  1. Unless you really want to have the option of close cropped hair then you should really consider FUT. Hasson & Wong and Rahal the obvious choices for big sessions. FUE in Europe I only know about Feriduni and Bisanga for big FUE work. Lorenzo has some great results. The Turkey boys I know little about as that part of the world is not somewhere I'm considering.
  2. I took it 6 months ago and it gave me headaches. Recently restarted on this small dose. Hope to move up to 0.5mg every 5 days in a month or so. I figure something is better than nothing. There are some threads on here regarding the 'half life' of the drug which suggest it can be effective for several days after just one pill. I think Dr Parsley posted a great response to a smaller dose (1/4 tablet every other day? Something like that).
  3. I took this one this morning. Slight disclaimer that I dyed my hair just prior but there are no styling products. Photo under bathroom spotlights
  4. Good luck. I don't know much about the doctor but what I have heard is all positive.
  5. I just came across this photo in an old email. 1st photo from 1 year ago today. (ignore the text added by clinic) 2nd photo from December 2012. Approx 8 months on Minoxidil up to the 2nd photo.
  6. If you lowered the hairline and went for a appearance of fullness in zones 1 and 2 then that is 1500 grafts used up already. That's why i think you should work around the current hairline - increase the density around hairs from your first HT. Good example here showing how many grafts it takes to fill in the temples: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/135250-dr-rahal-4357-graft-strip-dense-pack.html
  7. I've restarted on fin as I got sides the first time. Just a small dose to start with! Difficult to comment as I'm no expert and not sure where your 1st HT covered. But your doc is an experienced one so I guess there is no reason it's not possible. Hope you get a good result.
  8. Agreed. I should have thought about that a bit more!
  9. I guess you are not on minoxidil or Finasteride? You should try both. 3500 grafts is not a lot to fix the amount of thinning you have. In my opinion, keep the hairline more or less where it is, but pack in extra grafts to give a good density. Then use the rest of the grafts on the mid scalp but forget about the crown. Trying to fill in your temples just wont work - it will use too many grafts and your result will be unsatisfying and thin. Fix the front so it looks good and come back to the crown another time if you have any grafts left for a 3rd HT.
  10. I reckon tell her. The chances are she will be facinated more than anything, especially as she has no idea.
  11. Some of us just have a bum deal. My bro is 36 (2 years older) and NW2. I am not far from NW4A. My Dad was probably NW3 until he hit his mid 40s and is now NW5 or 6
  12. Follicle = Follicular unit = graft Either 1,2,3 and sometimes 4 hairs grow from each graft. Overall it averages at about 2 hairs per graft. For 1000-1500 grafts, you should go see Feller, Feriduni, or Bisanga. All post great FUE results. Dr De Reys has a pretty good reputation and is cheaper if cost is a real issue.
  13. In the UK we just require an ESTA for travel into the US https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ imagine it is the same for South Africa
  14. When you say blow dry, I assume you mean to 'touch up' a la Shampoo.. I'm not sure how well the fibres will attach to hair strands if they are coated in foam/solution. Got to be worth a try. I can get the nanogen out fairly easily with no shampoo - just quite warm tap water and gentle finger massage does the trick. I only rinse where the fibres were and don't wash all my hair. The locking spray is essentially the same as a normal women's firm hold hairspray (so I'm told, although I've yet to try buying one).
  15. Great shortlist! I would add Dr Konior in Chicago - stunning hairlines, just stunning.. 2000 sounds about right and who am I to disagree with Spex! I would try not to touch the forlock too much but that's the judgement call of the Dr. Not sure if you're on medications but that could help maintain that area for a good few years.
  16. Good idea with the hairdryer. I'll try that at the weekend. Dyeing my hair with Just For Men light brown = perfect match for Nanogen Medium Brown!
  17. Allow hair to dry naturally Apply Nanogen Gently style with L'Oreal, Studio Fibre Putty Apply Nanogen locking spray This seems to work well for me, even for windy conditions
  18. I'm absolutely hooked on Nanogen! It takes my hair back to what it looked like 5 or 6 years ago. I don't apply minox in the morning so I towel dry and allow to dry naturally, add some Nanogen to the mid scalp (not too near the hairline), apply a bit of gel to style, and then 4 or 5 sprays of the locking mist. It is a pain at night but I stick my head under the bath tap to wash out the fibres, allow my hair to dry for 5-10 minutes, then apply regaine.
  19. I wouldn't even go there if they paid me 10 grand and gave me a free transplant! AVOID
  20. I'm 50:50 on you doing a 2nd procedure at all, but if you did do, just leave the hairline where it is but beef it up a little. Remember, it has to last 20, 30 years+! Keep those grafts in the bank for a rainy day.
  21. Probably just the combination of natural whorl and slight thinning that make it look a bit scalpy in your crown. Most people thin out a bit when they go from late teens to early 20s...unless their name is Zach Effron.. You should go and have a consultation with a recommended surgeon. However, they will all say three things: Minoxidil, Finasteride, and get on with your life and stop worrying! Oh and trust me, you will care about balding when you are 30, when you are 40, when you are 50...maybe even 60!
  22. Out of that shortlist I would choose...Dr Konior!! But seriously, have you considered Propecia? It's worth a shot. Most people do not get sides and if you do then just give up the pills.
