  1. I feel for ya. Luckily I am able to wear a hat when I return to work. I would hate returning to work if I could not hear a hat. But I suppose once the first day shock wears off everybody will leave you alone. I just know how people are. I've got these "OMG" type people at work that love to sensationalize anything they can. I even worried about funerals. What if someone croaks a few days after you get home from surgery. It would be tough wearing a hat into a church funeral, but I wouldnt want to look like an escaped mental patient either. I think I would just skip the funeral unless it was someone very close.
  2. Of course each patient is going to be different and each doctor's results different. I had a small FUT procedure about 12 years ago (maybe 1500 grafts) and the scar has never been even the slightest issue. Hair has always sat perfect over it, no bump, no ridge. No way anyone could notice or feel it . Very hard to find even when trying. None of my hairdressers over the years ever knew until I told them. After some looking they could usually find it. Downside to FUT in my opinion would probably be a longer "healing period". I think FUT is much cheaper and more grafts survive.
  3. Not sure if this is for different reasons, but Hasson/Wong told me to stop taking fish oil 1 week before my upcoming procedure in August.
  4. Interesting Tiztom...especially that it lasted 4 months. When I had my first transplant more than a decade ago I was driving home about 4 hours and suddenly got a terrible case of the hiccups. I had to pull over twice and do my little manuever I do to rid myself of hiccups when I rarely get hiccups. Later I read in a medical book about hair transplants that sometimes patients after a hair transplant get the hiccups for a day or two. There were theories as to why, but nothing 100% sure as to what caused this. Kind of weird.......do a Google search under "hair transplants hiccups" and you'll see more info.
  5. Is nausea common HT post op? I've heard of itching, swelling, bruising, some pain, ect but I've never heard anyone mention nausea before.
  6. If you are going to limit yourself to Florida doctors be sure & take a look at the interviews with the 3-4 Florida doctors in the link below: Interviews with our recommended hair transplant physicians
  7. I started using Nanogen about 3-4 months ago. Over-all I like the product. I have never used another brand so I have nothing to compare it to. Nanogen is definitely a "piece of the puzzle" and works pretty well. It is kind of pricey, but maybe good concealers are all pricey, I'm not sure. After my large session surgery in August I hope at some point to not need Nanogen any longer. The last time I went in to get my haircut, I sat down in the chair and my hairdresser screamed "you did it!". I said "I did what?", he said "you got your transplant"! I had to tell him "no not yet...that's Nanogen...a concealer". So I was impressed that at first glance he thought my crown had been transplanted. ps: I buy all my Nanogen from this great website: ) https://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/product/ST-112/Nanogen-Nanofibres/ Note to forum store: you should put the Nanogen hold spray on the same page as the Nanogen concealer. It will make it easier for the customer and I betcha you will sell more holding spray.
  8. Can you share your photographs that you seem to claim show Dr. Lam's work in a bad light? I hardly think it is enough to come on here with a total post count under 3 posts and defame a doctor with zero evidence shown or even explained in any detail. The guy that starts this thread has 1 post, and then you chime in with 2 posts total. If you refuse to shown any visual evidence can you at the very least explain in detail what exactly was your bad experience with Dr. Lam?

  10. Thanks Dr. Wesley. I always like to know when hearing about a patient's journey whether they are on finasteride and how much they feel it may have helped.
  11. Each person has their own set of concerns....your's is money...for other's it can be a variety of other things and/or money. Many people have been concealing their baldness to some degree and when they have surgery they are shaved down and look like an "ugly duckling" for months. So they walk back into work and they worry about people having that shocked look "OMG WHAT HAPPENED?". The post-op is certainly a long journey to get back to normal....yeah it's easy to say "who cares what others think".....but that's part of the reason we are all getting a transplant is to look better....and who are we going to look better to?...MAINLY OTHERS! Some would rather postpone the hassle. It's easy to look in the mirror and say "well I'll wait another day, week, another month, another year....to schedule my hair transplant surgery". No Pain/No Gain. It's a bit why people put off dental appointments, exercise, or proper diet....ect......"tomorrow I'll do it". Also people like me that have some anxiety/panic disorder may have some concerns about being in a chair for 8-12 hours for a procedure. Many need two procedures...so it appears like it's really going to be a long hassle/journey to get where they want to be....so they postpone or blow it off. Have you seen many of the post-op pictures right after surgery? The shave down....the staples/stitches/the swelling/the scalp bleeding/wounds/the bandages. It's not pretty and can be a bit intimidating to some. "Oh I think I will wait awhile"...shouldnt be a surprise....lol People in general are afraid of surgery and any kind of pain/discomfort. Others may be concerned on whether it's worth it? It costs a lot of money and some after pics show guys still showing signs of baldness....so people think "do I really want go through the cost and hassle and still have a slightly thinning/balding look?" even though it will be a less bald look. Will I be happy afterwards? Some guys hold out for the baldness cure we always read is "right around the corner" and "should he available in about 5 years". Some guys think FUE may come down in price and are holding out for a mega-FUE that they think will be much cheaper in a year or two as the technology evolves. others can chime in with their concerns.....and I am sure there are many other reasons besides money as to why people hesitate.
