  1. Remember someone asking about them a while back, linking below, the before/after result pics they posted looked like they were using some concealer or maybe had a HT to make them look better. Looking at their website team section, that owner Jenn Churchill has an instagram-ish model look to her. I don't know man, hate to judge a book by the hot cover, but outside of dating that counts against her in my personal book. See if you can take her out to dinner and grill her on the names of those top SMP artists she's mentored under. And if they're real then go with one of them. Seriously though, one of our members @EvoXOhio recently got great results adding SMP to his crown for density with a top SMP guy Mike Muszynski at HairlineInk in Chicago. '
  2. Those that think they can't grow a beard shouldn't give up without trying minoxidil. Google or search youtube for results, its no joke. And facial hair is not like scalp hair, if you apply the minoxidil long enough -1 to 2 years, those vellus hairs it converts to terminal hairs are permanent even if you stop.
  3. Like cutting up the back of your head to extract hairs and implant them to other parts of your head, etc. Any major cosmetic change to improve your appearance is going to involve risk and be a gamble to some degree. Nobody can guarantee results, and if they say they can ask them to put it in legally-binding writing and watch how quickly they change their tune.
  4. I think the estimates of how many guys can pull off a shaved look is a big unknown and probably a big underestimate. Because most guys never dare to do it. Myself included up until this prolonged lockdown/work from home stretch we've had. And it turns out I like it and I've gotten compliments on it, so even though I've had some transplants I'm looking into SMP for going forward and just doing a mixture of mostly ink and maybe minor additional procedures. Look at these pictures from @hairthere gallery of his shaved head patient results. Alot of them are just every day normal guys. edit -adding the link to scalpmicrousa too, didn't realize alot of hairthere's have their faces blurred out. https://www.aheadink.com/gallery https://scalpmicrousa.com/results/hairline/
  5. Whenever someone mentions shaving their eyebrows can't help but think of Robert Blake in Lost Highway. The fact that years later he pretty much got away with murdering his wife makes me wonder how much effort beyond shaving his eyebrows was actually needed to come off so creepy.
  6. That's cool to generally speak about the possibility of it, but since it is pretty rare that it happens, when a particular case is mentioned, like when you say you experienced it, I think its important to also give any known potentially mitigating factors that came along with the particular case being mentioned.
  7. Nice little ad there from people using Milena Lardi Beauty Medical ink there. lol They paint a pretty bleak picture of the world outside of them. But even people who have had their procedures done using that have complained about it not fading, etc. Milena herself used to post here. The pigment breakdown rates are unique based on each patient. And for the permanent touchups my understanding is they re-apply the ink on top of the existing dots to replace the ink your body has expelled.
  8. @kirkland I appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge about SMP, but I've noticed when you mention your lingering redness you often leave out that your scalp area was sunburned when you got your SMP. I think that's an important factor to mention every time you talk about your erythema. I just did a forum search and found your post from late last year where you mentioned it for reference. ---- Posted November 25, 2020 There was one mitigating factor that likely contributed to my outcome: sunburn. When I went for the treatment, I had a sunburned scalp after just having come from vacation. It was ill-advised for me to have the treatment in that condition and it most likely led to the trauma from the treatment. Make sure you don't make the same mistake I did and you should be fine but please make sure that the tech/clinic/tools are all above board
  9. About the finasteride, you may have some borderline things going on with your health/hormones, and adding the finasteride is just enough to give you the side effects. You may be able to get all that diagnosed with some blood lab tests and address them. Here are some guys with good reputations on youtube that you should check out. Don't give up yet, educate yourself some more on the psychological/physiological/fear mongering sides of the finasteride topic. The guy from the second video down has a clinic that offers blood labs/analysis for guys taking finasteride here
  10. Dr. Brad Wolf is in Cincinnati, OH. He only does hair restoration and been at it for a few decades. Only does one procedure a day.
  11. Great results, a few dashes of hair fibers and it would be difficult to tell you were thinning there at all. Hopefully you've got some more gains to come so even that won't be a consideration.
  12. He does have them at the bottom of his gallery section, but I remember him posting that he doesn't do density procedures for long hair anymore because of the difficulty and damage it can do to this equipment. https://www.aheadink.com/gallery
  13. You can use nizoral or any other dandruff shampoo now. It will have no effect on growth or the survival of the grafts at this point.
  14. Beliefs without hard evidence shouldn't have such strong adjectives like massive. What we're really seeing in this poll and the topic in general is how susceptible we are to being biased by anecdotal stories from other people (some true others false) and our own personal experience. 48% side effect rate in our poll currently. I'm not sure aspirin could be FDA re-approved if they used these folks. LOL This made me just think to back when I started doing research for SMP, there was a guy on a different forum from ours that reported he was diagnosed with a blood cancer about 6 months after he get his SMP done. He admitted there was no actual proof that the SMP had caused it, but he believed it did and wanted to tell everybody else about it so they could make their 'own decision.' Wouldn't surprise me if he was actually one of these hair transplant clinic reps trying to spread some fear to help steer people away from SMP. Either way, the point is what actually caused blood cancer in a middle-aged man were almost certainly some combination of lifetime of poor lifestyle habits and bad genetic luck. And when it comes to sexual performance issues, the same can be said with even more emphasis on poor lifestyle and diet habits. And of course we're all getting older and even those of us doing everything right in terms of lifestyle and diet are still falling apart. https://www.webmd.com/erectile-dysfunction/news/20030804/erectile-dysfunction-common-with-age The Younger the Man, the Better the Function Results showed that age played a primary role in men who said they had ED. The older the men, the higher the reports of ED. The reports ranged from "good" function among younger men to a steady decline to "poor" among the older group. The majority of younger men (74%) rated sexual function as good or very good; only 10% of men older than 80 rated sexual function the same. Only 12% of younger men reported big or moderate problems. But nearly a quarter to a third of men older than 50 reported this degree of severity in sexual function. 2% reported first experiencing ED before age 40 4% reported first experiencing ED between ages 40 to 49 26% reported first experiencing ED between ages 50 to 59 40% reported first experiencing ED between ages 60 to 69 Men with a healthy lifestyle and no chronic disease had the lowest risk for erectile dysfunction; the greatest difference was seen for men aged 65-79. For instance, men who exercised at least three hours per week had a 30% lower risk for ED than those who exercised little. Obesity, smoking, and excessive TV watching were also associated with having a greater risk of erectile dysfunction.
