  1. Those pictures are probably good enough though a spotlight may help expose where it is thinest. I reckon you need 3000-4000 grafts to rebuild the front of your hair. Although you are still in your 20s if you can back it up with finasteride and minoxidil I think most doctors would do a procedure for you.
  2. You're welcome. Take your time would be my number 4. I've been on here for 2 years getting my head around everything and my ideas at the start have definately changed from what the were at the start. Knowing all the pros and cons inside out will hopefully lead to no regrets!
  3. The average strip patient might get 2 strips of 2500 grafts and maybe a 3rd at 1500. The problem comes in getting an acceptable density. 40 grafts/cm sq on average means 6500 could only cover about 160 sq cm. With greater density placed in the hairline you're probably looking at a size which is the area of a beer mat (100 sq cm). Suppose you take 2000 grafts now and dense pack the hairline then that's one third of your graft allocation gone. I'm not sure about FUE but I think 6000 is about the limit before the donor starts to look thin.
  4. Answers based on personal experience & what I have read over the years: How long after quitting finasteride should I expect hormone levels to return to normal? I am not a doctor but most people say one month. When I gave up it took 4 weeks to feel 100%. How long after quitting finasteride should I expect the (potential) psychological symptoms to subside? Same answer as above I would think, assuming there is no secondary issues (e.g other factors like work related stress). How long after quitting finasteride should I expect hair loss? After prolonged use I think most people would say '4 to 6 months'. Assuming that I do notice a disappearance in symptoms, and decide to get back on finasteride at a lower dosage: What is the lowest dosage that has been proven successful for long-term hairloss? I saw an amazing result posted by Dr Bill Parsley. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/168490-dr-parsley-results-1-4-tab-propecia-0-25mg-daily.html
  5. For me your hair is still too good to get a HT, especially since you are only 27 and more loss is on the cards. If I were you I'd add Rogaine to the regime and wait until you are 30+. Mid thirties is a much better time to get something done rather than trying to get the 'perfect hairline' in your 20s. Those 2000-3000 grafts saved now could be much better used in several years time. Just beware than once you work on the hairline you're pretty much stuck with it for life, and what's behind it could rapidly disappear!
  6. I looked at the before photo and thought there's no way 5000 grafts is going to do anything for the crown. How wrong I was.. A really nice distribution of grafts
  7. That Dr seems to be using Neograft. Go see Dr James DeYarman in La Jolla, San Diego I really like the results I've been seeing from his practice.
  8. It's a tough one. If you have amazing laxity you could get a lot more bang for your buck doing FUT. Hence it would be good to see a Dr in person. Totally understand the concerns about the scar. In my own case I know there is no chance I would ever buzz down. It just doesnt suit me at all!
  9. Eman sums it up well. Agree you have a good shaped head and are not pastey looking - good candidate for the buzz cut. An FUT based around your current hairline and not filling in the temples too much could look great. I think you should go see a few Drs. 3 years on Fin is a great start.
  10. Flakiness - I just meant dandruff caused by an alergic reaction or something. Rosacea is particularly prevalent in people of irish/scottish heritage, which has lead to it being called 'The curse of the celts'. Best to go see your GP.
  11. Years ago I started getting Rosacea and was prescribed Rozex metronidazol gel which works wonders. It eliminated most of the redness and flakiness and I've been using it for 6 years now. Any relatives have redness in the cheeks and nose? It could be Rosacea. If it is the hairloss meds I wonder why it isnt flakiness of the scalp.
  12. Alldaychemist should get to you within 2 weeks
  13. I looked into it a while ago but came to the conclusion it has similar ingredients to Wellman Tricologic,...and expensive! I get my WT off ebay - 60 tablets for about ?20. I just take one a day although it recommends you take two or three per day. Hard to tell if it has been of any benefit.
  14. You should try waking up each morning without a wife/partner and hairloss. That's even sadder!! But enough about me... I don't think you've lost enough hair yet to consider having a HT, especially without finasteride to back it up. My view would be to put it to one side and get on with your life for now. HTs can be done without the meds, but in my book only the ones with a lot of lost hair and great donor should only really consider it. There are some good concealers like Nanogen (available in larger Boots stores) which can cover up your loss in the crown. A shorter haircut may also help.

  16. Check out Dr DeYarman's website. He mentions them in his videos.
  17. Not dizziness but I got a headache/brain fog for a while after starting. I gave it up and am trying half a tablet a week. I think I am getting some very mild side effects again but I'm going to stick with it to see what happens. My advice would be to stop taking them until you return to normal, then take maybe 1 pill a week, or half a pill every 5 days. See what happens over a period of time.
  18. I have to disagree here. The guy is only 27 so the hairline can't be too low. A conservative hairline can still be dense - just higher and more densely packed with fewer overall grafts.
  19. Well no one can accuse you of using distance as a barrier! Hope day 1 went well!
  20. I think 2500-2800 and save some for future loss. You probably need to expect another operation will be needed 10 years down the line, unless meds are really effective. Your loss is pretty similar to mine - I reckon I may have lost a bit more. I'm thinking 2500-3000 for myself concentrating on a conservative hairline.
  21. I reckon you should contact Stephen who works for Dr Bisanga. I will message you a link.
  22. Pat is on BBC this evening and it looks like all his HT hair has fallen out. He is at that stage where he has gone back to looking how he did previously. Pat, if you're reading this I wish you luck!
  23. Agree with Hair2d2. Preserve those grafts for when you really need it. Your hair looks ok at the moment and any transplant to the crown would be a waste. Save the donor for the hairline in the future. If you can get cheap concealers they would work wonders
  24. For the illusion of full coverage it would be: no of square cm x 40 = number of grafts required so it's probably going to be at least 25 x 40 = 10,000 grafts. If you're prepared to have a thin crown then of course the numbers are reduced, and if you have thick curly hair then you can get away with less density.
