  1. I'd like to, but once something is out on the internet its there forever, and unfortunately I have some eternally juvenile people in my professional and personal circles that would never tire of tweeks, nicknaming etc. But check out this video here of a guy with a poor donor who got a hair transplant just large enough so that he could do a buzz cut. Adding some smp and shaving it further down to a zero guard would make it look better imo. Also posting a link to a topic below of another guy with some diffused thinning who got some great smp and is looking to add some fue too.
  2. Looking to do the same, since i've been buzzing down during lockdown I realized I like the buzzed look now, didn't care for it when I was younger but my face has matured in a good way over the years. I've had two procedures done on my front so my face is framed with real hair, and I continue to take finasteride and minoxidil to help hang on to as much real hair as possible. Later this year I'll be looking to get some smp done to conceal the scars from my HT procedures. From there any future loss will be a combination solution using smp primarly and enough real hair from FUE HTs to maintain a '3d' look.
  3. Most doctors provide a spray bottle solution to use the first 1-2 weeks after the procedure to keep the area moist and promote healing, and to help manage the itching you'll experience more and more as the days go by. My doctor provided a bottle of copper peptides solution, the brand was Graftcyte, after my procedures and I sprayed it on about hourly for the first two weeks. You want to be really careful up to 10 days, the grafts will be anchored under the skin by then. Stuff like coconut oil, some kinds of aloe formulas should be alright, just be careful that it doesn't cake to the skin and form a 'shell' like barrier over the area that you have to rub to get off, you don't want to be rubbing those areas in these early days after the procedure. I've noticed a few aloe gel solutions out there that do that. Check with your doctor and see if his not giving you any moisturizing recommendations was an over-sight. And whatever you do apply test it on your arm or some other safe area first to make sure that when it drys its fully absorbed and doesn't create any kind of barrier shell on the skin.
  4. Welcome to the forum Covid19, we normally only here about you through the news. So you are dealing with hairloss too, and you've only been around since last year. This may be the first known case of kharma-based MPB! You should be fine, its called something like a 'river' effect, from the swelling/contraction, drying/moisture after the procedure. What you really want to watch out for is bleeding, no blood no problems.
  5. No problem, copy/pasting one of my posts from a previous forum thread here, my tips based on my own experience. Also check out the link below to the forum moderator's video showing how he applies it. Best of luck. ========================On applying dermmatch: I started applying it when my hair was wet because more of the scalp is exposed when your hair is wet and clumped together, but its actually better to apply it when your hair/scalp are dry. Don''t even wet the applicator, everything being dry is best. Do some experimentation/evaluation before going out into the world with it. One thing to be very aware of is the effect of LIGHTING -indoor/outdoor/sunlight on how it looks -don't just apply it in your bathroom and assume because it looks great in the mirror that its going to look great in the other lighting conditions you are going to be in. Brighter indoor lighting and outdoor/sunlight require more finesse. Take some pictures, a mirror with you outside, etc the other lighting situations you are normally in, and then compare them with how you looked in the bathroom mirror. That will help you find the best application method. Shorter hair makes it easier to comb through so that it applies more evenly across your hair shafts to give a more consistent look, but then there's how close of a match your natural hair is with the dermatch. I consider my hair color to be light brown, but medium brown was the best match. Even the dark brown looks alright on the top but then I would have to apply it to the sides of my hair too for a consistent look. Anyway, the darker your hair the more consistent your results will look in my opinion, seems to be in terms of how light reflects off everything -darker colors absorb light while lighter colors reflect it, more color variations in reflections. I would apply it mostly for the scalp coverage and to thicken up the hairs, then have a little dry towel to rub over the top of my hair to clear off the excess that can also give your hair a dull look if you apply too much. And then I would sprinkle on the toppik fibers - a slightly better match for my hair color as well, and then comb that through, then style and hairspray. It can be a great way to strategically plan and delay HTs, but the more you continue to loose the more difficult it gets to effectively apply. =================
  6. 1. Wait 2, maybe 3 weeks to be extra safe, after the hair transplant before you start applying and then no issue applying it daily. 2. no, start as soon as question 1 answer and no problems applying it during the next 12 months 3. dermmatch is formulated to come off with just about any mixture of 'detergent' and water -detergent being a shampoo/body wash/soap that produces foam when mixed with water. The soap molecules latch on to the dermmatch and break it down, and then it washes off.
  7. Yes at the link here: https://www.bernsteinmedical.com/research/graft-anchoring-in-hair-transplantation/
  8. The internet is pretty much a toilet, infested with trolls who get off on causing drama and confusion in other people's lives by spreading disinformation. @HelpfulFriend , unless there's at least a shred of supporting evidence, its not really being helpful or friendly starting topics like this, even to debunk them. Guys are under enough stress and paranoia about their hair loss already when they come here. We should be striving to be the safe harbor in the sh*tstorm that is the internet.
