  1. real sorry ttp...you seem to have great caliber hair too. what do u think your next course of action will be. repair by dr. alexander? another clinic such as shapiro or h&w? again, real sorry dude.
  2. what you fail to understand is that age is only one component of the equation. as much as you should be concerned about balding at a young age, family history and genetics is just as if not more important. you assume that just b/c you start to bald in your twenties that you are automatically in that 11 percent, which I dont honestly know how you can say. and yeah, you did in fact state that most twenty somethings will reach that pattern "I keep thinking to myself that many young patients who are experiencing balding will eventually end up with this man's pattern, and will not have enough grafts to keep up. What I don't understand though, is why this guys pattern isn't the template for every young, balding man who presents for a surgery. (of course, not all young bald men will become old men with this extreme baldness, but it seems likely)" The fact is, if you have a history of family members with severe balding, whether it starts at 35 or 25 or 45, you will most likely reach that pattern at some point, whereas if you dont you are more likely to level out at some point. Rate of balding also matters. someone may start to bald in their 20's at a slow but steady pace whereas someone might not loose thier hair til they are almost 40 but have it fall out at a rapid clip. you seem to think that everyone will reach this level of balding at some point when that is simply not the case. you bring up examples of other patients who are now bald who might have had a decent head of hair in their 20's but fail to mention they probably had a family history full of baldies and did not take any meds whatsoever. Sure propecia has only been around x number of years but from talking to the ht docs most of their patients do very well on it with no side effects and they really believe in it. I get what you are saying about how know one knows for sure how far you will advance and how it is a risk and that family history cant tell us everything and that meds only do so much but tell us something we don't know....I'm not really trying to engage in a debate or argument so this is all i have to say on this but I suggest if you are so concerned to not go thru with having ht and wait til hair multipication comes out or something. its no guarantee but im willing to bet techniques, medicines, and treatment of baldness improve by the time im 50, which will be in over 20 years.
  3. I think if you are this bald you should just shave it. you arent fooling anyone with a comb over and imo it just looks bad. I just think that there needs to be a line drawn as to who is and isnt a ht candidate and its clear this guy should never have been one. If he was that concerned about being this bald, he should have gotten a hair piece. another thing that isnt talked about enough is also your rate of balding and what meds can do for you. matt at smg told me that propecia makes the hair that you would otherwise lose in 5-10 yrs lose it instead in a 30-35 yr time frame. i also heard from another doc that he has never seen anyone go "bald" while on proecia. you cant just pluck random people out of the population and say this is the template for everyone. its a case by case basis, which includes family history, meds, hair characteristics, ect...
  4. tc, not every young guy balding is going to end up THIS bald, especially if they have no family history of guys advancing this far. i see your point about being concerned, but come on, this guy is very very very very bald, more bald than most. don't really see how u can say that this should be the template for all 20 something year olds, you say is likely but based on what? Most, not all, but most guys who end up this bald have been this way for a loooong time and were probably nw5-6 by the time they were 21, or somewhere close. its obvious as one ages he looses a bit of density in the donor but how much no one knows. thats risk EVERYONE takes if they get a ht. look at jack nicholson, he had a lot of recession when he was young but his sides have held up great and he's definitely getting up there in age. my grandpa is the same way, donor hair has held up great. My dad is in his 60's and has a full head of hair with some diffuse thinning while his brother is almost the same age, probably a nw4 but great donor. This guy could have had thin hair to begin with that just accentuated worse with age. no one knows. like i said its a risk. at some point you have to decide if that risk is worth it. if i had a bunch of family members w/ nw6-7 patterns i would be really hesitant, but i think with meds and decent family history and the hopes that in 30 something years propecia and rogaine arent the only things available to fight hairloss, that is all u have to go by and a chance a lot are willing to take.
  5. thanks dr. feller, encouraging to hear. Dr. Greco mentioned that most of his patients have reported some combination of a slowing or stopping of loss and improvement in hair and scalp conditions. Hopefully this becomes another treatment for all hair loss sufferers looking forward to more pics.
  6. dr. feller could you please reply to this thread since u are now back on the forums and posting again? thanks
  7. any new updates or pics on prp patients? feedback from patients?
  8. Dr feller, any prp updates you can share with us. haven't heard a peep or seen any pics in awhile so i take it they arent going as planned?...
  9. i think you have every right to be disappointed. almost half your donor supply in that area and still clearly visible bald spots is not exactly what i would call a great result. just my opinion tho...
  10. just b/c he has that much loss now does not guarantee he will be a nw6 plus. grant it, it is a good question and there is a good chance he might but nothing is a guarantee. propecia can maintain what he has for a very long time.
  11. so much for the greatest thing since propecia comment...ray, were you looking for results on the hairline or crown?
  12. looks good. but 3000 graphs packed in on the hairline, what about future loss?
  13. Hey great result Joe...definitely shows the importance of hair characteristics. Definitely get this guys' 12 months if you can.
  14. Thanks Janna. I tried searching for them but couldn't find it. But again, thx.
  15. Thanks Janna. Quick question on an unrelated case for you. Do you happen to have this guys before/after pics on file somewhere. Just was particularly impressed with this result. Thanks!
  16. they said this where at greco's office? Opposite of what he told me, in fact i spoke with him directly not a consultant.
  17. were you losing in the hairline or crown and how far advanced is your baldness?
  18. Well I think I need to say that I did hear from Dr. Greco and he did put me in touch with a patient. He showed me a few results with pics and it definitely looked good. The patient I talked to was also thrilled with his results. I'm beginning to think ti might be like propecia. Work in some and not work as well in others.
  19. predator, the guy has had 4 ht's and over 9600 graphs, I think he's done, no way he has donor left to use...
  20. Hey Janna looks great. Question, how does Dr. Ron determine where to put hairline on a patient so young? Would this young man have enough donor if he progresses to say a nw5? Thanks Janna!
  21. Thanks Ray Ray. I have been emailing Dr. Greco asking for pics showing the benefits of prp and to be put in touch with happy patients but have been met with nothing but silence. I guess that says it all. I have also pm'd Dr. Glen Charles for some pics and so far he has not even responded. Go figure. What were your target areas? hairline I'm guessing? Does Greco have many prp pictures in his office or did you just drop a grand on cold faith?
  22. Here is my email and reply from dr. greco from a few weeks ago, I have sent him another email about pics and what not so hopefully he will respond to that soon: Dr. Greco, I just had a few minor questions about scheduling a PRP treatment session. 1. What airport/city do out of town patients who have to travel via airfare fly into? Do you know what a typical cab fare might be to your office might be from there? 2. How much do you charge for single treatment? 3. I see that your PRP differs from Dr. Feller's in two ways. One, he uses individual needle pricks instead of a roller, saying that actually puncturing the skin gives a better result than just irritating it, and two, he waits until the prp is inside the dermis before activating it, saying that that way it won't get diluted and will just makes more sense to him. Do you have any thoughts on this? 4. Finally, do you have any pics of your prp patients you would be willing to send with their results, I can only see two on your weblog and figure you must have many more. Just need to justify flying out and spending the kind of money I would be by seeing a few results. Thanks!! Look forward to hearing from you. GRECO: Thanks for email. While I'm on the road please excuse by reply format. Tampa airport. Most patients fly in and out the same day. Cabs $20, 800 for PRP and 1K foe Orogen Plus or PRP with the protein matrix. For the past two and half years we have tried all different techniques and we teach activating after or when injecting the GM's into the scalp because one of my partners did studies at Tuffs University and found we can reduce EFG by 40 percent. We stimulate with a roller because it creates more incisions and a more even distribution of stimulation. PRP is then injected throughout the scalp and activated. A light layer of PRP is kept on the scalp over night. We do things based on our studies and experience with PRP. Two of my partners have PRP numerous patents ever 30k PRP cases. I have been in hair 25 years and using PRP 12 years so I think we can speak with some authority based on our clinical experiences. It is humerous to hear how new techniques are superior when we developed this therapy in hundreds of cases over past few years and others have been doing this only a few months. I respect forward thinking and encourage continued contributions by hair specialists but don't say a technique is superior until you see results more than a few months. Just posted a female on mu blog. I can have you speak with patients. We are having very nice results. Thanks HD for your interest Best J Greco Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
  23. the only one i would trust to do prp at this point is greco or feller. i doubt either would be going around offering this if it could potentially ruin their reputation. i did ask greco about photos and he said that the ones on his blog have been the only ones he has permission to post online. i dont know what to think about that as its only the top of ones head you are showing, but in his defense he did say he would put me in touch with several of his patients if i wanted for references. i'm not sure how long he has been doing this but im not sure its been a yr in terms of him using it to combat hairloss altho i could be wrong on that. feller has posted two decent results and ive read on other forums some people who have said the results are good. the thing is tho, atleast from what i understand, is that its greatest benefit is to those who are just starting to miniaturize. someone who has had four ht's like yourself may or may not be able to tell any difference b/c u cant differentiate ht hair and normal hair. LLLT was the big thing yrs ago but i saw very few REPUTABLE docs offer this. The fact that someone like feller is offering is good enough for me to atleast try, as is that the IAHRS gave a research grant on prp. im with you on seeing more photos, but really how many people have had this done? maybe feller or greco can best answer that.
  24. yep thats it...also make sure to follow the directions. its on the box but its one application for 1-2 min, then a second one 3-5. hope it works for you!
