  1. Another riff on hair transplants being short term, and the concern of reading about it 'more and more'. Can see in the OP's post history he's participated in a few of the previous ones. And I'm not accusing the OP of this, but I'd be curious to know how many shell accounts there are on the forum where someone is using multiple accounts to create fake momentum for ideas and drama. I see a similar situation over in the SMP section where the same question/issue again and again there is whether the inks ever completely disappear and are 100% safe.
  2. Including taking finasteride the previous 7 weeks when you weren't having the issue. All kinds of things can cause insomnia https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/insomnia/symptoms-causes/syc-20355167
  3. ^Taking everything you say here together, if she is going to tell the whole world when its over and try to use it against me in the meantime, I'm not really concerned about the ethics of her knowing -but she would know. Because in that war of the roses I'd be using it to embarrass her by mounting it backwards/sideways, inside-out etc when we have guests over or I pick her up somewhere. He'd probably still going to take your rug off after he knocks you out, and then stuff it down your pants or tape it over your mouth, etc. Don't give up your agency and be at the mercy of waking up to even more humiliation! But these clearly demonstrate that fake hair will never be the answer for most guys. Hair Transplant Industry please keep marching onwards to that ever brighter future...
  4. The only side effect i got was some light headedness the first 1-2 week period, and i got that with the topical too. About the heart rate/blood pressure, no problems and I got a baseline blood pressure monitor from walmart and used that before and after I started to compare and see if there was anything I couldn't obviously feel. Minoxidil has to be converted by enzyme activity to be utilized by the body. The topical minox uses the enzymes in your scalp and the oral uses the liver. Not everybody is blessed with good enzymes in their scalp but the liver is pretty much a processing sure thing so more people are likely to respond.
  5. Congrats I've been using 2.5mg since the summer and I agree about keeping it below 5mg to minimize side effect chances. I didn't last long on the topical when I tried it years ago due to scalp skin conditions it irritated. I'm in the US too, were the 5mg pills cheaper for you? I get 2.5mg pills and they are pretty cheap, and with a goodrx discount its about $15 for a 60 day supply.
  6. Some other suggestions related to the search feature. Design wise, its off to the side and easy to be overlooked. -I pulled up some other websites and see how they center and widen it considerably more -Also maybe create a site mascot, something mildly humorous like "hairy the follicle' a droopy follicle, with some oversized binoculars next to or looking over the search bar through some hair. Have a contest for the artistically inclined around here to submit their candidates, the rest of us to vote on, could be fun.
  7. There's a lot of duplicate topics/questions, making it pretty clear the forum's search feature is very under-utilized. What about integrating the search feature into the topic creation process to try to cut down a bit on those? Maybe something like the 'auto-complete' suggestions that search engines do now. Where a forum search gets automatically generated for similar topics based on what the poster is describing etc. It could happen in real-time as they type or right before the post goes live pointing the user to other places this has already been answered/discussed.
  8. 2 procedures on the front, most recent was about 10yrs ago, all still there. Most of the '...more and more' on this topic is pretty much trolling, people with an un-diagnosed medical condition, or people who went to a chop-shop and had hair taken from outside the safe donor area. Two pages back in this section was the last little 'discussion' barely a week ago. Try not to feed the trolls.
  9. I'm in the USA, my HT doctor charged me an $80 fee for the visit/prescription. Refills are good for a year, each refill is for 60 2.5mg pills and that costs around $25 US dollars. And I use a goodrx pharamacy discount card that knocks about $10 off so I end up paying like $15 for a 2 month supply. I'm not sure if he will want to see me next year before writing another prescription for another year's worth of refills, but if he does I'm ok with that. About your question on what is an 'annual refill fee'. I"m not sure, but if I had to guess that sounds like what they are going to charge you to write a prescription for a year's worth of pill refills each year. If it is, $25 is alot cheaper than a doctor's visit, which in the US is what alot of doctors will require you to do occasionally before they write a renewal prescription of refills. Its more of a cover-their-a$$ kind of thing to make sure you have nothing obviously wrong with your health that could lead them to getting sued for malpractice, etc. for prescribing the medication. Topical minoxidil doesn't require a prescription in the USA, its sold 'over the counter' in grocery stores, etc. If you do need a prescription where you live to get topical minoxidil and that's all you have, then yes you will need a new prescription for the oral minoxidil. I'm not sure about price shopping to find the lowest prices. Be careful with online pharmacies, people do get scammed and sometimes you may be actually getting something that is not minoxidil and even harmful to your health. That's why I stick with traditional pharmacies, they have accountability to law enforcement and the community they are located in. You haven't said where you are located in your posts, but you are quoting prices in dollars. If you are in the USA go to this site and put in your address, the medicine you are looking for, and it will give you the various prices that the pharmacies around you are charging, and discounts you get with a goodrx card. I already selected minoxidil in the link here. https://www.goodrx.com/minoxidil
  10. Also the part of your post about taking the oral and topical at the same time. No need to do that, you are just increasing your chances of getting side effects by exposing your system to more of the drug.
  11. Easiest way to get a prescription is to go to a hair transplant doctor consult, mention it in the appointment setup to verify the doctor is willing to write the prescription. You may get charged a doctor visit fee too because he's writing a script and asking you about your medical history etc. I have scalp skin conditions that the topical irritates so I take a daily low dose -2.5mg. 1.25mg is the lowest effective dose, Dr Bisanga prescribes 5mg but I wouldn't go higher than 2.5 because I get results and its in my system half as long as the 5mg. Minoxidil was originally developed to treat high blood pressure and the oral form is more potent and systemic than the topical, so if you already have issues with blood pressure, are overweight etc you probably don't want to risk even taking the low dose version for hair loss. Along with being in good health/checking with your doc, if you decide to take it you should get a blood pressure monitor, doesn't need to be fancy or expensive, and take daily measurements a week or two before you start so you have a baseline idea of what your normal readings are, then compare those with your readings the first few weeks to make sure you aren't sensitive to it in some strange way. And I take it at night before bed so that most of the time its in my system I'm relaxed and sleeping.
