  1. Always love seeing a Zoomster update. 'Historic' indeed, like Melvin said
  2. Thanks @MazAB! I hadn't considered touching the temples again as my wavy hair tends to cover them, but they probably would look better brought in a little more. I'll be curious what the surgeon thinks when I select a clinic for transplant number 3. I'm happy going back to Eugenix but am entertaining all options. I know I want to stick another ~2000 in the crown then sprinkle ~1000 in various places around and behind the hairline. I also need to get the ~170 beard grafts removed and replaced with hair follicles as they didn't grow. I love the hairline height so likely wouldn't have it lowered, just reinforced. I think that will prove wise especially as I age. One concern is I'll have to clearly convey to whomever does my next HT not to use any donor above my ears. It's especially thin there in a few spots.
  3. Month 13 - final update. Rolled out of bed today and snapped a few pics. This is the final result and I'm positively chuffed. Looking forward to getting a third and final transplant to finish off the crown and add density in places, but I think about my hair 90% less than I used to. Feels good. Cheers.
  4. Happy to hear my friend - If I passed you on the street I wouldn't think you had any work done. It's always great to throw up a couple side-by-side comparisons so you can really appreciate how far you've come. Maybe @Melvin- Moderator will pop in and give one of his famous comparisons
  5. Looks good my guy - our hair loss pattern and texture is similar although I'm slightly blonder. Looks like you did your due diligence and I think Eugenix will be a solid choice especially considering your beard availability. The donor on the back looks strong too. Excellent work as well getting on the meds. You're about as prepared as you can be for a HT. One idea I may prep you with is that you may opt for a second HT down the road. Eugenix specializes in wide coverage but for guys like you and me that are looking to fill the frontal third and back to the crown it's pretty rare to get it knocked out in one pass. After 2 HTs I'm finally in a place where I don't think about my hair anymore, but I still may get a third HT to sprinkle in density in certain places.
  6. Wow, great results for 5 months. I think it looks awesome!
  7. 2 hair transplants, first at 26 and second at 29. I experienced rapid hair loss from a very young age (as early as high school), eventually slowed with Finasteride. I wouldn't use the word 'fix' as my confidence wasn't broken to begin with. However I've experienced a measurable uptick in appreciation from women, colleagues, and people in general. I was fairly confident and proud before the surgeries but they've definitely given me more confidence and security in how I present, which has made me happier. Alongside the hair transplants I've also made efforts to be fitter and eat better, which I think has the greatest effect on overall health and happiness. I'm also not afraid of mirrors anymore, which is nice. 😂
  8. A couple more fun comparisons inspired by @Melvin- Moderator first transplant then the second a couple years later. I forgot how thin it was just behind the hairline.
  9. Thanks all, I appreciate your comments! So very much is owed to HRN for all the information I've picked up here. On a humorous note, my old barber lost his mind when I finally saw him again and he looked at all the hair. He was completely stunned to find out it was mostly transplanted and wanted to know everything 😂 I've become a bit of an ambassador for my close male friends that experience hair loss.
  10. Hi everyone, thought I'd cap off this journey with a 10.5 months update. My hair is the longest it's been in years and I'm loving it. The frizz is completely out of control but as someone who was nearly slick bald in the front it's a beautiful problem to have. I thought I'd attach some pictures from 4 years ago so people can see where I started. Taking @Berba11 and other poster's advice I've also begun experimenting with hair product. I think it looks way better (pic 7) - I've never been able to use product so that's fun for me. For consistency with prior updates, the first six photos are the usual dry hair with no product (and lots of frizz). Overall I'd rate my second transplant as very successful. While I'll almost definitely get a final transplant to fill in some density spots and finish off the crown, my quality of life has improved greatly, almost comically in some ways; I feel more confident, women are noticeably more interested and my friends that knew me from before the transplants all look at me like some magical transformation has happened but they don't know what it was. I find this very funny. The beard grafts continue to not grow but it's irrelevant to me. I'll have them removed and replaced during my third surgery, likely in 2024. I haven't decided what clinic that will be at yet. Big thanks to HRN, Eugenix, and all the forum members who supported me on this journey.
  11. While recognizing any hair loss at all can weigh on us, as an outsider your hair looks absolutely incredible and under no circumstance would I advise you to pursue surgery at this moment.
  12. Wow that work looks very clean and densely packed! Can't wait to see how this result turns out, please keep us posted.
