  1. In my opinion it should be prescribed on a case by case basis. The reality is a lot of folks will continue to lose ground even while on Fin or can't take for life due to sides. Then there are the cases who without Fin will do well for long period of time, as I mentioned in my example. So it is not a black or white issue at all. Some doctors will insist on patients taking Fin in every case. This approach is also questionable in my opinion. The reality is a lot of patients proceeds with HT without Fin, they may regret this sooner or later on. So in conclusion, HT without Fin should be a calculated Riks, and you should ensure you have green light from reputable Dr.
  2. This is an interesting topic. My answer would be yes, depending on the circumstances. To illustrate this I give an example: - A 40 plus year old man with a full head of hair with good density and only minor recession in the temples area (NW 2-3). His familiy history is not bad and he pursues a lighter medical therapy (like topical minox or prp ). But he does not take propecia. - A 27 year old man with more agressive and advanced hair loss, let's say NW 3-4.. He take propecia. I think it is not difficult to see who carries the greater end risk.
  3. I have been following Bald truth for a while now. According to them this still happens regularly even with top Doctors for these kind of operations. So it may not be that unusual to go back for touch up. Not sure whether you agree with that or not
  4. I think they can help if you have very mild hair loss. Help Hair Vitamins I took them for a while with good effects. But later on I developed an intolerance
  5. No you are not NW2 A. maybe NW2 maximum. but you are still very young
  6. I guess it depends on your perspective. When you are talking hair, yes 27 is very young. You are to expect a life long continuation and receding hairline. Of course you can hope on hair meds to slow the whole thing down for hopefully a long time. Not sure Bisanga would say anything different, he is a straight shooter
  7. personally I am not a big fan of such minor procedures at such a young age
  8. I also think Mwamba is somebody to consider in these cases with beard hair and limited donor
  9. To me both Fin and Minox are out of question. I guess it is a personal choice.
  10. To me, it would make only sense if you were losing ground on fin. Besides, NW3 at 41, you were making a great candidate for HT in my opinion
  11. Looking good. How old are you? And why do you want to add Minox oral?
  12. Sides can appear even after 10 years plus. Or the med can lose efficiency. I do not think it is unrealistic or ridiculoous at all. Even if it works well, it will only slow down and not completely stop the loss over the long term in most cases
  13. Regardless of the final outcome, the approach of this Dr is unethical, operating somebody at 22 whose hairline has barely started to recede. Does not sound like the Dr educated you on the subject either.
  14. I think 22 is way too yoiung for hair transplant. I strongly advise against
  15. Thanks for these replies, it is quite helpful. I viewed the HT rather as a nice to have and not as a necessity. But I am currently considering all options. I take the point to add something to my hair loss regime and potentially push back surgery. However, as I am not not open to propecia, I will try laser cap. Wait a few weeks and see from there. Regarding PRP, i am quite happy with this. My hair is table and density has improved.
  16. Thanks for this reply and the kind words. I will take advice and seek reputable doctor
  17. Hi, I am considering a hairtransplant and interested in your views. By the way, this is my first post but I have been visiting this forum since a year and find the input provided here quite valuable. Age: 40 years Medication: I am not on propecia but I have been on PRP for 4 years with good effect. Objective of surgery: No lowering of the hairline but redesign hairline the corners in a conservative manner. Any views would be highly appreciated. thanks