  12. Its not that finasteride loses efficacy over time, its because it doesn't eliminate all DHT in your system. The remaining DHT that does circulate continues to do damage to your hair follicles over time. So depending on how much it lowers your DHT and how sensitive your hair follicles are to the DHT, you get a new slower hair loss rate that is hopefully very very very ...slower.
  13. Hmm do you have a double crown? Or have you been wearing a hat or just combing your hair here so that it exposes your thinning area the most? If you don't have a double crown looks like the one you do have is on the right here with the arrow. That large thinned area to the left -do you have any history of inflammation/itching/scarring conditions in that area? and has this seemed to happen suddenly or been creeping along in recent years? and how old are you? And including some more pics from the overhead, like looking, front to back would be helpful, too.
  14. I agree it looks too dark and the dots are pretty big, I see your note about not being able to travel abroad, but like @DenverBuff1989 said you should still try to reach out to some reputable clinics abroad and have them take a look at these pics and what you are being told. There's a member here that operates an SMP clinic and posts results occasionally in this section, and they are pretty impressive. He's in the US near New York City, but maybe he can still give you an opinion about whether you should proceed or stop based on what they are telling you. His member profile indicates he was last online over the weekend, you could try to send him a private message or call the clinic number, details for him are below @hairthere (201) 482-4529 https://www.aheadink.com
  15. Cutting 5mg pills 4 ways to get 1.25mg is very common, guys have been doing it for years since the drug came off patent. I do it too and if you can handle the 1mg dose the extra .25 is not that much more and alot less than the 5mg dose.
  16. Just part of the normal healing process from getting cut hundreds or more usually thousands of times. I've heard fair skinned people have the redness longer generally, and I am fair skinned and it took about 3 months to completely fade away after my procedures. With you -about all else being equal, was it? Was your first procedure bigger than the others? and/or where the grafts more densely packed together? I would expect more slit cuts/ more slits closer together, to cause more trauma and potentially additional healing time. And were you getting good sleep, diet, no stressors going on in your life, no concurrent medications/conditions that may have slowed your healing capabilities after the first transplant?
  17. Shedding can start as early as the first week and just like when the results come in, its not a synchronized process unfortunately, which can cause frustration and anxiety. I remember my left front side after my first procedure came in quicker than the right, wondering if it was something I did in my sleep or the doc or his techs messed up. Turned out that the right side just came in more gradually. All you can do is trust the process and be patient at this point. https://www.bernsteinmedical.com/hair-transplant/basics/shedding-after-transplant/
  18. When talking about early stage post op that's in terms of days, and the grafts are anchored under the skin and secure by 10 days. 3 months after the procedure you can't damage the grafts anymore than you could damage your other native hair. Go back to working out and shampooing like you did before the procedure and get ready to start enjoying your results coming in, around 4 months is when it starts to pickup for most guys.
  19. Birth defects are not a potential side effect of guys taking it, they don't damage your sperm. Its just that they are possible if a pregnant woman handles the pills. https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/dutasteride-oral-route/precautions/drg-20063575 Women and children should not use this medicine. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should not handle or touch the capsules. Dutasteride can be absorbed through the skin and can cause birth defects in male fetuses. If a pregnant woman does come in contact with this medicine, the affected area should be washed right away with soap and water, especially if the capsule is broken. https://www.drugs.com/mtm/dutasteride.html Important Information Dutasteride should never be taken by a woman or a child. Dutasteride can cause birth defects if a woman is exposed to it during pregnancy. Dutasteride capsules should not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or may become pregnant
  20. I don't currently but would definitely do it later if hair loss progression accelerated. I remember seeing pictures of Kevin Costner as he got older and noticed how his hair is looking blonder, trying to take advantage of minimizing the scalp/skin color contrast. Not sure what all he's done, probably at least one hair transplant, hair pieces.
  21. Thanks I updated my post The hairs above the skin that you can see and comb are actually dead so I don't see how your combing habits could mutated anything.
  22. You can train your hair between washings and get haircuts so that it will lay certain ways, but the directions your hairs grow out of the scalp are genetically determined and don't change. When the doctors/techs are making the incisions using magnification they are looking closely at how the surrounding hairs are emerging from the skin to determine the angular placements for the grafts. The way your hair grows looking at this pic I'd say he did a pretty good job, the left and right sides continue in those directions and there's a slight preference to the left in the middle that is curved a little more in the grafted area -but I think that will look good.
  23. Its easy to focus on the fun and pleasurable aspects of men and women getting together, and forget about the underlying biology of why we play these games, regardless of whether you want kids on a conscience level. Hair restoration goes beyond personal well being, this is about facilitating bonds between men and women by improving their sexual attractiveness, confidence, so that they can have, raise the next generation! Why, when you think about it the legit ones are almost downright saints! /sermon over
  24. Mine was Dr Bradley Wolf in the US. The haircut places I've been to do have the glass displays of various hair products but I haven't had one of the barbers recommend them. Probably afraid it will cut into what would otherwise be their tip! I would guess the salons that primarily cater to women would actually push them though.
  25. Yea this many days post op its going to be harder for you to mess up your results than optimize them. Don't know about he industry in general, maybe some others will chime in. I remember my doctor's office front desk had some shampoo and graft spray bottles off to the side, but they didn't try to push them and I didn't even ask about them.
