  1. Thanks ahairdown. Appreciate the compliments! Yeah, regarding the dry look: with the way I styled my hair the thin patches could be somewhat hidden, though under bright lights or the sun they could be seen. You could tell it was a thinner area. The frontal tuft was the strongest area but the corners were thinner. Also, the transition zone between the frontal third and the bridge needed to be addressed. I may have had even more thinning there since my last transplant.
  2. Dude, you are 3 months post-op, you'll be ok. Take a look at the difference between my 3 month and 5 month pics. Huge difference. No need to get nervous at this point.
  3. Yeah, from the research I did on them it looked like an all out media blitz. It'd be better to just let the work stand on it's own merit. I'd definitely consult with Dr. Rassman on it as well, and let GLI know they have competition. Totally agree. Like Dr. Ron said, fade the hairline back at least a centimeter behind the natural hair. I really do think this inking thing has promise if done right. Unfortunately, we don't really have a lot to go on yet. I really hope that more docs like Dr. Rassman, Dr. Shapiro, and others do some in depth studies on the long last effects of this technique. That's why posters like you Time To Do Something are important!
  4. Well done. The difference is notable in the overhead parted-hair pics.
  5. I love Dr. Simmons' work and yours looks great so far. The scar really healed well for just a month post-op. Keep us updated.
  6. No problem and thanks balody. Yeah, our situations are similar except I postponed going to a great doctor until my second procedure. D'oh! I should have done it your way. But I'm happy to be in great hands now and feel better about my hair future. Cheers to us this year!
  7. Yeah, I like this Rogaine on the nape idea... though I tried it on my head and my skin reacted badly to it. %&@!
  8. Well, I'm very interested to see how this works out for you, so please keep us posted! Did you ask about the ink changing color or blurring overtime? What was their answer to that? I agree that I'd prefer doing it with a M.D. (like Dr. Rassman at NHI), but if Dr. Shapiro was there to oversee it that would make a lot more comfortable if it was me. Good luck growing my friend!
  9. You are were you are supposed to be for 9 days. Hang tough! I'm 9 days post-op too! Cooley is great btw.
  10. Yeah, let me save you some heartache. Don't do a HT with Hairclub; I don't care if Dr. Hairclub himself is doing it. Research your butt off on this site for at least a year and consult with top surgeons; H&W, SMG, Feller, Rahal, etc...
  11. Thanks Jason. Really appreciate it. It all started with a little chat with you on this network. Thanks for vouching for me two years ago! I won't forget it.
  12. Interesting anecdote there TC17. I wonder if the nape loss is caused by DHT like with traditional MPB. If so, you'd think Propecia could help against that as well.
  13. I hate when that happens.... especially so soon after surgery.
  14. Try to stay patient! Counting every month/week/day/hour/minute/second can't be making it any easier.
  15. It's true that retrograde alopecia is not restricted to NW6/7 patterns. I think I also have a little retrograde alopecia going on. Just another reason to stick with the Fin. And also another reason why using nape hair for transplants is controversial. You may it have but it doesn't look bad. Your shock loss will come back.
  16. Hey balody.. with the SPF I meant Sun-screen. The patient's skin looks like he has been in the sun a bit too often. Totally unrelated to the excellent result.
  17. Yeah, it's normal to feel pain 8 days out. I'm 9 days post-op and soreness in the donor region is still there a bit, but it's probably more due to the staples.
  18. Looking good RockZ.... the next few months will get exciting! Please keep us posted. You're doing a great job on that already.
  19. Congrats Time To Do Something! I'd love to see some pics. Hope this one grows well for you. That's cool you visited Good Look Ink. Dr. Paul actually suggested I visit the place if I was ever looking into doing ink (which I'm not now but who knows about the future). I checked out the website and all. But if you go through with GLI, how long after the inking gets done would you get the FUE into the crown? A couple weeks? Next day? Will Dr. Ron go with you to GLI to monitor the job? Just curious. We were probably both at SMG on July 1st. I was getting my second wash done! Good luck to you. Happy healing!
  20. Ahairdown, Thanks man. I'm looking forward to see what I got in 6 months. My donor closure was pretty easy for Dr. Shapiro. Before the procedure he estimated i had over 4,000 grafts left via strip. I have no idea how much FUE I have available. We will cross that road when it comes.
  21. I haven't done a study myself so I can't confirm it. But I do remember reading that a similar percentage of men on the placebo also experienced sexual side effects. The meds usually do best for the crown/mid section. But every once in awhile you'll see a hairline case of regrowth. That's pretty rare tho.
  22. Rogaine works differently than Fin. But you have to keep using both indefinitely if you want to preserve what you have left. There are claims that using both simultaneously can have a synergistic effect. If you are serious about keeping what you have then get on both. But if you are already so scared of Propecia you might have already psyched yourself into getting sides... there's only one way to find out. TC17 is right. Hair loss is progressive. So see if you can keep what you have and take it from there. Getting a transplant without meds right now would be playing with serious fire.
  23. It works. Been on it 6 years and no problems. The side-effects happen to very few people. If you get them, stop the medication and everything will go back to normal. Saw Palmetto won't do anything. Nizoral might be of some help. Fin is the best thing medication out there to fight hair loss... along with Rogaine Foam.