  12. But chickendinna you don't live too far away to call your doctor and explain what you have here and ask his/her opinion. Call tomorrow and tell them you need to speak to the doctor personally. Discuss and move forward. You must trust the doctor if you allowed the doctor to perform surgery on your head. Who better to ask?
  13. Looks great to me. Looks natural, falls right, kind of feathered. Most of us would die for a hairline like that. The patient must be smiling. Excellent work Dr. Lindsey.
  14. In between the two surgeries was the patient a devoted regular user of propecia/finasteride?
  15. Thanks Doctor Lindsey. Unbelievable! I too have run across a few people like that and I just don't get it. Maybe I live a boring life, but showering is one of the most enjoyable parts of my daily routine and I can't understand people that skip a few days. This isn't 1865, it 2012 for God's sake!
  16. I had a small (by today's standards) hair transplant back in the late 90's and part of the pre-op instructions included using Hibiclens as a shampoo a few days before surgery. I have never seen Hibiclens mentioned in this forum and was curious if any doctors still suggest using it either before or after hair transplant surgery? Hibiclens Antiseptic Skin Cleanser, 8 oz. Bottle
  17. I have a great hair stylist that I've known for years....for a few extra bucks he will come to my house to cut my hair. I've already discussed with him my upcoming transplant and he said "no problem I will just cut your hair at your crib". It's a win/win because it's not out of his way and he won't have to split any of the money with the salon. You should have no problem once you have established a relationship with a stylist (and they know you're not some pervert) to get them to come to your house. Some stylist can also arrange for "after hours" cuts at the salon if they understand your transplant situation. The main factor is building a relationship with someone that cuts hair and they will usually work with you. Also look for hair salons in historic or trendy districts. Many times salons in these type locales are in old historic houses and each stylist cuts in a private room as opposed to the typical open-air salons.
  18. IceCreamMan.....I understand the need to keep a bit of a lower profile after a transplant. Like you I will be able to wear a hat, but I am curious as to you having such strong "dropping off the earth" feelings. Again I understand that the first 3 months are an "ugly duckling" phase, but is it really that bad where even wearing a hat doesnt help that much? I was hoping to attend some college football games a month or so afterwards and wear my hat. You think I will feel different after my procedure is done and I'll wanna be more of a hermit?
  19. In the US "you have the right" to sue anyone for almost anything. Your success rate could depend on the skill of your lawyer, how much data you can gather to support your case, and the locale of your court.
  20. Galatino... Are you on meds like Propecia? Have you been on meds regularly (like 5-7 days a week) since shortly after the surgery? If you are on meds like propecia...what dosage? Also can you share your approximate age?
  21. azazelgs I've wondered if scalp tats could help "finish off" a hair transplant? I notice some guys still use concealer on the crown after a transplant. If a crown is still a bit thin even after a transplant, could a scalp tat after the transplant is fully grown in help give a better illusion of density....instead of having to use concealers?
  22. I agree it sucks knowing it's not real, but for me personally it would suck worse being completely bald. For me Hair Club would be the "lesser of two evils" because with the "all shaved off" look I would have the "cancer patient" look bigtime. Some guys can pull it off, but not me. Hopefully transplants will make those choices mute.
  23. One alternative for people can also be something like Hair Club For Men. Not so much for azazelgs because he wants a buzz cut. But if we are talking "worse case" scenarios, personally I would try the Hair Club route again before I would shave it all off. I tried Hair Club over a decade ago. It looked great, but it just bothered me knowing it wasn't real. But for me personally, the way my face & bone structure is I would do just about anything before I went with the "shave it all off" look. So if a transplant was not possible....I'd probably be at Hair Club again. . Hair Club 2EachHisOwn.....
