  1. God-dang that looks good. 10 years younger in 4 months. What the frig. Don't feel bad for sharing things that bother you! It's your body and strangers on the internet can't always relate or see something specific that only you notice. I get the sense you're a level-headed person, so I appreciate that if something was 'off' you'd share it with us from a place of honesty. I think it's a good lesson too for others reading that the more you know about your desired hairline going in, the better you can convey that to the doctor during the design process, and the happier you'll be 12 months out. I think yours looks freaking amazing though, haha.
  2. Will admit, I'm a touch surprised to see some of those items are on the patient to bring, given the cost and notoriety of the clinic. I figured they'd provide everything you need. I'll add one - something to tie your hands with at night. I used bungee cords but have also wrangled them up in the sheets of the hotel bed. This is to avoid scratching the recipient area at night, which can happen completely out of your control. I was extra cautious here and also trimmed my nails and wore medical gloves for the first 3 nights- that way even if my hand broke free and went for a sleepy-scratch it would just be the soft latex.
  3. Excellent, in that case it's happy growing ahead You're right about Torgerson, it could have been bad for sure. I got lucky, but I don't recommend that clinic to anybody.
  4. Looks good to me! I was a slow grower on my first HT and was about where you are in terms of growth at 5 months. I saw steady growth from 4-8 months, with more hair maturity all the way to 12 months and beyond. I expect it will be the same for my second. The hairline is coming in especially nice. If I passed you on the street I wouldn't think you had any hair loss, especially if you let it grow out a bit more. The crown is lagging behind a touch but that's to be expected with crowns - I've often heard them referred to as the black hole for grafts because of how much they need to look "dense". Happy growing! If you ever want a confidence boost, keep a couple pre-op pictures in your phone and do a side-by-side with where you are now
  5. Seconded on Dr K. Many of his results are baffling to me. He often uses less grafts than others but positions them in such a way that they cover a lot of space and look very full. I think many of his patients also have a high yield as well. Just make sure you're sitting down when you read his price per graft 😅
  6. Work looks great, as expected. I think the hairline design is going to be quite appreciated once everything grows out- going more conservative allows higher graft availability elsewhere and generally increases density, in my experience. You have a large area to cover so I think that was definitely the right call. I see what you mean about the little spots with no grafts in them. Ultimately I think it'll be a negligible difference - just keep in mind the golden rule about hair transplants (they are an illusion of density) and try to keep expectations in check, especially remembering to stay patient until month 12. If it ends up happening, also remember that going for a touch-up later in life to add density is completely normal (and quite common). When you're slick bald (like we both were before our HTs) consider that they're literally creating an 'area with hair' from scratch. Even with good donor characteristics and high yield it's rare to get it 100% satisfactory on the first pass. Our baldness pre-op is pretty similar. Here's an example below of what I mean (pre-op before first and second surgery).
  7. Amazing. If I were you I'd have the pre-op and most recent in a side-by-side on the phone lock screen great work.
  8. Both clinics would be a fantastic choice, although as a Canadian if I had the money I'd go H&W. I'm a little thrown however because like some members here have mentioned in the picture with the comb your donor looks strong and dense, but in the picture of your hair shorter the donor looks sparse, especially in the mid-high region beneath your crown. Could just be harsh lighting though? I hear what you mean on donor's looking extra sparse when shorter. I'd take even more pictures and send them back to both clinics for an in-depth video consultation, making sure to raise concerns about donor capacity, shock loss etc. The part about getting on fin (if tolerable) really can't be stressed enough. I get the sense you're on the younger side like me- we need to take care of our current hair with every tool we have, and fin is one of the best tools at our disposal. Surgery is best reserved as a final step once all other options are exhausted. Here's 2 side-by-sides to show you what I mean. It's not apples to apples (different light and hair lengths) but it gives an idea. Left is before any treatment, right is 2 years later on fin, minox and dermarolling. No transplants at this point.
  9. Thanks everyone @johnto Dr. Torgerson, an average small clinic in Toronto. I linked the journey in my first post.
  10. 1 month! Not much to say; donor feels fine (zero itch now) and recipient still has numbness. A little shock loss in some places but nothing unexpected at this stage. I can feel the shed coming - I'm ready for it 💪
  11. Dr. P's work always looks so precise. Can't wait for your final result.
  12. Can't wait for your result! I'm jealous of anyone who makes it to Dr. K. Rooting for healthy growth
  13. Hair transplant of the year maybe? Awesome result.
  14. Wow, fantastic result Adil. You were one of the final threads I was following before locking in my own surgery, happy to see how it's turned out. That was a bizarre exchange on the previous page. Giving feedback is one thing, but I found those comments wholly unnecessary and unhelpful, especially coming from a poster with a 3 month old account. Good riddance.
  15. When I booked my HT I made sure to arrange at least 10 days of vacation/sick/weekend after the last day of surgery before returning to work. This way the scabs would be removed and I'd look like I shaved my head, nothing more. It went exactly like that. Not a single person commented that anything looked odd, besides a few "Oh you shaved your head" in which case I answered "Yup" and then the conversation moves on. I have a public-facing job and see my colleagues often, so I was quite pleased with how little an impression my hair change made. I think people on this forum forget that we spend a lot of time looking at post-op pics, but the average person has no idea what a HT looks like. So I guess what I'm saying is don't worry about it. I also agree with the above posters that it's nobody's business but your own and you're under no obligation to share if you're not comfortable. I told some family and close friends, but didn't feel like telling anyone else.
  16. My plan so far is to take a shower on low pressure to get the scabs wet, then use sebamed shampoo (since its ph 5.5) and let it soak for 20-30 minutes and slowly use fingertips to massage out the scabs. This is basically exactly what I did, although I went against the usual advice and after massaging for the scabs a while, I very lightly used my fingernails to assist in removal of the softened scabs. I trimmed them beforehand and did the whole thing in a warm shower, going slow and taking my time. I felt no pain and had zero blemishes afterwards, making sure to always move in the direction of the hair. This was on day 7. If you're worried about pulling out a graft or something like that you can safely put your mind at ease - at day 10 (and quite a bit sooner) they are firmly locked in there. However I agree with the excellent advice from Dr. Rahal's rep above to take your time and don't rush. What I did felt okay for me, but I'm not sure I'd advise it generally and everyone's body heals differently.
  17. Excited for your updates. The hairline is incredibly dense and I bet it's gonna look fantastic.
  18. Incredible result. Did the gentlemen dye his hair as well? Took 15 years off it looks like - fantastic.
  19. Day 7 update - oh my god that shower felt amazing Scabs removed. Amazed at how the beard recovered - it looks untouched. Donor area still a little itchy, considering applying polysporin or if anyone has recommendations. I remember how much I loved this stage on my first HT and the feeling is just as euphoric this time around.
