  1. Is it better to have a small head or a large head? When I say head size I'm guessing that your hat size would describe this.
  2. 3v...has the propecia slowed or stopped your hair loss and have you had any sides?
  3. Dr. Meja, Thanks for responding. Here is the thing, I have tried T-gel and it just made symptoms worse. I also have tried a topical steroid and while it does help, it barely lasts a day. Plus I heard that using that daily is not good at all for your scalp. I have read more than a few people say propecia got rid of their itch so maybe I will try that. I was just wondering if it could be a thyroid or a skin condition. Dandruff really isnt that pronounced so I doubt its from that. Any other advice?
  4. interesting...i think your right though in that most nw 6 and 7's probably get there before the age of 35. I mean look at how many nw5 and 6 there are on this site that arent even 30 yet, some in their early 20's. If I had to guess, I would say that these are the people most likely to advance that far on the norwood scale. Of course by the time someone young like myself (25, nw2-3) gets to be 50 or 60, I would say its a pretty safe bet that restoration treatments will be better and more advanced than what we have now (ie propecia, strp surgeries, rogaine) ect...
  5. would it be wise to get bloodwork done? and what would i test for? I have read out of whack hormone levels or thyroid problems can be a cause of itchy scalp as well. any advice?
  6. i think, and i could be wrong here, but i think its more the rate of loss than the age. There are some guys on this site who had a full head of hair at 35, only to be a complete NW6 by 37. Rassman says its just an early progression of the gene but I was wondering what others experiences have been with themselves and people they know.
  7. I guess this is more geared to older guys or people who know their older relatives history of balding, but is there a point where hair loss just stops and burns out. I found this on the web from Dr. Rassman: The general rule is that for those who have hair loss in their 20s, most of it will slow down by the mid 30s and by the time the person reaches 40-45, it should slow down even further.??? He also says that people in their twenties just experience an early progression of the gene. So if I'm understanding this right, no matter when you lose your hair, whatever was genetically predetermined to fall out will fall out. Hence why some people who start losing in their twenties could still end up with having more hair than someone who starts losing in say their thirties. Also, how much does your family history really play a part? Anyone have any comments on this? For older guys did your hair loss ever become stable in your lives? Thanks

  9. stop crying and show your photos...i guarantee you wont tho lol
  10. Hey guys, I have a problem in that I just can't seem to rid myself of this scalp itch. I have tried Nizoral 2% T-Gel H&S and a selenium sulfide based presciption shampoo and none of them seem to work. In fact othe SS and T-Gel made it worse. I am thinking of giving Nioxin, Revita, and Revivogen a try but I was wondering if anyone has had success with controlling their itch with these products. I do have a bit of dandruff but it is more powder like than flakey if that makes sense. I also find that my forehead near the hairline in particular can seem oily and greasy. what would help with this? I have heard of a few people saying that once they started propecia it got rid of their scalp itch as well. I have noticed that where my scalpi tiches, hair loss is at its greatest as well. I guess I'm just looking for a few answers and or suggestions. Thanks!
  11. you obviously misinterpreted or just ignored the "being realistic part" of my post. typical in that you post what you want and hear what you want. Part of being realistic is know ht's will not give a bald guy a full head of hair. part of being realistic is knowing that you will probably need multiple procedures as hair loss is progressive. But your doom and gloom approach, and yes it is that, is not reality. Yes there are risks, a bad scar or a pluggy look to name a few, but a top doc more than likely will give you a cosmetically improved result while being responsible and honest with you about what he can achieve and you can expect. Hair loss is progressive, yes, and you need to plan accordingly. Young guys need to understand this. However, looking at family history,l getting on meds, having a doc look at your pattern will give you a pretty good predictor of where you are heading. Not everyone who loses hair will advance to a NW6 or 7. Finally i say research research research. You are right in that some clinics will and do take advantage of people. But there is a reason this forum is here and why the doctors here have been reviewed by both their clients and their peers.
