  1. Hello @miko

I do believe people need to read the Title of your thread and have a hint of what it´s all about... now, the Title it´s not what the "book" is about.

Could you do us a favor and ask @Melvin- Moderator to rename this it? I mean, now it´s a completely different one from the original "My HT at Asmed and Dr. Koray Erdogan, January 2017". Too many things have happened since 2017 when you started your HT adventures...

Maybe the new title could be something like... "Unsatisfactory 4500 grafts HT result at ASMED and brilliantly repaired by Dr. Couto" ... or whatever you might think will show which clinics/doctors are involved in this thread. And maybe even add 2022-2023 dates so that it shows it´s an ongoing result. 2017 sounds old.

This title change would make this thread a lot more appealing and interesting getting a lot more views.

Thank you so much @OliverAtom for the very kind words. Yes a hair transplant appears very different outdoors under the sun compared to indoors where the lighting is darker. So far I haven’t been thinking that much about this hair transplant. I’m just keeping busy with work and we’ll all see how it unfolds over the coming months. Thanks again. 🙏

Will be eagerly waiting for the updates! 🤗

Yeah, your ex wife is gonna be pissed at the new piece of ass you're gonna pull with this hairline.

Congrats. You deserve it after all you've been through.

Ha ha ha... oh my God @BaldingEye ... @consequence has a point here ha ha 😜

No wonder! What an insane transformation. I do not think that your wife would even recognize you anymore 🦸🏻‍♂️

I agree with Melvin here. It's a little frustrating, to be honest, to see how aggressive and critical the forum can be sometimes.

You established a new "line in the sand". Your density wasn't perfect, but looking at the pre-op I don't think it was a yield issue. From my armchair perspective Couto implanted you less dense to start with:

    image.png.23a75b9c6eae03fc0f1156c1b1983746.pngimage.png.ade251380332d0aff40582c5bc2c88c4.png

That doesn't look like 35% to me, closer to 80% - but really who the f can tell from 2 dimensional jpgs on a forum.

My hunch is he thought you had a fibrotic scalp with limited blood supply and wanted to ensure graft survival. I'd be curious what your hairline looked like without high magnification and with a non spiked hairstyle.

Also, not to nitpick, but you started oral minoxidil a month after the procedure, when most of the immediate healing and engraftment was completed.

If folks could spend some time on the Spanish forums they'd realize that not every case Couto publishes looks like a home run (he's at about 90%). What really stands out, though, is his sense of accountability and ownership of his results. And to that end, I've never once seen a bad outcome of a revision with him.

I suspect you're going to come out of this looking like a rock star. Please keep us updated.

Totally agree with you. I also think that Dr Couto played safe thinking @stockholmare had a fibrotic scalp with limited blood supply and wanted to ensure graft survival. Dr Couto will also try to benefit his patients. We also see this when he is always using a lot fewer grafts than other clinics and still gets better results.

Some people just get in here and comment, I think being jealous or sent by another clinic. It is a total pity.

And I think the same, this will become a beautiful result ☺️

So this is one month post op. I have taken these pictures in 35 degree sun. It’s a bit washed out as a result, but at least it gives you an idea of what the results are at the beginning of the ugly duck phase, round two.

Wow @Gatsby truly remarkable! Thanks for this type of photos so that we can see a situation in the sun light which is obviously really different from indoors.

Can not wait to see you in 7-8 months. Keep those updates coming 😜

What’s happening people. Sorry I haven’t updated, It’s crazy how you forget you had a transplant in the first place considering at one point my hair was such a worry. Moral of the story if you are getting stressed over your hair just go for it. Think that’s me at 10 odd months now.

I can now style my hair in unlimited ways and lengths and I haven’t stressed about my hair since I walked out the surgery to be honest. All I wanted was a natural result and I think I got it.

Here’s a dump of photos as I’m not sure wether il post again, but I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, go visit Dr Bisanga 👍🏻BD491394-7CFC-4EA3-97F4-2631AFC85490.thumb.jpeg.2c4ae6ebc5a88efe04836fcc5b19c021.jpeg5961BD62-6C11-4F1A-9D9F-133098B1C12E.thumb.jpeg.41727d1161d39000358357edb459af84.jpeg92102D45-E9F7-4F9D-A110-32F5B6EDEB95.thumb.jpeg.4df06e35c19a593a8e636b5779de0027.jpeg089C26A7-5EED-48C1-97C3-7B23073975F1.thumb.jpeg.7d4cdc42b54e85066212b8673c2b1f9a.jpegF9FD60F9-345D-4371-93C7-FE1776096051.thumb.jpeg.75cd1607b17e94c3798daae987417eeb.jpeg1A0F246B-F2C7-4F9C-94D6-824A3372963A.thumb.jpeg.e6aaa5ad22a39fc362ee11c4709d5325.jpeg

    Hello @miko

Congratulations on your repair with Dr Couto. He has done magic with your repair, wow. And just with 1500 grafts.

