  1. i used to suffer from the exact same thing...i tried a bunch of shampoos (nizoral, t-gel, baby shampoo, h&s, ect.) and topical steroids. the only thing that has helped me is revita shampoo. i just ordered it last week and from the first time i used it my itching has greatly gone down (knock on wood). i still get it from time to time, but nowhere near where i used to. i say i rid myself of over 90 percent of it. try it out, it might help you too
  2. who did this guy have prp done by and how bad was his hair loss to begin with?
  3. i think dr lindsey gave u your answer. even if you get people on here who say, hey yeah tc you are right, i notice that some people who look like certain family members follow their balding pattern, you will always have some people who notice that not to be true. sooo, imo, the point in asking for observations which can be deeemed maybe not usless, but not bankable per se, is kinda pointless. its luck and genes. a couple people and physicians is not a big enough sample size to make any determination, nothing will outside of a controlled scientific study. as dr lindsey said, he has seen it all in his practice, and looking at decades of heads and hair isn't going to determine anything, meaning that while family history is used and relied upon, there are always those who break the mold. what i am saying is that even if you did notice a pattern, you couldn't necessarily apply that to you. so what would be the point in trying to determine that, whether than own piece of mind. yes, you are more likely to follow family members pattern, but that doesn't mean you are immune to following your own. you say your dad is a 6.5 (and if it were me i would just book that a 7) but you have uncles who have far less loss. its possible you could follow them, and it is possible you follow your dad. only time will tell and no sample patterns can let you know the more likely the answer. hope that makes sense.
  4. im not really sure what you want us to say. if you find it hard to believe you inherited your dad's balding pattern, then plan your ht's like your uncle's hair loss pattern. i understand you would like to know the odds, but us regular guys here have no idea and even if we did give you an answer could you really take that as gospel? doctors have no idea either. what you are asking is such a complex question with so many factors that a simple eyeball of traits cannot answer. I understand what you are trying to ask and it is an interesting question, but no one can even give you you a "likely" answer either. perosnally, if you think you will bald like your uncle then plan your stategy like that. i see no reason why not. my dad is a nw1 (with some diffuse loss at 60) but his brother is a nw4 and his dad a nw4-5 and i can tell i'll end up more like them than my dad. all i am pointing out is just b/c you have some traits and some coincidences about when and how you are balding does not guarantee anything. are you on meds? if not i would start asap.
  5. you are asking questions no one knows the answer to. sure you can hypothesize all you want, but i know just as many hairy as hell guys with full heads of hair as people with no body hair that are bald. family history is only one thing that factors in hair loss, there are many other factors that contribute. everyone is an individual. sitting here trying to figure out your balding pattern, while interesting discussion, no one knows the answer to. my advice would be to get on medication, try prp maybe, and hope for the best. everyone would like to know there final destination, so that transplants can be planned accordingly, but i hate to tell you that no one can answer that for ya. Its important to remember that when dealing with nature and science, logic doesn't always take hold. by that i mean 1+2 doesn't necessarily equal 3 in the world of science. in fact a lot of times it doesn't. just b/c you inherited certain traits from one family member doesn't mean u inherited all of them. u could be balding like your dad but look like your uncle. who knows. hope that makes sense tc.
  6. ny, it stated in the thread earlier that he is not on meds. feller, no i think he has a bald crown. and for the front, it will work just not as well as on the crown (at least according to greco). at this point, no point in asking anymore questions. you are either going to respond to it or u arent. the only way u know is if u try it.
  7. spex...is dr feller using the prp and protein matrix complex that greco is using. the reason i ask this is b/c greco says he hasnt disclosed this yet as it is a proprietary formula that only he is using. from greco: I use PRP or PRP with the protein matrix (Orogen Plus). The technique is the same, but the OP formula is proprietary and requires a second processing step to create the extra cellular protein matrix. At this point we have not disclosed that formula. thanks
  8. anyone have any other suggestions for itchy scalp?
  9. im not really sure what you are looking for nyny. no one knows how well prp will work. regardless your body will still be producing dht and still killing hair folicles. even dr greco will tell you it is meant as an adjunctive treatment to propecia and rogaine. if you are so worried about propecia, then the simple thing is do not take it. but i can guarantee u will have less hair at this time next yr. propecia is extremely safe and has been tested and used by dr's for a long time now. any ht doc on this site will tell u that most of their patients use the drug with no problems. posting about what u should do over and over is not going to change anything. u know the facts now its up to you to decide what to do with them.
