  1. Thank you very much for sharing. Excellent decision to wait a few years. I'm in the same boat as you myself, however, I'm headed towards a Norwood 5 potentially 6, so I am going to wait a few more years before pulling the trigger.
  2. No worries! Best of luck to you. May I ask you if you had any consultations with any of the European surgeons before deciding to go to the U.S.?
  3. Hey! I just had an excellent experience with Dr Konior via an email consultation directly with the Doctor. (His email can be found on his website). He answered all of my questions in absolute detail with the sincerest honesty imaginable. Also, I am a big fan of the fact that he does most of the work himself. He also wanted to ensure that my expectations were in check. I recommend sending the doctor an email and if possible see the doctor in person. I just got the impression that he really had my best interest in mind. I like that quality in a person.
  4. Hi Joe, This is a very nice result. What a difference it makes to his appearance. How large was the area covered in cm2?
  5. ICC, you mentioned that the patient has very fine hair (35-40 microns). Very fine Fine Medium-fine Medium Medium-coarse Coarse I have been told by a top doctor that I have medium-fine hair. How many microns would that be, approximately?
  6. I've spent over a year researching the s... out of the hair transplant industry, reading reviews of every doctor imaginable and viewing 1000s of pictures in the process. Matt, in my opinion, has a very nice and natural looking hairline. I am not an expert, and still have so much to learn. But I can comment on what is natural, and I think it looks as natural as it is going to get (unless a huge amount of grafts were to be used). The problem with hair transplants right now is that hairs will never be spaced as closely together as someone with native density. Does anyone like football? Several young Colombian and Argentinian players have extremely high native density in the hairline. That is 100% natural and it cannot be obtained via hair transplantation unless a huge amount of grafts were to be used. And as we all know, unfortunately, supply and demand still control the marketplace. This is what I consider unnatural: 1) Unnaturalness is apparent when a Norwood 5-6 decides to have a Norwood 1.5 - 2 hairline. There is a large area to cover and it is important to make the hairline age appropriate in correlation to the pattern of baldness. 2) Unnaturalness is apparent when a Norwood 5-6 has a hair transplant of say 3000 grafts only in the frontal 90 cm2 of the scalp, without touching the crown. An even better example of this is when a Norwood 7 has a hair transplant. Men do simply NOT bald in this pattern. It just does not look natural or convincing to have a relatively thick hairline with a completely bald dipping crown. And contrary to what is sometimes claimed here, we view someone's head from many different angles, not just the front. 3. Sometimes a hairline is too perfect to be true. This is usually a giveaway that someone has had work done. I think it's also important to point out that we (the hair loss community) spend a lot of time looking at pictures and hair transplants. We are probably the toughest critics out there! Yet, a normal person would never even guess that *insert name* had a hair transplant by a recommended top 10 surgeon. When i had a lot of hair, I was preoccupied with my own hair. Unfortunately, right now, I care more about other peoples' hair. I wish I had a Lorenzo/Konior hair line, though.
  7. SL, thanks for the comment. 1. Do second surgeries in the same location of the scalp typically take longer to grow? 2. Also, if you were to guess, how large was the covered scalp in cm2?
  8. Unfortunately, the best hair transplants that I have seen are usually with candidates who have thick hair. More often than not, clinics tend to post pictures of candidates with thick hair. However, I have also seen some very nice results with candidates who have a low contrast between hair and scalp. Blonde hair and fair skinned candidates with fine hair are, however, difficult to come by online, especially Norwood 5 examples.
  9. Thanks for sharing. Please keep us posted. How do you feel about the growth so far? Have you shown the pictures to Dr. Bisanga?
  10. Hi David! Hope all is well with you. What would you say the density requirement is for someone with medium-fine blonde hair (fu/cm2)? That is, will the 40-50% rule work for someone who is under direct sun light?
  11. Dr. Rosanelli, have you considered documenting your examples in HD video in order to bring 100% transparency and clarity to your work?
  12. Do you have before and after pictures to share please?
  13. He should have gone with a top surgeon, especially knowing that Dr. Lorenzo works in England. Unfortunately, too many people place cosmetic surgery in the same category as buying a new TV.
  14. I think his hair loss resembles a Norwood "A" pattern more than anything else. What was the total bald area in cm2 covered? We know that many Norwood 6 patients have around 150-230 cm2 of bald area. Let's assume that he has 150 cm2 of bald area. 2900/150= 19.33 fu/cm2. Of course, hair characteristics can make a huge difference, but will 19.33 grafts per cm2 produce this kind of result?
  15. I would like to say that I really like the hairline and his result is actually very nice. Congratulations to the patient as he must be very happy. I think the doctor did an excellent job. Below is some constructive feedback. Feedback: All Norwood 6 patients are not created equally. I think that it is very important to realize that 2900 grafts will never be enough for the average Norwood 6 patient. I am not insinuating that this is implied by the clinic, but it may be interpreted this way by a newbie who is a full blown Norwood 6. Unless a patient has absolute dream characteristics (look around you, very few people fit this description), 8,000-9,000 grafts are needed for full coverage (not full density, of course). This is why I propose that instead of only classifying patients by norwood pattern, I believe that the forum should require clinics to classify patients by total bald area in cm2 as well. In cosmetic surgery, apples need to be compared with apples. There is a significant difference between someone who has 150 cm2 of bald area vs 200 cm2 of bald area. Also, I feel that it should become mandatory for clinics to post HD videos of their patients. H&W and Dr. Lorenzo are the only ones who are doing it (please correct me if I'm wrong). This is the only way someone can find out what he/she may realistically expect. Also, wet the transplanted hair. The photos above show no weakness at all. This is usually completely impossible for a Norwood 6 who only had around 3000 grafts. Thanks for sharing and I hope your clinic is open to posting HD videos in the future of its showcase patients. Cheers!
  16. What was the total area covered in cm2? How thick was his hair? (fine, medium-fine, etc). Also, where would you place his current hairline on the norwood scale (after the transplant)? How many fu/cm2 were transplanted in the recipient? FEEDBACK: 1. I recommend sharing HD videos of your patients from Dr. Farjo. This should be mandatory for all recommended surgeons. 2. I recommend combing his hair back, that way, we can see his hairline. 3. Finally, please share more information, such as total area covered, hair thickness, total grafts transplanted in the recipient per cm2, etc.
  17. This looks so natural. This man is an absolute genius at what he does! Thanks for sharing. Question: Would it be possible for you to post some pictures of patients with blonde hair, preferably with a Norwood 5-6 pattern? I think we would all appreciate it, as we are aren't seeing that many results with blonde hair. Thanks in advance.
  18. Hey Rocketmas, Are you satisfied with your surgery with Ron Shapiro?
