SMP removal after HT
EvoXOhio replied to Caradubaxu's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I didn’t want the SMP to be visible at the hairline because that would make it look obvious. So I had the artist start the SMP about a half inch behind the hairline. Because of this, you don’t see the dots on the hairline but you get the density illusion with all the hair behind it. -

SMP removal after HT
EvoXOhio replied to Caradubaxu's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
A lot of people (myself included) have longer hair and SMP. The SMP helps with the illusion of density. You may want to wait until it’s grown out and see how it looks. -
Background: I’ve been on finasteride and topical minoxidil for 3 years, and my hair loss has been stable. I’d never see more than 5 hairs when I washed or combed my hair. I got a HT almost 2 years ago, and I’ve been growing my hair long ever since. I’ve been concerned that topical min was not able to get to my scalp due to having so much hair. So a month ago I switched to oral min. In the past few days I’ve noticed significantly more hair loss. I didn’t count the hairs but it’s at least 10 times as much. So now the question is, is oral more effective and I’m shedding miniaturized hairs that will now grow in thicker and fuller, or is oral not doing its job and I’m losing hair because my scalp isn’t getting topical any more? Any harm in reintroducing topical min while also doing oral? Best of both worlds?

Is temple restoration necessary?
EvoXOhio replied to SoSoz's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Anecdotally speaking, of all my balding friends, almost none of them care about their hairline receding. What they hate and are self conscious of is their bald crown. I was actually surprised when I joined here how many people were ok with a transplanted hairline and a bald crown. -

I still disagree, but that’s just my opinion. To me it’s more aesthetically pleasing when someone has a receded hairline with a full crown, versus a nice hairline and a bald crown. To each their own though. -

I disagree. For me the worst part about hair loss is a bald crown. A receded hairline and temple points can just look like a mature age appropriate hairline, whereas a bald crown is what screams “I’m bald”. If I had to choose between having a receded hairline with a full crown versus a perfect hairline with a bald crown, I choose the former every time. Which is in fact exactly what I did. Everyone is different of course, but for many people like myself, we feel the bald crown is the worst part of hair loss. -
1850 grafts hairline FUE, Dr Lars Heitmann, 12 months result

Good lord that’s an Aftermath level hairline -
I’ve not seen any change from it and I’ve been on about 6 months.

It’s probably thinning, but with the high amount of dandruff you have it could be something else. Start washing your hair with nizoral twice a week (no more no less). At the very least it should fire your dandruff, and it may help regrow your hair if whatever was causing your dandruff is causing the hair loss. I also echo getting on finasteride and minoxidil.

Top is 6 months, bottom is 12. My hair is longer plus I had full scalp SMP at 10 months so my 12 month photos look denser than they would have without it.

Do you have any immediate post op pics?

I can’t find a picture, but in his most recent standup special you can see his FUT scar a few times in the right lighting.
