  1. "We'll have a Muslim President before a Bald President" Says Larry David in a recent interview. Larry David On Groat's Syndrome, The Bald Community And Curb's Eighth Season Obviously, David is a comedian - and a very good one I might add - so there is some exaggeration for comedic effect going on here. But he is on to something. Since Eisenhower who served from 1953-1961, there has not been one bald man elected president. Ford was bald but he stepped in to replace Nixon, he wasn't elected. Just look at the last handful of presidents - Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Nixon. The furthest on the NW scale is maybe a NW3 (Nixon, Bush Sr. ?) while the majority of them retained their juvenile hairlines. Am I being paranoid or is there some big time discrimination against bald men in the electoral process here? Will America ever have a bald president again?
  2. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Dr. Lindsey.
  3. 1) Keep up the propecia/minox. 2) Start taking pictures to monitor your loss. 3) Start looking to hair transplantation. 1 - You never really know how well the meds are maintaining your hair until you quit them. So don't quit - they might be preserving more hair than you think. 2 - Pics are the only real way to monitor your hair state. Take them every few months - same place and lighting environment for consistency. 3 - You are at a great age for HT's. Start researching - do your homework.
  4. There are great doctors in NY and there are great doctors outside of NY. By all means look into both. Take your time and research your butt off.
  5. Dude, you look to be a NW6. Definitely look into the top clinics - ya know Feller, Shapiro, H&W, Rahal... etc. Don't stay local just cuz it's easy too...
  6. Yes, clinics need the patients permission to post their photos online. Oh, I'm sure it's been done.
  7. Yeah, you are so far out of the doldrums now that in another month you probably won't need any concealer on your scar. Good growing. It's about to get exciting for you.
  8. That some quick healing. Good work there orlhair!
  9. Congrats Kathleen. Looking forward to your pics. Who was your doc?
  10. Keep in mind these pics I posted were about 2-3 weeks post-op from my 2nd procedure. You are even further along so I think it would look much better for you than it did for me here. Of course, if you can wear a hat then take a day off from concealers.
  11. Yeah, bonker I think you could totally benefit with some dermmatch on the scar... especially to offset the shock loss. As for the recipient area you will hear different things from different docs. If you want to play it really safe, avoid dermmatch on the recipient area and use toppik/nanogen instead. The dermmatch on my donor area did not keep the shocked hair from returning.... I only used dermmatch on the recipient area on an occassion for the first six months and I always washed it out at night. Eventually, I started using dermmatch again pretty much daily in the recipient area after the transplanted hair started growing in.
  12. Cool, just checking. How many months out are you now?
  13. If you compare these pics to the first pic on the thread it is clear your HT was a complete success! Huge difference. I like the style in these pics but I wouldn't do a damp/wet look with any HT hair. Makes it look thinner than it needs to look. Do you let your hair air dry?
  14. You do look older than your age but not necessarily because of your hair. You have a mature looking face... not a bad thing at all. If you can, post some more detailed pics of your hair and the forum would be able to better help you. But I would suggest meeting with Farjo's clinic (as it seems you are in the UK) to see if it would be appropriate for someone at the age of 16 to go on Propecia. You may also want to look into Rogaine Foam at this time. Given your family history and your early balding start you could very well be genetically disposed to advanced hairloss. You can at least try to maintain what you got. But whatever you do, just say no to hair transplants for the next 10 years at least and see where your progression takes you.
  15. Try a combo of Toppik (or Nanogen) with Dermmatch. I think that especially do well for your crown. I think light brown would work well for you. Give yourself a few times to get it down. Once you get in a routine it isn't so bad.
  16. Unless you get an infection and die from the knee scope those grafts will grow!
  17. Then he must have done some research. I know this doesn't make you feel any less better about the detectability of your HT.
  18. Here's a question for you cul-de-sac: How was the questioner's hair? Was he balding? If so, then he has probably done some research and knows what to look for. There has been times where I spotted a HT and was tempted to talk to the guy, but then I realized he would probably feel like crap if I did.
  19. Bullit is back! No prob dude and great to hear from you! Can't wait to see some updates from your job with Dr. Paul. Keep it real.
  20. It wasn't great but it did the job until my hair grew back out.