  13. I have nothing to add to the above conversations but @Captain Haddock I appreciate you sharing your patient experience with the forum. Good luck with any future repair work you pursue and keep us posted when you can.
  14. Eugenix has hundreds if not thousands of successful patients between this forum and others like it, and those are just the cases online. There is no such thing as a 100% success rate, and so there will always be negative cases. Bear in mind also the less positive patient outcomes are often the ones we hear from the loudest. I strongly agree with what @BaldingEagle1 said. If your determination to get a hair transplant is cast in doubt by 3 off cases then I don't think you should get a hair transplant at all, let alone at Eugenix. Your risk tolerance might not be appropriate.
  15. I'm pleased he offered you a 1000 graft booster. I echo the above posters with a touch of surprise that he originally deemed 2000 grafts enough - Dr. K is the best in the business however and this definitely seems like an outlier situation. That said, it's a testament to his willingness to give the best patient outcome that he's offered to re-fill the area. If I was his patient that would make me feel very supported.
  16. Polysporin on my donor really helped a lot with healing and itchiness. But follow your surgeon's post-op care routine.
  17. This is definitely a question for a medical professional, especially if your side effects were severe. Finasteride is generally always recommended because without it you're essentially swimming against a strong current - a HT may regain some hair temporarily, but if your hair loss is strong you can potentially end up in a complicated situation where the native hair is quickly receding leaving exposed transplanted hairs. The going advice of this forum and others like it is to stabilize your hair loss as much as possible on medication and non-surgical means, before turning to surgery. One thing with Fin I see often (I'm not suggesting this is the case for you) is people read and hear about the side effects and develop this sense of placebo. They've built it up in their mind their genitals will fall off or something, and when they start taking the drug they think they're developing symptoms despite evidence Finasteride has an extremely low chance of sexual side effects. Again though, these are questions for a doctor. Depending on the aggressiveness of your hair loss however, I would potentially advise against a HT without being on any kind of medication.
  18. Appreciate it @Berba11 and thank you everyone else for the comments, it means a lot. I've let Eugenix know about the beard grafts not growing and sent them some closeups for evaluation. If anyone is morbidly curious here are some closeups of the beard grafts in my crown/mid scalp (camera phones sure have come a long way). I circled one because they're hard to see, but I can feel them when I run my hands along my scalp. Side note, it's very interesting seeing the colour contrast between native and transplanted hair.
  19. @hairlossPA I'm impressed by the crown. It was my lowest priority and it grew, which is great. I think another 500-1000 in there and I'll have enough coverage to not care anymore. Regarding the frizz, I've never used styling products and have no idea where to begin with hair like mine. I'll take any recommendations if you have them. @Gatsby Thanks for the comment. I've used Minox in the past and had a bad dry skin reaction, so I won't be going back on the topical. I have considered adding the pill form to my regimen but don't know if it would make a difference for the shock loss. I've heard it can cause heart palpitations and other issues so I've been a bit more tentative to try. I'll keep waiting for 12 months like I've always said, but it's pretty clear at this point that we're closing in on the finish line. I'm not dissatisfied though, in fact overall I'm pretty pleased. Just charting out the course to get my final intended result.
  20. 8.5 month update Hi everyone, sorry for the delay here. This update will be shorter than the last as I've settled into what likely is close to the final result at this point. My observations: 1. Density improvements have become much smaller and harder to notice. Hair looks and feels thicker. 2. The shock loss looks like it may have recovered slightly, but that's a generous word and it's likely more in part to my hair being longer and covering it. 3. Crown and midscalp have improved but will definitely need a third pass to fill in lots of little gaps covered by the fringe. But I'd like to have styling options besides a comb over. 4. Perhaps most interesting, it appears none of the beard grafts grew. I've been refraining from mentioning this in case something changed and they suddenly started growing, but I'm almost at 9 months now and all the beard grafts are still in their infantile state. By that I mean they are just little course hairs pricking up from my scalp with literally zero length, like stubble on my head. I can feel them throughout my mid scalp and crown regions. So that's the update. Will probably look into a third and final HT either with Eugenix or another clinic in 2023, or 2024 if I decide to wait another year. I'm hoping the beard grafts can be identified and extracted then replaced with hair follicles. I've emailed Eugenix and will see what they say about that. Will aim to give a final update at 12 months.
  21. Also just to add, I think you look great with your current hair, especially in the profile. Some men experience recession gracefully and it adds stature and poise. You're one of those guys.