  12. Well said Bill, I would also like to add that while lms might not be happy with their ht's, there are many many people who are. No one is saying, "hey look i beat baldness", but to say spending thousands of dollars on ht's to improve appearance which can do worlds for their confidence and make people feel better about themselves is a waste of money, well, i bet a whole lot of people feel differently. Look at a guy like jotronic, a straight baldie who now will have a more than acceptable head of hair for the rest of his life thanks to his transplant. Do the research and choose a top doc while being realistic and educated about hair loss and i guarantee you wont be dissapointed.
  13. from rahal's clinic visit: "On the day of my visit the patient of the day was from Korea. He had lower than average density and the vast majority of his follicular units were one and two hairs, as is typical with many Asian patients. Thus despite taking a fairly wide and long strip he only yielded just under 3,000 grafts."
  14. asian's typically have LESS density than caucasians....thats why strip surgery is hard for patients like these. there is a blurb about that in the visits to other clinics session where they observed an asian gett a ht.
  15. I agree with Bill, Dr. umar its time to step up to the plate and anser these questions or you risk losing your credibility. You keep referring to the same three patients yet I'm sure you have performed hundred's of surgeries. Where are the results? IMO BHT should be used as a filler as well. And to this date, the only person who I would trust to do that on me is DR. True since he is the only one who has explained his methods and what one can expect from such a procedure.
  16. I'll have to ask my father a bit more so that I can clarify b/c maybe I'm not explaining it right. I'll see what I can get from him tonight.
  17. Caesar - In small doses, yes, it is very beneficial. But we are talking about large doses for years on end to keep the hair. I'll see what my father can dig up and I'll post it b/c I understand the cynasism. But for me, I would rather believe him who knows a ton about the stuff than a bunch of cynical posters who say where is the proof. Although if I was on your side of the fence I would be saying the same thing probably lol. Moreover, its not just injecting ones own blood in the body. Its separating these blood cells so there are high concentrations of them to promote and stimulate growth and healing. But when you do this, these cells run the risk of developing their own growth properties, which like I said can mutate into tumors, cancer, ect... As far as doctors and dentists using them, like I said in small doses. But don't be nieve that there aren't dr's out there using this nonchalatently. Just like there are bad ht surgeons, there are unethical dr's all over the place. If you don't believe me, ask all these ball players getting caught with hgh and womens fertility drugs....
  18. Honestly, aside from your arrogant reply, Ive been on this forum for a long time as a lurker and just the other day finally joined. If it seems like I have an agenda, and I can see how it may come off that way, then I am sorry because I don't. What benefit would bashing PRP have for me? Really? I will ask my father, who has a PHD by the way, to look at the peer reviewed stuff on PRP and send it to me so that I can post it. If you don't want to believe what he says then by all means be skeptical but I will do my best to get some info I can post on this. But just because Dr. Feller is incorporating it (and btw I think DR. Feller is awesome) doesn't mean its safe. If you don't want to believe me don't, and if I were you I would probably be a bit cynical too, but like I said my dad uses this stuff all the time and this is what he told me. If it is so safe, how come its not FDA approved? At this point its all experimental. Like I said believe what you want, and I again apologize if it looks like I have an agenda, but I don't, other than wanting to warn people that it might not be totally safe.
  19. Your 'understanding' is not as good as my fathers...that much is for certain. Its application to what we are talking about is brand new and yes, these things have manifested before. But believe what you want....
  20. Unless you are reading peer reviewed scientific and medical journals, I doubt a google search is going to provide you with much information. At this point PRP is experimental. I'll ask my father if he could go a but further in depth but as far as I know its not fda approved and the long term risks of these procedures, especially in larger doses, is not known yet.
  21. my father works with it daily...this is what he told me
  22. There is a lot of talk about PRP on here, and rightfully so. These platelets have a lot of growth and stimulant properties which obviously can be correlated to helping control hair loss as well as regrow hair. However, what some of you don't understand is that when you start separating these cells and injecting them into the human body, especially in large doses, they can take on their own growth properties, meaning these cells can grow and turn into different types of tumors, cancers, ect... While I'm sure to average person PRP appears to be safe (aka without side effects), not enough research has been done to show the long term effects and I would be very hesitant to be using this on my scalp, especially with the possibility you could be aiding in starting a brain tumor in your own body.