  10. you really need to stop worrying about possible side effects. take the standard 1mg dose as they suggest and is fda approved and tested and then go from there. too many people make there own dosing plans and then complain when the drug doesnt work. take 1mg/day then come back in a year. simple as that.
  11. no options? propecia and rogaine work. it may not regrow hair but it will help hold what u have. u chose to have no options.
  12. why are u quitting proscar? u realize u will lose all the hair that u should have lost in the last ten yrs w/in a yr right? when u say it lost its effectiveness, what exactly do you mean since effectivenes can mean differeng things to different people. some recommend a drug holiday or adding a selenium and biotin supplement if this starts happening....just curious as there was an informal follow up study to the propecia participants when the drug was fda approved 9-10 yrs later and most still seemed to have the same hair count as when they had started.
  13. Tom, keep us posted on your results if you dont mind. hopefully dr. feller can chime in and answer some of these questions when he has time this week.
  14. you would think it would help on the hairs that are just miniaturizing too, or atleast keeping up the lateral humps...interested to hear the dr.'s response on this one.
  15. dr feller...sorry for bombarding you with all these questions, appreciate that you have answered all of them! on more for ya...is there anyway to get the entire top of the head with prp w/o diluting it by coming in on back to back days? or would that be a waste of time and money at this point?
  16. Thanks dr. feller, i will definitely do so...out of curiosity, how many prp patients or photos have you seen? thanks!
  17. i dont want to speak for dr. shapiro but I'm pretty sure he would if he knew you have a family history of nw6's and 7's and arent responding to medication. the other thing to consider is rate of thinning and the extent of hair loss. you say you are a nw 3v but is your crown completely bald or just starting to thin? is the thinning slow or fast? both could be considered nw 3v's but with with different properties for sure. dr shapiro made a few great posts in the how many graphs do i need section in which he showed an average but completely bald nw5 patient get full coverage by being conservative with the hairline and distributing the graphs properly... i think the key is getting on meds...ive read to many dr's say these drugs really work and really stop/greatly slow hair loss. between propecia, rogaine, and now hopefully prp, along with a ht and if you really want, concealers, even if no new technology comes out for the next 50 years u should be in pretty decent shape between all those things. I really dont think hair cloning or anything similar will be available anytime soon. Ive read and heard its coming at a rapid clip and we are closer now than ever before but everyone said the same thing about hiv/aids in the 80's/90's...yet here were are over 20 years later and while medication has improved, syill no vaccine or cure. I think that is what you will see with hair loss. I hope I'm wrong of course but time will tell. Maybe Dr. Shapiro can chime in as he is more in touch in the hair restoration community.
  18. HT surgeon Dr. Mark Baxa says that a Biotin and selenium supplementation to propecia really helps make propecia keep its effectiveness as well.
  19. Dr. Feller, 3 quickies for you: how does one go about scheduling an appointment, especially an out of town patient who would probably have to fly in and leave the same day? also, when do u think you will have a solid sample size of photos to see if this really works. it seems like it would work best on patients who haven't experienced a great deal of loss yet. i also remember you saying something along the lines of the way it used/applied falls a little short, or something to that effect. do you think that this is something you can work on/solve in the future? benefits on the frequency of more treatments would be interesting too. thanks again dr feller.
  20. like i said, it was my own observations, not a fact i was stating...people will thin later, people will thin sooner. dont chastise me though when i clearly said this is just my observations. did i say im looking at men and assuming they are older? no, i gave 2 examples of males in family and said that is where they were at. sheesh. you are assuming everyone will progress to a nw 7, everyone's donor will thin out completely. like you said you dont know them so dont make assumptions about which hair will go and which hair will stay. i have seen almost no 22 yr olds with donor thinning so i assume u are a rare case.
  21. think about what u are asking here....fue allows you to get graphs that strip simply cannot. fue allows for a higher number of graphs b/c it can take fu's from the safe zone and it doesnt have to be a in a straight line. just be careful tho, as it seems from your posts u have lots of 6 and 7's in your family history.
  22. Dr. Robert Jones did the procedure on himself about two months ago, looks like he is having some results as well. http://www.drrobertjones.com/blog.html
  23. good post...however just b/c this guy looked like that at 28 and now at 50 doesnt mean we all will. but i think what u are saying is plan safely and conservatively. what do u mean by an indistinct fringe though. can you post a picture showing what u mean? thanks!
  24. we can already multiply hair in test tubes...the key now is getting them to grow on the scalp
