  1. FUE from the beard region while still a minority of our cases, can prove to be a meaningful donor resource, especially when the traditional scalp donor area has been exhausted. A common question asked about beard extraction is how will it heal - will it leave any markings? The key to excellent FUE healing is by utilizing a very sharp punch. Dr. True typically uses a range of .95 to 1.1 for extraction depending on the size/nature of the beard follicles at hand. The photo series below demonstrates over 2000 beard extractions over a span of 4 years and how well the skin has healed. This is typical of the healing we are seeing with sharp punch beard FUE.
  2. This patient is in his mid-20's. Dr. Dorin started him on Propecia a couple months prior to his procedure. It has been 5.5 months now - seeing really nice progress from the transplant as well as a stabilization and signs of thickening as a result of the medical therapy. Of the 2099 follicular units transplanted, 759 are singles, 1207 doubles, and 133 threes.
  3. Dr. True treated this patient in mid-April with a follicular unit transplant totaling 2742 grafts. The graft count consisted of 924 singles, 1654 doubles, and 164 threes. The FUT is developing as expected, a lot more cosmetic change to come over the next 6 - 8 months. I will update at that time.
  4. I have added updated with pics for both cases 3 weeks and 2 weeks post-op respectively.
  5. These 2 recent cases happened on consecutive days and make an interesting study in contrasting designs. Case 1 Age: Late 20's Class: 3v Medical Therapy: None Estimated Donor Supply: 5500 - 6000 Extraction time: 2 hours This patient requested a lower, more flat hairline contour. A total of 1315 grafts were utilized consisting of 419 singles, 581 doubles, 315 threes. Case 2 Age: Late 20's Class: 3V Medical Therapy: Propecia Estimated Donor Supply: 6500 - 7000 Extraction time: 2.5 hours This patient deferred to Dr.Dorin implementing a more irregular hairline edge. Dr. Dorin covered a larger area utilizing 1750 grafts, consisting of 551 singles, 889 doubles, and 310 threes. Both of these cases underline the importance that Dr. Dorin places on providing an individualized approach to each patient - finding a balance between imposing artistic flair and principles and being able to find common ground to achieve the look the patient desires.

  8. first of all, thank you everyone for your comments Slickers - ultra refined is a term this forum embraced in its infancy to describe state of the art hair transplantation here is a link to this: Hair Transplantation - Ultra Refined Technique funny now that i look at the picture used to illustrate ultra refined, it is a patient of True & Dorin's going back a ways cheers OH
  9. This patient came to Dr. Dorin to improve what was an unnatural transplant result by a previous doctor performed in the late 90's. A total of 3251 ultra-refined follicular units were transplanted throughout the front/top/crown region. 1448 singles, 1616 doubles, and 187 threes.
  10. gobble........its really a mixed bag, some grafts never shed there hairs but usually 2- 6 months is the window of emergence and then up to 14 months for full cosmetic development.....requires some patience:)
  11. FUE can be very well-suited for smaller, targeted area treatments. In this case, Dr. True reinforced this patient's eroding frontal hairline edge with 230 follicular units. The extracted area is easily concealed by the patient's existing hair during the healing phase.
  12. Great result Dr. Cooley.....a nice synergy between the HT and Propecia
  13. J - another solid result and only 6 months......be great to see this case after a years so - smart design too.

  15. Ideally for FUE treatments, we would like to have access to the whole donor area. If a patient is able and willing to completely shave the donor area in its entirety, this allows us to extract an optimal number of grafts. This particular patient is an executive from Europe that wanted to do FUE but with discretion so that he could transition seemlessly back into his normal appearance soon after the FUE process. In this situation, we will shave typically one wider band or several narrow bands that can be concealed by longer hair. We then extract without overharvesting throughout the shaved bands. This treatment produced 1301 grafts which were allocated to the frontal region. The patient's goals were met post-operatively and with the additional density, naturalness, and permanency achieved for his new hairline.
  16. Mick.......good progress so far......even at this stage I can tell the treatment has reframed this patients face and am sure it's having a positive effect on his appearance....keep us posted cheers*
  17. This follicular unit hair transplant session was performed by Dr. Dorin to rebuild, re-shape what was an eroding hairline for this patient as well as enhance crown density and contour. 1033 grafts were transplanted, consisting of 411 singles, 473 doubles, 149 threes - a total of 1894 hairs. This result is after 14 months.
