  1. I don't really know for sure if Biotin and MSM tablets make much of a difference but everyone says to do it and i did it too. it can't hurt, so you might as well. rub aloe vera gel on your scalp a few times a day for the next few months to help with redness can't remember what was said about shampoo to be honest...maybe a couple of weeks before switching back? microneedling (1 mm and once every 6 weeks) might help your crown but minoxidil and finasteride are the main things
  2. i do, here's my results. there's no before pics but I had very deep and bad recession. the new hairline was conservative because i was 23 at the time.
  3. I wore a loose fitting cap the next day and was able to travel and go out and about freely. I had FUT so didn't do any strenuous activity for about 3 months afterwards. My question would be - why do you even have to go on the retreat? I can't stand work socials and don't understand why your boss is being accommodating about WHEN you go, rather than if you WANT to go? Can't you just say "thanks but I'll give this one a miss and continue to earn my salary by working hard and hitting deadlines / KPIs" ?
  4. I went outside wearing a very loose fitting cap the day after surgery. I flew home 2 days after surgery, wearing that loose fitting cap the entire time. A standard travel pillow will help you sleep but you need to be careful it doesn't touch the recipient area.
  5. No, you aren't necessarily too young. I started losing my hair in 2005 at 16. Started propecia in 2010. Got a HT in 2012 at 23. Here are photos of me last year aged 31... The keys to overcoming long term hair loss is medication to stabilise your loss + realistic goals i.e a conservative HT without restoring a juvenile hairline, not touching the crown. I am now looking to get crown work 10 years later as my loss pattern is more established. Or you just let nature take its course and in 10 years you can be one of these NW6s that goes to Eugenix and gets 9k grafts.
  6. I remember Dr Feller telling me how long his staff members had been with him.....8, 10, 12, 15+ years. He said they are very well paid so that they stick around, because it takes so long for them to learn and get the experience to deliver top class results. You can't afford a high employee turnover rate in this industry. So we as customers are paying for the cost of the employee as well as for the skill and reputation of the doctor.
  7. I had very very bad recession so my HT at age 23 was ultra conservative. It gave me a V hairline rather than a U and no temporal work. The transformation was GREAT though especially when grown out and my hair is down. However, now it's 10 years later and I haven't lost any more hair, tweaking of the hairline and temporal work is my next goal along with crown restoration. I'd like to turn the V into more of a U and connect it up to the native hair on the sides. To conclude: it isn't essential and it's best for when you're a bit older and can anticipate future loss a bit better. Am definitely jealous when I see temple work on post-op pics now but it's something you can always do at a later stage. Better to add to a hairline later than to go too extreme and risk wasting grafts.
  8. Hi I am planning on going to Hattingen so dug out some threads mentioning them... It's clear from your original post you are feeling negative about this but trust me - everything is completely normal. You can see the difference in the growth from month 5 to 6. It took me 18 months for my hairline to really 'mature'.......my hair went from a good to great result between 12 months and 18 months. You are where I was at month 6. A LONG WAY TO GO. And another thing.....you felt the hairline was too receded but it's going to look amazing when grown out. My hairline was ultra conservative in comparison to yours and it turned out great. I am actually jealous about the temple work and the fact your hairline is a U shape whereas mine is a V (I was only 23 so it made sense). It's possible your expectations are too high and that you might see problems where there isn't any - but I'm confident that in a year's time you are going to be very very very happy. Your write up and comments made me worried initially because it's the first negative stuff I've heard about Hattingen but I feel very reassured by your pics. Please keep us updated!
  9. I'm sure someone has said this already but one of the important factors is your age, level of loss, your donor hair quality + future loss. Juvenile hairlines take a lot of grafts, especially with high density. You could end up with a Clooney hairline then nothing behind it if you lose the rest and wasted all your donor on the front. If you're 45 and only have some frontal loss that seems stable, then a doctor could consider it if you donor was strong and there was no crown loss etc.
  10. he's very good. i think his ethical choice was to be conservative - like using limited grafts to give middle aged men a nice transformation instead of being aggressive giving young people lots of grafts on a hairline - but i saw some results this year that were more appealing to younger people. either way definitely someone to consider for honest advice
  11. Love that crown for such few grafts. Very similar to mine so it gives me hope that it isn't going to take loads of grafts. Front looks awesome too. It all looks so natural and not perfect, so people who knew him before will assume that's how it always was. Can you explain what the circle is in picture 4? It's more mid scalp than crown. Thanks!
  12. I think your plan makes sense. I don't think there are too many alternatives really other than hair pieces. Are you on meds and or looking for a HT? First time I've seen anyone talk about Mane on here, I've used it since 2009 and love it
  13. Consult with Eugenix or one of the other highly killed beard transplant experts, but don't get your hopes up. SMP would be a good fall back but if so you should be honest with people about it because for fair skinned people it has its limitations in my opinion, plus if someone touches your scalp all they feel is skin and no buzzed hair
  14. Summer = long days of sunlight that makes it hard to disguise Winter = short dark days that makes it easier to hide However... doing it in summer means that you get to enjoy the next summer with your full result. you get to ride out the winter when it's all in between. Doing it in winter means that in summer you will still look kind of weird, depending on how much was shaved down and how big the procedure was. Conclusion: nothing is perfect. My money is on the end of September being the best so you have it done right as summer is over and the days get shorter, and you can re-emerge in April or May with the worst already behind you. (none of this applies if you work in an office all year round)
  15. My head hair is blonde and my beard hair goes darker and gingery when it grows out, would this have an affect on a transplant?
  16. I had the same question many years ago because I wanted to be able to grow it long. Search out my 9 years later results thread if you want to see......or just take my word that it grows as long as you want it to. My hairline transplant comes down past my chin to the adams apple area
  17. Looks like a significant improvement already. Very envious of your no shave procedure...I'm dreading going through the shaving down part again.
  18. Good news! I was going to reply (didn't realise it was an old thread) and say Hattingen or Eugenix would be great options if you can travel.
  19. Wow. This is the first Dr Freitas thread I've clicked on....what a place to start. Incredible result. I love that crown too at the end of the video with the shorter hair, even combing through it and spread the hair it's all just perfect.
  20. Sorry but I think you're coming at this in the wrong way.....so dependent on price and location and believing in a marketing gimmick (DHI). Luckily you've come to the right place before you have committed to anything so I recommend holding off on any decisions and spending the next 3 or 4 months reading patient stories, reading the questions and answers that pop up, viewing clinic photos etc. Hopefully you can save up a bit more money too so you aren't led to a cheap hair mill in Turkey. [edit] having said that, it wouldn't hurt to send your photos and speak with Eugenix and Bicer as people have already recommended.
  21. I can't say too much about Turkey or PCOS but from your post I'd ask if it HAS to be Turkey? There are lots of great options in Europe
  22. I agree. Plenty of recession when the hairline is pulled back to justify 2,000 grafts. You could easily get by another 5 or 10 years with concealer on that fairly minimal crown and re-evaluate down the line. It looks like it's more mid scalp too which will be easier to hide.