  9. Unless you look alot/exactly like Travolta, how he looks shaved shouldn't be a major factor on whether you should shave your head. There's -the genetic symmetries of your facial features and head/ear shape -how much you personally like the way you look shaved -how much others like the way you look shaved -and appreciating the importance of the differences in how we are being viewed - 2 dimensional pictures are not as accurate as mirrors, 3-dimensional video is not as accurate as being viewed in-person by another person. -Don't put so much stock in pictures and videos. Alot of times people report not even recognizing movie stars in-person because they have 'photogenic' facial features that the cameras emphasize, but that our own eyes do not.
  10. Wow, that's very charitable of you. So all you do is throw out conjectures and expect other people to provide actual evidence. Go ahead and bookmark this topic and check back in about 10 years.
  11. Of course you don't want your body's healing processes having to deal with covid and a HT at the same time, but otherwise no problem getting a HT before or after covid.
  12. Your grafts are fine, by 10 days they are secure and anchored to their new blood supplies under the skin like the rest of your hairs. Pimples are just mild infections caused by dirt and oil blockages under the skin, and they are not enough to destroy hair follicles. Just let them heal on their own and keep using clean water. -On popping them, I wouldn't bother with that. @Richie888 mentions using a needle and that is a cleaner way of pushing out the infected puss, but when you do that there's still a chance some of the puss under the skin spreads out to surrounding tissue and causes additional pimples.
  13. That chart is not based on 2.5mg dosage. Up further on that page the recommended dosage is starting at 2 pills a day (5mg) and higher. The potential for side effects are much lower when taking less than 5mg a day.
  14. Yea that was how I found out about oral minoxidil and got the prescription, never needed to try another doctor.
  15. One of the ways minoxidil works to give you the fuller head of hair look is by extending your hair growth cycles so more of them are growing at the same time. The shedding is just some of your hairs cycling out getting ready for the new longer cycles. If you're going to do finasteride to keep your hair follicles around as long as possible, minoxidil is a great addition to enhance them while you have them. But if you have trouble sticking to the regimen of applying it each day it might not be something worth trying. But then there's also oral minoxidil, I use it, popping a pill like you do with finasteride. There's a topic here where you can read more about it:
  16. That makes sense and is ethical if we're talking about borderline candidates for hair transplants with aggressive hair loss patterns and less than optimal donor reserves.
  17. You may have reached a point where your anxiety about the insomnia is becoming a prominent contributing factor to the insomnia itself. And adding or subtracting this or that food/drug/activity may give you enough of a sense of taking control that it produces a placebo effect that will make the insomnia go away. You could be at one of the transitional points in your body as you age, by the time alot of guys start to seriously wrestle with hair loss they are into their middle years where body chemistry is changing, the resiliency of youth that lets us get away with bad health habits fades and can blind side guys. Are you exercising? be sure to get in some exercise each day, the physical and psychological benefits of doing that are hard to overstate. Though I wouldn't do that too close to bedtime. ====Also on stopping caffeine, you'll want to give that some more time to evaluate if that is helping you In general, the more caffeine you are used to consuming, the more severe the withdrawal symptoms are likely to be. Symptoms of withdrawal begin 12 to 24 hours after the last caffeine intake and can last two to nine days. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/15496-caffeine-how-to-hack-it-and-how-to-quit-it Look into extended release melatonin too, where there are two layers in the pill and the second layer doesn't trigger for a few hours so it helps you get to sleep and stay asleep. I used one when I was switching shifts at work to help get used to a 3rd shift I had to cover for a while. https://www.amazon.com/delayed-release-melatonin/s?k=delayed+release+melatonin
  18. Sure these are my top candidates https://scalpmicrousa.com/ https://gerowhairink.com/ https://www.aheadink.com/ and here's a good jumping off site for more information about the industry and different cities https://www.teammicro.com/smp/
  19. I'm probably going to be doing some smp and looked up who did the work for @Gatsby -its Caitlin James and her operations are based in Australia where he is, not sure if she travels occasionally? https://www.smpaus.com.au/about-us/ I'd love to get the work done with her based on his results but I'm in the US, and due to potentially needing touch ups every few years, traveling to the other side of the world every time for that is not something I'm willing to do when there are some top practitioners in the US too.
  20. More hair is always better, even if you lose some of them to permanent shockloss. Think of these vulnerable hairs as semi-permanent hair fibers you don't need to apply each day for the foreseeable future Work with your doc using those pics to estimate the extra minimum number of grafts to ensure you get the acceptable coverage even in the worse case scenario.
  21. The hair system was an alternative suggestion. To interpret that as some kind of threat is just pot stirring. Your forum name choice is becoming more revealing, a play on the word caricature, as in caricaturing someone suffering from hair loss. Like the forum user named 'Jolly' who goes around negatively posting on everyone else's threads. You have no credibility with me going forward and I feel sorry for anyone that sincerely takes the time to reply to anything you post.
  22. Nothing in this topic hasn't already been covered before. There are years of pages and pages of member considerations, questions and actual procedures documented on the forum, and a search function to access them. There's far more to be gained by utilizing that than this topic thread. Most of us come at this from healthy caution, skepticism and long term thinking. That's why we're here. And at the end of the day those of us that pull the trigger do so knowing there are no guarantees or certainty when it comes to hair restoration. But not everyone can live with that, and those are the ones that shouldn't get hair transplants.