  15. I agree that some SMP and HT could blend everything for a better overall effect. But I remember someone saying they got sunburned when their SMP was still in the healing phase and ending up getting permanent redness. Not sure if that was you, but if it wasn't you are you concerned about getting any additional permanent redness from more SMP? And do you plan on going to the same place for SMP or somewhere better? I agree with this, from supporting longer styles as a permanent concealer to giving buzz or shaved length styles a 3D effect that looks more natural.
  16. If you're going to lose any hair it starts when your hormones kick into gear during puberty. The more aggressive the hair loss the sooner you'll first notice the accumulating loss. For some very unfortunate guys its in their teens/early 20s, others with less aggressive loss won't notice until later in their 30s 40s etc. That being said, regardless of how aggressive your loss is, wait until you are through puberty and into your 20s before you go to your doctor to get on finasteride. Puberty is too important of a foundational period for your adult body formation to be messing with your hormones when they are in overdrive. I first noticed my loss after growing my hair back out after keeping it buzzed during military service and realizing I couldn't style it quite like I used to. Knowing how bad the hair loss was on my mothers side of the family I didn't waste time getting on the meds and re-fortifying my front with hair transplants. It will cost you more in the long run, aggressively addressing your loss with smaller transplants, but depending on how much hair loss bothers you, and how others around you are prone to tease you, that higher financial cost can be worth the lower mental stress. Especially for younger guys that still have some growing up and perspective to gain. Ultimately you should start and maintain a photo record as soon as possible, same lighting, same angles. Its more objective and accurate than family and friends who see you every day, making them less able to notice changes like this well. And even when they do notice, some may still not tell you the truth because they care about you and don't want you to worry about something that naturally happens to most of us anyway. Derek from MPMD posted this intro video to some of his later hair videos last year, has some good information and perspective.
  17. That's an interesting point, those finer hairs and less natural density don't create as much of the 'shadowing' effect under the skin in that area.
  18. Big improvement from nw7, he's got a good head and face shape too esp with the beard framing it. This is a great example of a guy that would otherwise come on here devastated asking about getting on hair loss meds and whether his donor looks good enough to fill in everything on top. At the end of the day we can never answer them with certainty esp when the loss is this aggressive and early. Just try to convey that its a long expensive dice throw, and to stack the odds in their favor as much as possible by choosing one the best doctors they learn about here. I'm curious about this temple point area here. Its a very difficult area to address with hair transplants because you have to get the hair angling right, and the hairs are usually finer towards the front too, so sometimes they need to be pulled from the nape of the neck or other body areas if the scalp doesn't have any the doctor can find and pull with FUE. Do you find it more difficult than the top to do with SMP too? And if a customer doesn't mention it or say that they are bothered by it, do you bring it up?
  19. Takes about 10 days for the grafts to securely anchor to their new blood supplies. At 8 weeks you're long past that. If the stress is pretty deep and prolonged it might kick some of your hair follicles into the resting phase of the growth cycle and cause some shedding. Worst case scenario it could delay your transplanted hair coming in by a few months but you wouldn't permanently lose them.
  20. There really isn't an objective set of reasons that will make this or that time of year better. Personally this would be the best time for me, after summer and before winter. -If you'll be traveling far to where you'll be getting it done, the summer months will be the busiest with more people taking vacation time so you may want to avoid those months. -The primary climate concerns are air cold enough to dry out the skin and sunlight strong enough to burn the skin. Where you're at in the world the fall/early winter time would probably be the mildest and most comfortable time. -What works best for your schedule and the clinic you have selected. Ask the clinic when their workload is the lightest, so that they are under less workload stress etc.
  21. Man that is crazy good, like he's never had anything done. Do you know if you use medicated shampoos like Nizoral or Head&Shoulders for occasional flareups of dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis whether that will make the ink fade faster?
  22. Be careful about leaving any kind of shampoo on your head for 15 or 20 minutes. I'd go no more than 5 minutes, especially if your skin is typically sensitive or prone to dryness. You don't want to be unnecessarily irritating your skin when its trying to heal from any cleaning agents or other irritating or drying ingredients in the shampoo. And hair follicles get their nourishment from the connected blood vessels under the skin, they don't need 'room to breathe.' Based on your post you got the procedure done on the 14th, that's 6 days ago. The grafts should be fairly secure, but you should still be careful about any kind of scrubbing. By day 10 the grafts will be secure. Take it easy until then.
  23. Guys get it coming and going, just can't win in these 'enlightened' times. Either you're not in touch enough with your feelings or you have little pecker energy. LOL
