  1. If you can deal with a shaved head, that is fhe way to go. You will avoid the hassle of HTs and shit like Finansteride
  2. To me this this makes sense, careful planning of the donor hair. What I am seeing a lot is the contrary when patients travel to those hair transplant in Turkey, they are completely uninformed of preventive measures against hair loss and get 3000 grafts for some minor recession in their 20s.This borders on malpractice IMO
  3. Well I think the HT journey will likely just become a hassle in the long term. But that is not to say that you should not do a hairtransplant. It is a kind of a trade off.
  4. I would generally agree with the observations of JDEE0. My recommendation for you is to not do a HT.
  5. I have been trying to better understand the link between hairtransplants and hair loss progression in the past months. Unfortunately there are little long term experience reports on HTs available on the internet. Following my observations, most men eventually lose a major part of their hair. Most men over age 65/70 do not have good hair anymore. This may even apply to men who had a decent head of hair around age 40. If you remain something like a NW 3 in the higher age (with only some front or corner recession), that is very good but you normally then would have a good head of hair in your 40s. (like the Martin Sheens, Tom Sellecks, Tom Berrengers etc) So the whole hairtransplant thing seems to be to buy you a number of years when you are young and want to look at your best but eventually you will have to do other HT down the route. In the higher age, hair may not matter that much or compromise solution is acceptable? In most cases, Finansteride will not stop but only slow down hair loss over the long term.Plus, there remain legitim questions of tolerance and effectiveness over the very long term (20 or 30m years plus). I do not want to sound to be overly negative but is that a fair summary in your view?
  6. Personally I would not even consider Fin. The horror stories are for real. But I will say this, in the vast majority of cases the side effects are not persistent. However, the idea to think that it is a given that you can take Fin for life without sides is plain wrong. It is not rare that sides will occur at one time or another, they can appear even after many years. Also hair loss will continue to progress even while on Fin. I really like what Dr Feller wrote abot Fin, I could not agree more: https://fellermedical.com/proven-hair-loss-drugs/
  7. While I do think Fin is overrated on this Forum, in terms of what it can do in the long term and the risks it entails, I would probably not recommend surgery without Fin in your particular case. The specifics of your case should be throughly discussed with your surgeon prior to the suregry. The analysis whether Fin is needed should be done on a case by case basis in my opinion.
  8. I explained it in my post, so I recommend you read that again. And I also qualified it that this is my personal opinion. So you think hair loss is finished after age 37? You must be very naive then. If you call NW 2 very noticable you must still be very young. Anyway, my opinion stands whether you agree or not I do not care.
  9. He is done now. Most men lose it sooner or later. But in his case I am a but stunned to see it this early, as he always had excellent hair on TV at least. In the other picture I would assume that is a partial piece. His frontal hair is still there, could that have been from a previous HT, well I guess rather not but yoiu never know
  10. Again this is my personal opinion. It is not meant to be understood in absolute terms at all. This means personally I would not have done it, especially with what I know now at age 40. But what is right for me may not be necessary right for others 🙂 In a case like this, I am looking at NW2 and age 27-it would not bother me much to begin with. What most do not realize, your perspective changes with age on this. Add to that, donor assessment is more certain around age end 30s and risks aregenerally lower. And the idea of having 2 hair transplants before age 40 is not very appealing. Also, the more transplants you get, the more chances are increased something that yoiu have an outcome you do not like. It is all about being smart you know and think long term. But if it bothers you very much, I can understand going ahead with this at age 27. It is not shocking to me.
  11. I used to think like you but I changed my view. But it is only my personsal opinion which is that you should not do this kind of small hair line Ops before age 35-40. Why? Because Fin is far from a miracle drug and hair loss will progress regardless of Fin. If the hairline moves back an inch...ou already need another OP and you may be around 35., long way to go. You have to keep in mind also that Fin is really proven for other areas than hairlone. Therefore, I think it is better to delay these kind of Ops until at least age 35-40.I may be in small minority but I tell you truth 🙂
  12. Good result. But in my opinion, HT was too soon. The patient should have waited
  13. Now you are backtracking 😉. In case you have only mild balding, yes then it makes more sense, I could agree. But certainly not in general sense as you phrased before. Let's leave it at that then
  14. I asked you which Doctor told you that? It became clear that no reputable Dr told you that. Your entire basis are some questionable studies. I am going to leave it at that.
  15. You take these studies at face value but you have to pay attention to sponsoring also. Bottom line is that I am not sure I can agree with on the 10 plus year rule while on Fin. I have heard otherwise. But it is relevant to keep you expectations regarding Fin on check before embarking on HT. In the German Forum there have been a number of reportss complaining about severe sides after several years of Fin. It is naive to think that it is a given that you can take a particular drug for life. And yes, Fin may not be strong enough to hold off the loss, that is pretty established. My whole point was rather full disclosure to the thread opener . That is all. I am not saying you gave bad advice
  16. From what you have written, I understand that this is rather your personal opinion. I certainly would not make a general rule out of the 10-20 years. My thoughts on Fin are as followed. The reality is most guys will progress slowly regardless of Fin. In a best case scenario, it can slow hair loss for decades. However that is not a given, sides can appear even after many years or the effects of Fin can fade. It is a medication that works best for mid scalp and crown, not the hairline. I think one needs to check expectations in check.A truly conservative HT plan involves a planning without Fin in my opinion.
  17. To be honest, being at the end of your 20s is still young as well. Who told you that with the 10-20 years? Is that only your opinion or which Dr told you that?
  18. I also think you should not do HT at this stage
  19. Considering the description of you hair your very young age, you do not seem to be a good candidate for hairtransplant. It is a life long journey. I hope you realize that. I would recommend Bisanga for consultation as he is probably one of the most honest doctors around. I suggest you go into consulttaion well prepared with questions
  20. I would agree with the names mentioend by the moderator. Mwamba used to do this in an unshaven procedure (Donor and recipient) but it was more expensive. He still probably does so he is somebody you might consider.
  21. Bisanga is one of the very best. And also on consultation he is on the most honest guys. However, lately he seems to be getting all the credit and rightly so probably. But there are still other top Drs out there
  22. In my opinion it should be prescribed on a case by case basis. The reality is a lot of folks will continue to lose ground even while on Fin or can't take for life due to sides. Then there are the cases who without Fin will do well for long period of time, as I mentioned in my example. So it is not a black or white issue at all. Some doctors will insist on patients taking Fin in every case. This approach is also questionable in my opinion. The reality is a lot of patients proceeds with HT without Fin, they may regret this sooner or later on. So in conclusion, HT without Fin should be a calculated Riks, and you should ensure you have green light from reputable Dr.
