  1. We had to improve the hairline by selectively placing fine single-hair grafts followed by more robust doubles and triples. In this case, the design and overall density were certainly proper. At least it is a decent outcome for FUE. A significant number of grafts were taken from an unshaved donor region as the patient desired undetectability immediately after the FUE procedure.
  2. You may require an in-person consultation that involves measuring hair diameter, the number of follicular units, and the number of hairs per follicular unit. This approach helps monitor your donor strength over time as hair loss progresses.
  3. FIT refers to the isolation of hair follicles. Follicular isolation technique is what began in the hands of a Dr. Patrick Mwamba and a couple other surgeons who perfected the FUE concept and process in its infancy.
  4. I concur that any surgery will result in more or less noticeable scarring. In FUT, I have also seen less uniformed linear scarring occur as a result of extraordinary tension on sutures as well.
  5. Far too many patients come to us after being told that they will have a pencil-thin strip scar if they were told of any chances of linear scarring at all. Many times the scar will stretch over time and the patient can never wear their hair short on the back and sides. Sometimes the orientation of the hair in the donor zone can be skewed because the hair above and below the scar can be misangled. This isn’t fair to the patient because they should be given full disclosure of all possible after effects of strip surgery. Even if all a clinic does is tell them that the average strip scar is between 3 to 4 mm wide and 13 cm long, a patient could at least understand that the scar will require them to wear their hair longer in order to conceal it. A patient would realize how the attention and concern might probably shift from the transplanted recipient area to the donor scar.
  6. There are many ways to examine the donor area in terms of hair quality. The curvature, color, and thickness, in many ways, become the most important characteristics to judge donor quality. Under high magnification, the donor area and safe zone will be determined by measured units, and many calculations of density will be more visible for judging donor dominance and strength. From region to region within the donor area, there will be slight differences in density and hair quality. From the process of analysis, we can accurately estimate and describe the strength of one's donor area supply.
  7. Far too many patients come to us after being told that they will have a pencil-thin strip scar if they were told of any chances of linear scarring at all. Many times the scar will stretch over time and the patient can never wear their hair shaved short on the back and sides. Sometimes the orientation of the hair in the donor zone can be skewed because the hair above and below the scar can be misangled. This isn’t fair to the patient because they should be given full disclosure of all possible after effects of strip surgery. Based on patients' specific goals, some patients come to our clinic to revise their strip scars and some come to us for treating complications with their strip scars. Even with performing trichophytic closure, we still effectively prefer FUE (non-strip) method over FUT (strip). To treat strip scars, we usually can achieve significant improvement with two small sessions of grafting by FIT. The approach to add lower density over more than one session has allowed us to conclude that the transplanted grafts have a much higher survival rate and better blood supply. Strip scars can usually be treated after six months. Below is a view of a strip scar in the donor region that displays hair growing in opposite directions.
  8. The crown could show hair loss that may or may not be permanent. Be very cautious when you aggressively add hair and don't have significant loss. The crown is very complex due to hair growth at all angles.
  9. Dense-packing is not always the best way to reconstruct the hairline. The location of the hairline must be most appropriate. In your case, you can search for hairline results accomplished at specific densities. A low or high density should yield natural-looking results.
  10. Any update on your situation? You have several options to consider.
  11. Akashgpt862, That is very good news. You may want to go ahead and reconstruct those temples.
  12. The hair in the recipient takes many months to show any obvious changes in caliber.
  13. Hi. Did the location of the hairline change? Thanks for sharing.
  14. Thanks for sharing, Roscopeeco78. Do you want to treat the scar and restore the front and back? What are your goals for hairstyling?
  15. Hi, Sadbrows. The changes in the skin can improve over several months. The clinic should provide some explanation as to what could be the cause for such unsightly skin appearance. To improve your appearance in the short term, try applying some concealer or makeup. Aesthetically pleasing results with eyebrow hair transplants can be difficult to accomplish if the harvested grafts are bulky. Depending on your clinic's surgical technique, instrumentation, and experience, you may want to get some insight on possible solutions from different reputable clinics. In the long term, you may need to have the grafts removed, but only time will tell if corrective surgery is required. Lastly, there is always scarring with surgery, but scarring from hair transplant surgery can be very unnoticeable.
  16. Despite the general post-op instructions, you should contact your clinic. If the incident wasn't isolated, you shouldn't brush or comb your hair and noticeably bleed. However, at five weeks post-op, the grafts shouldn't be destroyed as a result of the act of brushing or combing your hair.
  17. Thanks, Ruttrowg. How many FUT grafts? Also, would you happen to know the distribution of hairs per individual FUT graft?
  18. In approaching surgical hair restoration, the process of successfully restoring hair will depend on a few factors. Artistry, low transection, and density applied in each procedure are important. The illusion of coverage is achievable when every effort to improve yield is accomplished. The biggest effect is understanding how hair loss progresses over time.
  19. The crown looks as if there is no significant difference during the past years. The differences in hair length may exaggerate the appearance of weakness in the crown.
  20. Base pricing on results to similar cases to yours. The surgeon's ability to create the illusion of coverage is the product.
  21. The consistency in producing aesthetically pleasing results is crucial, but continuity and experience of the surgical staff as a whole are by far the most important items to verify on a pre-op and consultation checklist.
  22. The limitations of body hair are the potential disadvantages as it can be very unpredictable. Growth cycles, curvature, and caliber are some variables that differ with body hair transplantation. Consider slowly approaching this as a solution to future hair loss, however, a test of beard hair could be beneficial.