I still do not understand how ASMED Clinic got that poor result with so many grafts. 4500 grafts is A LOT!!!

Your new hairline is lovely. Luckily you found the Magician. I do not believe there is a doctor like Couto at this moment.

Coming from this POOR result by ASMED, Koray´s clinic.

From the Pre op pic, it is obvious that there are visible gaps in your transplanted area. So your first surgery with Dr Couto was bad due to the low growth of your transplanted grafts. When a first surgery is not succesful with a surgeon, i would not feel very confident to select the same surgeon for the second time, but you did... Anyway i wish you good luck and happy growing.

I have to disagree with you, and this is my humble opinion. I rather think that when a HT has poor growth in the hands of a world-class doctor like Couto, no one better than the doctor himself to face the challenge of finding a solution to the lack of success on the previous procedure. And why I say this? Because he could already know what the patient´s difficulties may be.

Moreover, an unsuccessful HT, especially when this happens on procedures performed by renowned doctors, does not depend on the work done by the doctor and his team. However, most of the time, there are personal conditions that, in certain circumstances, do not favor good growth. And this is why HTs are not procedures that can be guaranteed. Knowing Couto´s experience on hair transplants, without any doubt, you will always have a better chance of securing a successful outcome with a doctor like him.

We should also mention Dr Couto´s attitude, offering a touch-up at no additional cost, which should be an example for many other doctors around here.

In a couple of months I will get to my 1 year Hair Transplant adventure! I recommend everyone suffering alopecia to go for it, totally worth it!

@BaldingEye your result is just INSANE! What a fantastic result you are getting! I still can not believe Dr Couto can manage such amazing results with the few grafts that he uses in comparison with other docs, 3500 for your case seemed that could be not enough and then, boom... hands down, one of the best results ever on the Forum.

I wanted to follow up on this post. As everyone knows I wasn't as happy with the last session somehow. @mustangreminded me that what had probably actually happened was the previous SMP had faded. There's a good chance he was right and when I went back for another session of SMP (so damn painful) it once again improved the donor appearance, particularly when the hair is shorter (0-1 grade).

I have actually decided to book another day with Mwamba for 500 grafts in July, @mustangagain, valuable in making my decision. This time I might extract from the beard, coarser hair to sit on the top sections that hair never seemed to 'settle on'. I am wondering if in some places, hair just doesn't settle well (or pigment as in SMP, for that matter) on scar tissue. I know everyone is different and for some it grows out perfectly. Obviously there's less blood supply to a scar so the hair may just fall out.

I really hope my next session is more successful but it's definitely good to combine. Get the HTP reparation first and then SMP. I think it really needs 2-3 SMP sessions to get results. Attaching photos PRE SMP and why I decided to go for a third repairation with Mwamba.

Amazing improvement. What a great option is combining BHT and SMP!
And Mwamba is maybe among the best doing BHT with his unique technique. Thank you for sharing such valuable info.

Definitely a poor outcome, simply telling him to grow his hair longer is not a solution as there will be visible gaps behind the hairline. Some photos look much better than others though.

I guess all you can do now is wait and then either try to get Dr Mwamba to touch it up (should be for no cost in my opinion) or go elsewhere.

Completely agree. Some photos look much better than others. However, I believe you @Dhcyoo you will need a touch-up. You have great donor and you will end up having a nice result.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience.

    SEVEN MONTH UPDATE

Today is actually month seven on my hair restoration journey. Photos taken in outdoor lighting (indoors this looks a whole lot fuller). 🤩 I have to say that I am very happy with the results on my Norwood 7 noggin so far, along with the depleted/scarred donor that I had. Hair is coming in through the crown and with fibres I can now pull off a full head of hair look. At month 12 I will wait to assess everything but I am looking at having a second session some time in the future to address the crown and any weak areas.

What a change! And you still have another 5 months for final assessment. This is really happening!
Also, that donor looks outstanding 🤗

Thanks for sharing your experience @Gatsby !!! Keep those updates coming please!

Been traveling the last 2 months between work and family, hence the delayed post.

It's been 8.5 months, so here is the progress on my HT. The growth has been really good and the density has improved drastically in the last 2 months.

I suppose this is at about 70-80% mark. What do you think?
