Don't get a haircut before your surgery Dr. Lindsey
bismarck replied to Dr. William Lindsey's topic in Open Hair Loss Topics
Thanks. Not something most people think about. -
What I was getting at was trying to see the punch size and the pattern of harvesting at the donor, so post procedure but without bandaging is what I meant. You may not have these pics.

Thank you to you as well, you are certainly very conscientious with documentation. Do you have pics of the donor at the time of surgery without bandaging?

Looking for advice, which of these FUE surgeons would you choose?
bismarck replied to bw77's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
I am not going to directly post cases with subpar results, but my only suggestion is that you look at the foreign language forums. -
Tough to give advice with such limited info. Need before and after pictures, meds, age and surgeon.

Looking for advice, which of these FUE surgeons would you choose?
bismarck replied to bw77's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
Are you kidding? Did you see what that Pekiner has done to people? Diep is not always perfect but compared to Pekiner, or really almost anybody in Turkey.. come on. Turkish transplant docs, for whatever reason, have a real problem with ethics and with poorly monitored surgeries. Doganay is probably the most infamous but it is a common issue that is able to continue due to the ignorance of the average medical tourist. Let's not pretend this isn't an issue with essentially the entire country. There are exceptions, but I've seen this so often it's a joke at this point. Once their economy stabilizes, perhaps we will see sincerity and ethics akin to Western Europe and America, but right now, if you're going to Turkey, you are walking into a very complicated situation. -
Clean aggressive work. Would love to see pics of the donor if possible. Happy growing.

I don't think the FUE vs FUT debate as far as yield is anywhere close to settled. Many of the elite surgeons on here still actively disagree. I have yet to see a surgeon come out against the procedure they themselves offer, so I suspect marketing bias has a large role. As you know, there are no well done studies comparing the two. I also think "FUE and FUT" as opposed to "FUE vs FUT" is a rose-colored distinction. For most, it is a very much VERSUS question.
-
If things had evolved this would make me even more hesitant to move forward in light of the OP's original point. But do you think things really have changed that much? Yes, the USA does more FUE now but that wasn't due to innovation but rather following the example of Europe. I don't think there have been any major advancements in hair loss for quite some time unfortunately. In some aspects it may have even gone backwards (ie. the tech mills).

Low androgen activities and high cardiovascular health. It's a big topic.

This is another ASMED catastrophe. They should be ashamed to ever touch another patient's head. How are they even allowed to post cases on here at this point? Modern day Bosley. You will have to go to one of the high end repair specialists -- Lorenzo, Ximena, Couto, Freitas, Feriduni, Konior, Hasson. They will each try their best. There are no guarantees. Because of the multiple procedures, your case is about as difficult as it gets. If anyone can do it they can. I don' have a better way to narrow it down than those, though I suspect Lorenzo or Feriduni will be your best best because they seem to have softer fingers.

That guy who tried to self FUE

And people give me grief for *cutting* my own hair. -
Thank you for following up. Good luck and please keep us updated on how everything works out with you and Dr. H.

Might add a few others like Cooley, Wesley and Diep to that list. Everybody has one or two rough cases, it is inevitable. You just want to know that if the worst case scenario happens and you have a bad result, you trust that surgeon enough to accept that it wasn't a lack of skill, but your specific physiology. What has led you to choose FUE over FUT?
-
If you are focused on Europe, Ximena Vila, Lorenzo and Hattingen are strong if you have the budget.

Based on brosciency observation of the excellent hair among the homeless population where I live, I don't shampoo unless to apply Nizoral. Also coconut oil massaged into scalp as it has a more solid consistency and I believe is more resistant to oxidation than carrier oils such as jojoba. You may have to allow some time for your natural sebum production to decrease because your scalp is trying to protect itself from the constant washing that it's grown accustomed to. I did read somewhere about it being within the actual sebum. I believe this is the theory behind the salicylic acid treatments that some have tried. I'm not sure if washing your hair has any effect on its levels at the level of the dermal papillae. My hunch is no. You could also raise the inverse possibility that sebum is protecting the hair from free radical damage due to desiccation. A way to test this would be to apply sebum from the scalp of a balding individual to that of one with hair, or vice versa, and see if there was an effect. Could also attempt across genders and from different parts of the body. I don't believe this (gross) experiment has been done, but if anyone finds a study it would be interesting.

How to find best surgeon - Ultimate Guide
bismarck replied to Rolandas's topic in Open Hair Loss Topics
Great video. It is a little strange to see certain surgeons mentioned on a specific forum, only to be absent from another. The absent reach of Konior outside the US, Xima Vila and Lupenzula in the states, etc. I think its just a question of communication and volume. -
That guy who tried to self FUE

I mean I wouldn't sell him short just yet, he clearly has more training than most of the transplant clinics in Turkey. JUST KIDDING. Don't get offended people. -
Will the Coronavirus Affect The Hair Transplant Industry?
bismarck replied to Melvin- Admin's topic in Off-Topic Posts
Asymptomatic, highly infective with a bimodal infection rate and increased genetic susceptibility in non Asians. What a viral engineering job by that pangolin. Still, I imagine if Columbus had stumbled in to North America today, the Native Americans would have similarly bewildering thoughts about measles, smallpox and syphilis. I do hope most clinics have done the responsible thing and shut down operations until at least summer.
