  1. No more than taking a one a day vitamin. No more than brushing your teeth everyday. No more than using deororant everyday. Most things that "help us" can be a "pain in the ass". But it's a pretty minor pain in the ass if it works, But if you are in the majority where the meds do work They save lots of hair and lower hair transplant costs by holding on to lots of hair instead of needing all transplants. It does cost to have and/or keep hair. No doubt being bald and/or shaving it all off is cheaper. Each person must decide if bald is worth saving the money. But as we grow older isnt that how a lot of things work? If you stop working out....you get fat or out of shape? If you stop brushing your teeth you get cavaties or root canals. You stop taking blood pressure medicine your high BP returns. You have to keep taking blood pressure medicine for as long as you dont want high blood pressure, which is practically your whole life.
  2. "severe side effects"? Not even close for me. All drugs have some side effects and the patient along with his/her doctor must decide if the positive outweighs the negative. Personally Propecia has by far been a positive. In fact I firmly believe without Propecia I would be completely bald and very depressed. I hope lawyers, defendents, and juries don't cause Propecia to be taken off the market for the millions of guys that depend on it. Yes warnings should be given by the drug maker and doctor, but hopefully a few won't prevent the many from reaping the benefits of Propecia.
  3. Badger....also if you haven't already you should take a look at the following link and watch as many of the videos as you can over time... it's educational as well as helpful in choosing a doctor. Interviews with our recommended hair transplant physicians
  4. me too no doctor..... but since he seems opposed to meds, has a great deal of hairloss, likes to keep his hair short and may decide against surgery.... he may be a good candidate for the scalp tattoo solution. Badger check out the scalp tatoo links below: (Links removed by moderator) [/url]
  5. Josh....do you mind sharing how many grafts you had implanted? The videos Dr. True has on his website explaining in detail each & every step of the patient's journey I found quite helpful to a potential patient like myself. Patient Guide: Hair Transplant, Hair Replacement & Hair Restoration For this reason I have Dr. True on my narrowed list of possible doctors. My only concern was if Dr. True routinely did large sessions in the 4K-4500 graft range?
  6. To be honest orlhair I am a bit surprised when I see doctors even doing that. Many of the young guys wanting a transplant on what is obviously a full head of hair don't know any better....but the doctor should. Unless something is invented via stem-cell or a similar technology that will allow for growing new hair follicles in the lab which creates an unlimited supply of donor hair...some of these young guys that are eating up their donor hair at such an early age could be in trouble when they get in their forties and fifties. I suppose it will help Hair Club for Men because if they are out of donor hair what will their options be? Shave it all off or get a wig?
  7. Mick, With your level of balding you are really only going to get the kind of coverage you need through a transplant or a hair system like Hair Club for Men. The propecia is a great start to stopping future loss. Half the battle is just keeping what you still have. So although you probably wont see much new growth from the propecia it will stop or greatly slowdown any additional loss. If I were you I would study the video interviews in the link below for an education on hair transplantation as well as finding a great hair transplant doctor in one of the videos. Yes hair transplants are pricey but the transplanted hair pretty much lasts forever, so think of it as a long term investment. If I couldnt afford it, personally I would get a 2nd job and direct all the 2nd job money to a hair transplant savings account until I had enough to get it done. 8. From what I've heard about Dr. Feller I don't doubt that at all. He appears to have a great reputation.
  9. yes he postponed his surgery due to breaking his leg a few days prior to surgery
  10. Me2. I can understand a cancel fee because of staffing, non revenue day but still.
  11. Thanks guys....something I could consider down the line.
  12. "a"......I suggest you watch many of the videos in the link below and try to get a feel for a doctor you like. If possible don't allow some travel dissuade you from going to a world renowned doctor, because you are going to live with the results for decades. Travel to ensure a great result should be just part of the over-all plan. Saving on a plane ticket or hotel room is not worth decades of looking in the mirror every morning at a mediocre result. 13. it does? maybe from a butcher. i had a HT 13 years ago and my incision is virtually undetectable. if i change hairdressers I always ask them after they cut my hair a few times. they've all been like "no way...where?" after really really close close examination they can usually find it. but its anything but nasty and ugly when it heals
  14. alanrudy, Please do keep us updated. For someone that wants to wear their hair at medium or longer lengths I am curious if this tat approach could be used in conjunction with a hair transplant to give the illusion of more density. Transplant first then do tats. Can you post or PM me the web site you are speaking of where I can go take a look at the pictures and discussion forum? Thanks and good luck.
  15. I am not familiar with the tats. I know some guys get it if they are going to wear a buzz cut. And from the pics I've seen it looks pretty good. But are there many guys that after a hair transplant wearing medium length hair style that also get the tats and use the tats in conjunction with a regular FUT hair transplant just to give a more dense look by way of reducing the skin to hair contrast?
  16. how does the head tat work when you get older....and say your sides are gray? even if you colored the sides would it look weird for a guy in his 60-70's to have a head on top of dark dots? I mean with aging skin, wrinkles, ect is that tat gonna be ok when one is lots older? Or can one change the color later?
  17. Q: Is an increase in shedding normal? A: A few users report a slight increase in shedding when they first start the HairMax treatments. This is actually a good sign. Your hair grows in three phases, Anagen (the growth phase), Catagen (the resting phase) and Telogen (the shedding phase). At any one time about 10% of your hair is in the Catagen phase, resting in your scalp and waiting to be shed. The HairMax stimulates the hair follicle into an Anagen state and encourages the hair follicle to start a new healthy hair. This new healthy hair will push out some of the Catagen hairs that are in the resting phase. The new hair will be stronger, healthier and thicker. This Catagen hair would have been shed in time anyway. This slight increase in shedding is only temporary and should not be cause for alarm. During this time it is essential to continue the HairMax treatment and with time you should start to see visual results. The FAQS are from HairMax's website
  18. That appears to be a lot of hair loss in six months, unless the lighting and wetness of the hair is making the pictures look so much different. I tried a laser comb for a year of so and nothing seemed to change, but I've never heard of a laser comb making it worse. With that level of hair loss the meds may help you slow or stop the loss, but you are going to need a wig or a transplant to make much difference. I'd make an appointment to see a hair transplant doctor soon.
  19. My thoughts exactly.....(but still exciting). I've always said they will announce the cure for baldness on the day of my funeral! Such timing! Ha Ha.
  20. I can't speak for Bosley, but I have had a hair transplant and I have also been a Hair Club client. Hair Club was very professional and honest all the way through with me. The Hair Club system actually looked very good. Density with Hair Club was excellent. However I could just never get used to "wearing a wig". With the glue in the front and just the feel and thoughts of "is that guy looking and noticing I am wearing a rug?". For me there is nothing like having your own live hair.
  21. Hey wait a minute!...lol You cant "get the goods and run". If everyone did that we'd have no valuable forum. For those of us considering Hasson/Wong check in every once in awhile! And thanks for the advice via PM. Good luck and congrats on the great results!
  22. To tell you the truth I am not that pleased with Nizoral or Revita. I realize everyone reacts differently with their own body chemistry. I have tried them both and they seem to really dry out my hair. 2EachHisOwn.
