  1. In almost all cases were a graft is lost in the first week following a hair transplant procedure there would be some bleeding directly from the site where the graft was dislodged from. What you are discribing is relatively normal. I am confident that everything will work out fine for you.
  2. Most dermatologists will only be able to offer a biopsy which would be a good idea in your case. However, you may want to at least get a second opinion from a hair restoration specialist and make sure you bring your biopsy results.
  3. I have ssen very im pressive results from all the physicians you have mentioned.
  4. How much time is necessary for recovery after a hair transplant varies for each patient. I have many patients who you cannot tell they had a hair transplant one week after the procedure. Ohers because of very fair skin and not a lot of pre-existing hair have some prolonged redness that lasts for a few additional weeks that is hard to camoflauge. It really depends on your skin type, how much hair you currently have, how long and the style of your hair, and how many and placement of the grafts during the procedure.
  5. Nizoral shampoo can be used on an intermittant basis after the procedure for the itching. Vitamin E oit is inexpensive and can be used on the donor wound after the sutures or staples have been removed. You should avoid excessive flexion of the neck for a few months after the procedure.
  6. Nizoral shampoo only needs to be used 2-3 times per week. Any sulfate free shampoo should do the job for daily use.
  7. From the photos it looks like you could do between 500-750 folliculqar unit grafts per side. I really depends on the exact area or sq. cm per side and the desired density. It looks like you do not need any grafting in the mid frontal area. Remember you want to save as much of your donor hair as possible for future use if needed.
  8. Any reason why you did not just do a full strip and have the grafting in both areas in the first procedure? Generally, it is more cost effective to do it that way.
  9. When planning a hair restoration procedure that include the hairline, the doctor must take into account that the patient will get older and most likely continue to lose hair. The original transplant should still look natural. However, it may start to look thinner again if you lose more hair. You should understand that you may want to have additional work done in the future. I have also heard very good things about Dr. Damkerng, but not actually seen any of his work.
  10. I have had a few patients over the years that have said they noticed a strange smell from the propecia. You can always contact Merck and ask them if this is normal. If not, they might offer to replace them.
  11. Patient looking to get his hairline back. He was hoping this would make him look a little younger, and at the very least continue to look his age for many years to come.
  12. The more proper description of what is being talked about here is hair multiplication, not hair cloning.
  13. I have had patients with Diabetes that was under control and they had very acceptable results. However, getting an ok from the endocrinlogist is always a good idea. Wound healing can be an issue with diabetics.
  14. I agree that shaving does not cause permanant hair loss. Losing hair at age 17 is very dramatic but if you have a strong family history of male pattern balding and you received that hair loss gene, it is quite possible. You may want to consider Propecia to slow things down and hopefully get control of your situation.
  15. Laser hair removal definetly takes several treatments. Scalp hair is very persistant and is not as easy to kill as some body hairs. Laser treatment cannot make more hair. Some treatments can stimulate sleeping hair follicles to start growing. That may be what you are describing.
  16. Your only options right now are non surgical. They include Propecia, Rogaine, LLLT, and PRP. There are no guarentee that any of these treatments will be successful in preventing any further hair loss, but certainly may be worth a try.
  17. t 8-10 days post-op there should be no scabs remaining. If you are fair skinned you could have a slight redness to the transplanted area. With the new smaller instruments for making the recipient sites there should not be any scarring.
  18. It really depends on your other facial structures. A 7 1/4 fitted cap is average, not large. The distance for eye brow the hair line varies with different bone structures and facial features. You can post photos that block all identity which may be helpful.
  19. There are several very good hair restoration physicians out there. Dr. Tykocinski is by far one of the finest. I have been lucky enough to perform surgery with him at the Live surgery conference in Orlando. If I needed a hair transplant he would certainly be on my list of Docs to do the case.
  20. Patients can have different inflammatory responses to similar events. There could be many reasons for this including but not limited to your health at time of surgery, medications used, instruments used, and amount of work that was done in a particular area of the scalp. It is also very possible that there are unknown reasons why this happened in your case. It would be more concerning if it did not happen in the first case, but did in the second.
  21. Most likely you will not experience any negetive effects because the coloring agent you are using is mild. It also helps that you are it sparingly.
  22. You are in a tough situation. only 22 years old and have quite a bit of hair loss. Due your due diligence. You will most likely need to travel to get this done. I recommend you start off conservative and understand that you will probably need several procedures over the years. You do not ever want to be in a position were you are wishing you never started this process.
  23. I offer Finasteride prescriptions for patients who do on-line consultations. I am sure there are several other clinics that would do the same.
  24. A few photos would really help. Remember the only people on these sites are also having the same issues you are. Block pout the face or just the eyes and I would be glad to give you an evaluation and recommendation as to your specific situation. I am sure there are many other doctors who would do the same.
  25. There are several very good sites and forums in addition to this one that offer non biased opinions and recommendations about hair restoration doctors and clinics. Do a google search and see whats out there. Remember better decisions are made with more knowledge.
