  1. This is a great point. When I was trying to figure out where to post my transplant experience and progress photos, I wasn't sure which one of these to pick because they both contain the same types of threads. I eventually chose "Experiences" because I don't have the final results to show off yet, but I do see many diaries located in the "Results" section too so both seem to serve the same function.
  2. Photos can be very deceiving. I took photos in my donor area under bright lights and both users here and doctors (via virtual consultations) told me they were concerned about my donor area being strong enough. In reality, it was just cut down very short, to a 1 guard, and the bright light made it look a lot thinner than it actually is. I went for a consultation in person and learned that my donor area was quite good and I went ahead to book my transplant. Are there any reputable surgeons in your area? I would go for an in-person consultation if possible to have a doctor evaluate your donor area. Also, you're definitely not the first to be turned down, I've seen several posters on this forum get the same feedback from ASMED.
  3. I had the same thing post-op, about a week after. Noticed a couple areas where the grafts seem to have disappeared and there was a gap where there wasn't before. Did some reading up on this and I forget the exact reason, but it seems to be totally normal, something about the skin tightening up during the healing process and the grafts clumping together. It won't affect how it looks when it grows out so no worries.
  4. Awesome result, this guy has a perfect head of hair now and like Spanker said, his donor looks to still be in great condition with many potential grafts left.
  5. I've been on finasteride for over 10 years now and all I can say is that I wish I had started it sooner. Did wonders for my hair. I actually saw a considerable amount of regrowth and it slowed down my hair loss to a level where I can barely notice it. I haven't had any side effects except for maybe the first couple weeks, but even then I'm not sure if it was all in my head or not because I had read so many horror stories about it. You can always stop taking it or lower the dosage if you find you're very sensitive to its side effects.
  6. Definitely early growth! That looks more like 4-5 month results to me to be honest (it's close to where I am now at 4 months). Should be a great final result!
  7. I didn't have FUT but I've followed a bunch of FUT cases on this forum, and it seems like the scar improves considerably over time. Your scar looks like it's healing well, and you're still very early in the process so it's only going to get better from here. Not sure how much a poll would help to determine how short you can go in the back because everyone's situation is very different (healing, hair characteristics, etc). How short are you hoping to be able to go in the back? A 3 or 4?
  8. Looks great fortuneplant - lots of growth in the past month! I just officially hit my 4 month mark 3 days ago so we're on the same hair transplant schedule I know what you mean about checking your hair all the time, I'm doing the same myself, and it's much worse now that I'm 4 months in. I keep having "Is this it?" paranoia which I know is completely illogical considering the timeline. Although I haven't bought a microscope yet lol, but maybe I should!
  9. Looking good Macbernal, and shedding right on schedule. The post-op work looks great as usual with Dr. Hasson so I'm betting that you will be very happy with your result.
  10. Personally, if my hair loss was more advanced, I would've definitely considered FUT and just accepted the fact that I'd have to keep my hair longer in the back to hide the scar. It's a worthwhile tradeoff to have decent hair in my opinion. Although I've seen Dr. Erdogan achieve some impressive transformations >5000 grafts with FUE, so that's certainly an option if you're a good candidate, and one I would've explored myself. All depends on your specific case though. I would talk it over with a doctor who does excellent work with both FUT and FUE and see what he or she recommends.
  11. I'm also following hitherehair My thread isn't setting the forum on fire either haha, I think there's just not as much activity on here as there used to be. Lots of people viewing the threads though so don't think your updates aren't helping people. Glad to see you've started growing!
  12. Rahal over Bernstein without a doubt. I've seen many fantastic results from Dr. Rahal, and very few (if any) from Dr. Bernstein. Not that Dr. Bernstein isn't a good doctor, he seems very knowledgeable, but I think he's from an older school of hair transplant docs and goes for much more conservative results. Happy to be proven wrong though if someone has a great result from Dr. Bernstein to share.
  13. Thanks razzy! Ya I'm very excited, I didn't even realize just how much more growth there was until I looked at the pics side by side. That's why I'm going to continue taking regular photos because otherwise it's hard to notice the changes when you're checking day to day.
  14. Looking good fortuneplant! Looks like you're right on track. A bit confused by your timeline though, you posted your Month 1 results on January 23, Month 2 on January 26, and Month 3 on February 11. When was your surgery date?
  15. Haha yes I definitely did, fortuneplant, and I don't see the habit dying anytime soon! It's OK though, I'm going to let myself indulge in some mirror obsession at this point because it's the most fun phase of this whole ordeal and watching my own hair transplant grow is what I've been looking forward to for years now.
  16. Totally normal and very common. I would just leave it alone until it goes away, mine usually disappeared after 2-3 days, and I continued to use Rogaine foam even when I had the pimples.
  17. 4 Month Update I'm nearly at the 4 month mark now, and over the past month I've seen significant growth! My new hairline is once again starting to become noticeable which is great because I was very sad to see it disappear after the initial shed haha. Not much to report other than that I'm very happy with the progress at this point. Although I do have to say I'm being more impatient than I thought I would be and I find myself investigating my scalp in the mirror on a regular basis to search for new signs of growth. It's a strange phenomenon actually, watching the transplant grow, because I had expected it to be similar to when I started finasteride. After 1-2 months of being on fin, I noticed all of these follicles "waking up" simultaneously, and the growth came in quickly. I know this is far from everyone's experience on fin, but I responded really well to it. With the transplant, though, I'll search for signs of growth in the mirror every day, but aside from seeing some very thin hairs popping through, it's hard to notice progress this way. Instead, there were just a couple of moments in the past month when I looked at myself and was like, "Oh wow, where did that come from?" It took me by surprise, like all of a sudden the hair just looked thicker and I didn't see it happening despite my regular check-ups in the mirror.
  18. Haha spot on and 100% accurate. Been seeing a lot of these posts lately.
  19. I think Dr. Wesley is highly underrated on these forums as I don't see many people here talking about him, but his work is top-notch and I'm always very impressed by his results. His work is very natural and he seems to get excellent results with a conservative number of grafts. I tried once to go for an in-person consultation with Dr. Wesley but they were booked for months ahead of time, which is surprising considering they're one of the few clinics that charge for the consultation. I suspect he's in high demand in NYC.
  20. Lol this is great, love how you just casually log back on here 22 months post-op to show off picture perfect results like this. Great hairline and amazing density! You must be very happy.
  21. I agree with mosd, this is a killer result and your hair looks perfect now. I would personally hold onto that 2000 grafts for insurance against future loss rather than fine-tuning your already spectacular results, but I'm relatively risk-averse when it comes to this type of surgery. Your thread has been very helpful so thank you for that. I'm at nearly 4 months post-op now and your frequent pics and updates helped set my expectations about how gradual the growth process actually is. If I end up with results like yours I will be thrilled.
  22. Wow this a crazy result especially considering the number of grafts used. Amazing work! Would love to see some post-op pics to see graft distribution.
  23. Looking good Ozzie! The hairline is perfect and I think this is going to grow out very nicely. Looking forward to seeing your results.
  24. BrightIdea, I believe you went to Dr. Konior correct? Did you email him the photo? He's the best person to ask about this for sure, and in my experience he is great with communication so you'd probably hear back from him pretty quickly. Not sure whether or not those are lost hair follicles, but I can say that when I was shedding it started later, and it was only the hairs, no bulbs attached.
  25. No need to be worried at all at 3 months. 3 months is considered early to start seeing growth. I'm at 3.5 months myself and I know how hard it can be not to obsess about the results and search for signs of follicular action in the mirror. Stay patient and hang in there!
