avoid confusion. There are enough unanswered questions here without mFUE.
  21. Mmh, if I see an issue than it is not density. It is hair characteritics (which appear "wiry") in the front and maybe Skin collor in the same area. Of course you could have a small FUE add on Job done. ~500 grafts will create a wall of hair in my opinion. But I would adress the other Topics first. Good luck.
  22. Counting hairs in the shower is nonsense: If you are completly bald, you won't shed a single hair. You still have AGA ;-)
  23. Dr. Bloxham, You make it really hard to believe, that you are interested in a discussion. Your 180 ° turnaround doesn’t help either.
  24. Sorry, missed your reply. Actually, I have Troubles to understand it. Your "Problem" is made for SMP especially with the fade. It will look and feel perfect when made right. Regarding your holes. Yes, they look a Little wide (maybe you just tend to wider scaring? Could be an Illusion as well. I would make a attempt on a "MS PAINT" an just add one black dot in the middle of some white aeas. Maybe it appears normal. Or at least you know.
