  1. I personally don't. Low dose (2.5mg to 5mg) oral minoxidil has been used successfully to treat androgenic alopecia with a low side effect profile: https://www.jaad.org/article/S0190-9622(19)30685-1/pdf
  2. I just start at 0.5mg and don't go higher. It's a lot more potent than finasteride with a similar side effect profile. I haven't seen studies using a dose higher than 0.5mg and am leery to go higher than that. Also, given the fact it's more potent the chances of side effects are higher.
  3. Yes, minoxidil is a vasodilator, not a DHT blocker.
  4. It's not going to regrow hair...it's used to try to maintain existing hair. Remember, 5-alpha reductase inhibitors like finasteride and vasodilators like minoxidil are used mainly to keep hair from falling out, not growing it.
  5. I think switching meds will be fine. Obviously talk to your doctor about switching over. You should also be using minoxidil.
  6. Usually you need to take finasteride 1mg daily for 1 year to assess fully if it's working or not. Having said that, I think starting dutasteride should be fine. It's a LOT more potent than finasteride so I usually start my patients off on 0.5mg daily. I would also use topical minoxidil. Good luck
  7. As mentioned by @LaserCap, smoking induces vasoconstriction (reduced blood flow) and impairs wound healing. Why spend all that money and get subpar results?
  8. The risk of side effects from finasteride is about 5%. I'd suggest starting off low and then seeing how your body reacts and working from there. You can also use topical finasteride. There are topical finasteride/minoxidil combo solutions as well and you won't get the systemic side effects from oral finasteride. Read below for more info: https://www.health.harvard.edu/mens-health/should-i-worry-about-finasteride-side-effect-reports
  9. Great list Melvin. I would add avoid feverishly looking for growth day to day and focus on 6, 9, and 12 months. The implanted follicles can sometimes take up to 2 years to fully mature (grow and thicken).
  10. Great questions. No, unfortunately, finasteride doesn't regrow hair, as others have said. Finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that blocks the conversion of testosterone to the more potent androgen DHT. Hence, those hair follicles with DHT receptors will be less likely to regress as there's less circulating DHT. I think the most likely scenario is surgically implanting cloned hair. I would say the technology for this is about 20 years away.
  11. Looking good and thanks for this writeup! Please keep the community updated and best of luck.
  12. I'd go with Bloxham...consistent results and practically no scar with FUT. His bedside demeanor is great too
  13. I suggest FUT as allowed by scalp laxity and then FUE. You should consider BHT if your donor area isn't good
  14. Don't despair. I echo what someone else said about minimizing your finasteride dosage and if you're still getting side effects, use a topical solution of finasteride. Save up your money as well for a hair transplant. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions mate.
  15. No, unfortunately, there isn't a hair loss cure on the horizon. I think there may be a cure in 20 years and the best bet is replication of one's own hair follicles that don't have DHT receptors and transplanting them into thinning areas.
  16. Where is Morr F 10% listed on Target and Overstock? I don't see it in their inventory
  17. Thanks. Yes, I know how to use Google. But I want to know if the websites to order it from are legit and ship to the US
  18. Where can you buy the 10% solution? I can’t find it anywhere with delivery to the US
  19. Anyone use Morr F 10% or 5%? It's a topical finasteride/minoxidil combo. I can easily procure the 5% and am thinking of getting the 10%. I wanted to see if the community had any experience with either the 5% or 10% Where can one procure the 10%? Thank you in advance!
  20. Looks completely natural. Amazing results. Dr. Feller is amazing at his craft
  21. The chances of side effects are much less with topical finasteride than oral finasteride because the topical route of delivery isn't systemic (though the overall rate of side effects with oral is still low). The efficacy between the topical and oral is similar. For more info, you can read this study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6609098/ I'm unsure as to why the topical isn't as well known as the oral. I think more and more people are learning about it though.
