  1. I decided to go with FUE in my second surgery for a couple of reasons, but this was one of the main ones. I had a great scar result from my FUT and did not want to risk it (even though I probably would have had another solid result given my surgeon and physiology, but it is never a sure thing)
  2. I have that same concern, especially when the use a lot of grafts at that point. I don't agree with the article overall, but there are good points in it. Getting a HT is all about realistic expectations and having a thorough understanding of what can and cannot be done for your situation. The top clinics will be very honest with you about what is achievable. Sometimes people who don't talk to a reputable clinic are promised things that are not realistic. Forums are a great source of information, but people need to realize that "Wow" results are that way because they are better than the norm. A normal result by top surgeons is still really good, but if expectations are for a "wow" result and you don't get that, then you will be disappointed. There is a lot to consider when deciding to get a HT. the key is research and more research so that you can make an informed decision for yourself. For me, it was one of the best decisions I made for myself. It is not for everyone though.
  3. Getting those staples out is a big relief. You will feel so much better and the redness will start to go away quickly. Hang in there......this is the hardest part.
  4. Everyone who is ethical is going to be very cautious about doing a HT at age 21. Given your situation it might be different, but definitely don't make a quick decision. Do a lot of research and make sure you know exactly what can be accomplished given your situation and age when considering how much more you might lose down the road. Good luck with your research and your decision.
  5. Good luck with it and keep us posted. A lot of people get great results taking Fin at half doses (every other day, etc), so no reason that this will not help significantly for you.
  6. Hariri, thanks for following up on this. It really is of interest given the issues associated with Fin. I am able to take Fin without sides, but I still worry about the safety of the drug. It will be interesting to continue to follow this and see what develops. I wonder if it is sold in the U.S.?
  7. Thanks guys.....I feel very fortunate.
  8. Thanks Janna. Good to know I have quite a bit of donor in the bank for the future!
  9. I would not do anything to the crown. Get the front done and save your donor for the future if you need it. Crown still has good coverage and you just got back on Fin.
  10. Here are my one week post FUE photos. As you can see, things are healing up really fast. With only one week growth from being shaved, you can barely see the strip scar from my prior FUT. I expect in another day or two you wont be able to see the strip scar at all, which is amazing considering just how short my hair is. You can still see the hair color that was used for the FUE, but it is slowly washing out......I will be all grey/white until I can put a little color back in after 6 weeks. Otherwise, you can hardly tell anything was done in the donor area. The recipient area is healing very nicely.
  11. That is great. Funny, but when my hair grew in I was super stoked about my result. After a while I got used to my new hair. Then I would look at various pictures taken before I had my HT and just start grinning again about my new hair......
  12. There is a lot of passion in the FUE vs. FUT debate that will never end. I think they are both great procedures and we are lucky to be able to choose one or the other or both. I have had both. There are pros and cons to each and for those who are extremely passionate about one or the other, it is kind of like politics......one is not going to convince the other they are right. I love the forums as they were and have been extremely valuable to me. I try to give back with my experience where i can. The one thing anyone reading needs to keep in mind is that most patients are just that, and it does not make any of us experts. Sharing experiences and opinions helps a lot, but each person should decide for themselves based on consultations with several top clinics. They are the experts. Also, go in with realistic expectations. Regardless of whether you choose FUT or FUE, this is surgery and there are some risks. Everyone will not get one of the "wow" results that we all love to see. But if you understand all of this, have realistic expectations, and choose from among top surgeons, your chances of achieving a really nice result with FUT, FUE or some combination are very strong. In the end it is your hair and head, so make the decision that is best for you. Magnum, you are looking at top clinics, so whatever you decide I am sure it will work out well for you. All the best with your decision.
  13. Absolutely. That would be the norm. For example, in my first surgery I had 3048 grafts with 6447 hairs.
  14. The graft is the entire follicle (or natural clusters of 2 or 3 follicles). So, the hair growing from the follicle will fall out following a hair transplant (usually in a couple weeks), but the follicle is still there. After 2-4 months, new hairs start growing. So, if the entire graft came out you would in all likelihood have bleeding.
  15. Congratulations. Dr. Gabel has a great reputation.
  16. Makes sense. I probably underestimated what I have left.
  17. John Slattery always has a crazy head of white/grey hair which is what mine would be without color......lol. Not ready for the full grey/white look yet, though it will be that way for a few weeks since I can't color it for a while. In terms of what I have in the bank, my donor was pretty thick. After my first 3000 graft FUT procedure, Dr. Ron said I had at least that much left. Janna might be able to better answer that, but I am guessing that I easily have another 1500 -2000 left if I need it, maybe more.
  18. I agree the thread should stay on point to Magnum's question. That is what I did in my first post in this thread and that was my point in my last post.
  19. Agree that Bisanga and Ferudini are among the best doing FUE, so the original posters choices are great ones. For people to say that these are the only choices for FUE or to disparage work by surgeons widely considered among the best in their field worldwide is simply without any merit and not helpful. But if thie original poster makes his choice among the two surgeons he narrowed it down to with his research he will be making a great choice.
  20. From what I have read, if a graft actually came out you would have bleeding.
  21. Thanks Aaron. I will see what I can do about the Slattery look...lol:cool:
