Dr Resul Yaman - 4500 grafts January 11 2022.

Hi guys! so its been almost 7 months since my operation. I have posted the pictures above under different conditions and different way the hair is sitting.

So if i am happy with the result?

No, as you can see from pictures the front area is very low density. Under normal lighting i can see the scalp and if i step out, it just makes it worse. The hairline looks natural because Dr Yaman did transplanted behind my natural hair, but its not dense at all. Someone standing in front of me can see through the front hairline. I expected a bit more density considering i did almost 4500 grafts and almost all of them went to front and mid scalp. Furthermore we didnt even bring the hairline down (which i wanted to do at that point but Dr advised me against it). Also because he transplanted behind my existing hair, I have weird hair hanging around in front which i have to shave to make it look clean. Furthermore, not all hair is angling properly.. the right side is going other way and left side is going other way. Which makes hair settling without product very hard, but i have heard it takes a while to hair soften out, so yeah im going to wait on that. So yeah expected a better result for sure.

Is it better than before?

I will be dumb to say its not better than before, for sure it is. But that is not the point of the transplant. My goal was to go out without doing my hair or applying topic and other concealers. But if i am going out in an event, i have to put products to conceal the scalp(Which is exactly what i was doing before the transplant). SO transplant just made styling easier.

1 year mark.

I am still patient regarding the growth, as they say it takes 12 months for full growth. But to be honest i dont see any hairs sprouting, atleast within last 2 month. Most of my growth came from 4month up until 5 month. After that the hair is just getting longer, giving the illusion of density, but no new growth yet. So i am patiently waiting for 1 year mark.

Next step.

As much as it hurts and i know its soon, but i am mentally preparing myself to for a touchup/repair. Adding density in the front for sure and maybe some in between. Maybe another 1000grafts will do the job? I dont know yet, will decide on it at 1 year mark.

Let me know your thoughts or questions.

Please dont bash me for having high expectations or not waiting for 1 year mark. As i mentioned i am waiting for it, but people asked for updated and hence i am giving it. We pay money to get a desirable result, if the result is not desirable, we have the right to talk about it. I know for a lot of people its a good/decent result. And i am not saying its worse result out there, just not up to my expectations. But i have time, so hoping for some more growth.

Seems pretty okay actually... your hair was basically like vegetation on barren desert on the temples, while there isn't any furthering of the hairline, the density itself although is kind of lacking, it is expected of the usual HT. The empty part seems to be mostly on the middle scalp, but i'm not sure if thats due to the styling.

Also, usually i tell people to best avoid yaman unless very on budget, since there were several people who had bad result. So at least i don't think i'm being biased.

The back crown is looking a ligtle empty though... anyhow, like you planned, a second pass would fix the density problem.

Yeah unfortunate, i was on a budget, but i guess with 2nd transplant probably kills the whole point to be on budget lol.

for sure the result is okay, with products and styling i can maintain a decent hairstyle. Before it was miserable to do anything. And a little longer hair, probably will cover the density issue as well.

I think it’s an acceptable outcome thus far. Can you share some more before pictures similar angles and lighting as your after pictures?

For 7 months, this looks reasonable to me, still plenty of time for more growth and maturation.

It looks pretty good from where u were ..

i had 2500 grafts just to the hairline .. so ur results are kinda what it’s suppose to be .. all those pics u see people with great outcomes.. it’s very selective pictures , n most they were great growth patients ..

so looks like u got a good enough result where there’s no refund , no top-up.. just gotta hope it grows in more in the next few months .
no worries after awhile u get used to it ,, n won’t worry about the imperfection .. n not worth going in for another surgery .. that’s what happened to me ..

I think your result looks pretty good so far with big change on your appearance compared to before. It also looks natural.  It will still be improved until 12 month where multiple hairs will yield at full and your hair will be soften after 12 months.  Enjoy your result mate.

I think yes its decent and the problem why top part is looking like its missing density is due to angling of grafts. My left side grafts are going back and right side grafts  are going on the side which causes a gap in the middle when hair sits naturally. Look at the pictures attached. The grafts are angled to go up, which is causing that side to look like less dense.

Thanks for the tag. I agree with your assessment generally and fully understand why you feel the way you do. The feelings you describe remind me a lot of where I am in my journey, actually.

That said, the age-old advice still stands. Wait for 12 months, make a full assessment, plan accordingly. Getting a second surgery isn't the worst thing - it just means you'll end with a full result a little later than planned. Just be wary that if you do get a second HT, you'll be looking for a surgeon who specializes in a low transection rate, as they'll be working between hairs.

Keep us posted!

A very important factor that we tend to forget about is full hair caliber maturation which on average takes approximately 15 months and Moe appears to have average to above average degree of hair caliber…so, my premonition is that the “illusion” of coverage will significantly improve by month 15 or so…and my suggestion is to wait until then to reassess the “final visual” result…yes it’s possible that a smaller touch-up will be desired but wait and see and give this procedure an opportunity to “fully mature”.

Hi guys! Here is my update. It's been exactly 1 year since my transplant. The pictures below are styled with blow dryer and cream. No toppik was or concealer was used. Hair length is pretty long

Results: The results seems to be okay, will probably go for repair work next year after saving some money. The density is not there, especially in the front. If i dont use toppik, it looks really bad. So basically anytime i have to go out, i need to use products to hide the skin. Which i kinda used to do before as well and was trying to avoid continuing after hair transplant. Some areas where i see density issues in hairline was actually communicated to the Doctor right away after surgery but they said it will all be good, clearly it wasnt all good. I am not saying its a botched job, the results are decent, i have seen good and i have seen worse as well. When i had short hair the results looked very bad, with long hair it doesnt look that bad. I am just concerned with hairline, it doesnt have density as under normal lighting you can see directly through it. There seems to be alot multi grafts in hair line as well.

There seems to be some issue with angling of hair as well, my two sides have different angles of hair ( 2 technicians working, one on each side). Which creates it nearly impossible to style hair without using products because they dont sit well and goes opposite of each other.

Donor seems to be doing good, no issues there.

There has been no follow up or communication from Doctors office either and i didn't bother to contact them either.

Overall i will rate my experience satisfied with Dr Yaman, clearly its an improvement from previous situation. Just wish he listened at that time and fixed the issue regarding hairline density at the time of surgery as now i will have to go for another surgery.

Feel free to ask any questions!

Considering your previous situation and that you covered your whole recipient area with that surgery, your result is successful and it looks very good..

Your appearance has been improved a lot and now you have got a pretty nice hair line.

Note that you can’t achieve your natural hair density with a hair transplant. But you can increase your density in the front with a touch up if you want. Enjoy your new hair 🙌👍

I think your procedure was successful. The hairline looks soft and natural, and at the price point. I don’t think you could ask for better if I’m being honest.

Just because you get a hair transplant doesn’t mean you don’t have to worry about your hair. You still need to style it to maximize the illusion of density. I still do that after 4 surgeries.

Bro you keep posting the same pre pictures, it gives me PTSD :D

But yea, its definitely an improvement and me being lazy not to style it.

But do you agree with the density in the hairline? its lacking a bit?

Moe,

ok my friend, I cannot agree more with the other members here that your transformation is significant from your before pictures…the challenges you face are comprised of first and foremost having a wide color contrast as you have very dark hair and a very fair complexion which allows ultraviolet light to reflect off of your scalp much more than average contrasts…second, the grade of your hair appears a little bit finer than if your hair was coarse…thirdly, using a wet hair style is counter-productive visually speaking and if I was in your place, I would keep the frontal zone dry and use strong hold hair spray to hold your style in place.

Now, if you end up doing a touch-up density procedure and you still have too much light reflecting off of your scalp, an SMP pass will work magic for the “final” end result.
