  1. Yup, I think that’s what happened. So, just comes with the territory of HT’s I guess. I did email him directly. I was hoping he might throw me a bone being a customer and I had just referred some others to him, but that was his quoted cost for another surgery which I get. His demand is off the chart and it’s not like anything went wrong from the first surgery. It’s just me wanting to eliminate any evidence of hair loss. So if I want to do that and get really super dense, I’ll need another. Other than Konior and Nadimi, is there anyone else anyone else in the US that does all the extraction and placement like they do and is cheaper? (Again, I have zero complaints about Konior - he’s the GOAT. Just looking to see if I can get a filler procedure with a great doctor at a cheaper price point.)
  2. Wow. Never heard of that before, but it completely makes sense and sounds like that’s probably what’s going on (along w a combo too of the hairs relaxing and straightening out). From the 8-12 month mark, I was definitely denser than now. Thanks for sharing!
  3. I reached out a while back. He said I got about 50% density as my original hair (which is all that can be accomplished at one time) with about 2000 grafts. Doing a filler would essentially be a repeat then of the first surgery. Of course, his prices have went up since mine, so I’d be paying even more than my first surgery, which is just too tough of a pill to swallow given that I went to the most expensive doctor in the first place. And certainly not to suggest anything was wrong or didn’t work out right from the first surgery, it just is what it is. No question that it definitely depends on the angle and of course light coming through. For instance, the first picture is from right now in a room in my house w no lights above me - and which is why it probably doesn’t make sense to pay another 30k. But here are some others showing what I’m talking about. I’m just looking to get back to that super dense look I thought was there around the 8 month to 12 month mark, but would still want a doc that doesn’t rely on techs to do a lot of the work.
  4. Coming up on 2 years. I was doing the Happy Head dropper but switched back to finasteride pill.
  5. I don’t think so. I don’t actually notice any hair falling out or patches. I think it’s just when the hair first came it was pretty wavy so each individual hair covered more area. That’s my guess anyway.
  6. I had transplant previously with Konior. I was over the moon with the results originally, but as some more time has passed, my hair is appearing “thinner”. I’m guessing it’s a function of my hair relaxing and straightening out and allowing the scalp to be more visible. Dr. K was upfront on my surgery day that, due to blood supply, we can only get about 50% density as my natural hair. So now I’m thinking it might be time to add in the other 50% But I don’t like the idea of techs doing most the work. What other docs do the actual implants like Konior (as opposed to techs). I’d love to go back to Konior again, but it’s just a little too cost prohibitive.
  7. 1 year final progress pics… I’ll say this past year has flown by. Just got a hair cut today. Hair isn’t styled quite as good as I like it to be, but thought I’d go ahead and post these pics. All in all, I’m very happy with the final outcome. I actually feel like it looked better around month 8 or 9. My only issue I wish was a little better is that I can see through the hair and see my scalp under direct light, although that’s not apparent in these pics. I feel like I couldn’t do that 3-4 months ago. Not sure if the hair actually thinned or I lost any. Or more likely, my hair first came in pretty wavy and had since straightened out. One thing I think really made a big difference was him building out the temples on the side. Frankly, if a doc wasn’t going to do this, I’d find a new one as I think it really makes a ton of difference aesthetically.
  8. We talked about it beforehand and he did work to intersperse some grays in there and throughout the whole implant area. I just don’t think they show up well on camera.
  9. Next month is the 1 year mark, but here’s how things are currently.
  10. Not really. I think the magic is just in picking the surgeon. Most immediate thing is just careful after surgery and don’t dislodge any grafts. After that, it’s all foolproof from there. I did use spray on aquaphor once I got back home. I never really did develop any crusting or scabbing. Whether that made a difference, who knows. I also started using Happy Head finasteride/minoxidil mix once I was able just to help preserve the natural hair. But I highly doubt that would have contributed to the result. Other than that, the only thing I’d say is be very concrete in knowing what you want and very vocal with the doctor so that at least she knows what you’re after. Konior spent a ton of time drawing and revising out the hairline and asking my thoughts. I imagine she’ll do the same. And definitely tell them more Valium if you feel anything during the surgery. It makes 14 hours go by like a dream.
  11. This is shaved down with a 1 and 2 guard. Donor area was pretty much zero evidence within week or two after surgery.
  12. I’m not really sure. Just looking back at my post surgery pics, looks like he took them pretty evenly from all across the back of the head, but I don’t remember anything particular about punches down in the nape area or right behind ears as I’m imagining those areas might be more tender afterwards.
  13. 8 month update… Just got back from haircut. My barber continues to be very impressed by the results. She has been suggesting I grow it out longer, but I think I’ve decided on keeping it a little shorter. One of the pics looks like I’ve lost all my hair on the side, but that’s just all gray hair washed out by the lights and not showing up in pic. I’m sure there’s still some maturing to do, but at this point I’m think this is pretty close to my final result. Wish I would have done it years ago. I’m supper happy with how the temples filled in. I think that was very key to the overall result. Can’t go wrong with Konior.
  14. Actually not a lot. Those that know were of course surprised by how natural it looks. A lot of people still envision the hair plugs of old. A few friends who don’t know have commented before that I look a little different. It would be interesting to know how many have figured it out, but just haven’t said anything.
