8 Months Post-Op. Did I get decent results?

Hi there,

So I'm 8 months post-op from my first FUT procedure where I had about 4800 grafts transplanted. To be honest, I'm a little unsure if I was able to achieve decent results.

I can't deny that my hair definitely looks better than it did before the procedure, but I'm wondering if I maybe did something that caused a poor yield. The reason I say this is that under certain lighting the hair looks pretty good. But under other lighting, I feel that it looks very thin, sparse, and almost fake.

I've posted a few photos of the hairline and the top under different lighting conditions. It's quite clear that it looks much better in certain lighting conditions than it does in others. The hairline is bothering me the most. It is a lot weaker than I though it would turn out to be. I feel like the transplant is much more 'see through' than what I'd like to believe it is. Unless I have it combed perfectly, the lack of density is extremely noticeable.

I'm definitely aware that rarely does anyone get by with just one procedure. I'm also aware that transplants require a lot artistry and skill by the surgeon to create the 'illusion' of more hair. I'm just wondering if maybe I didn't get great results.

I'd also like to ask if having another procedure done right away would improve the density and overall appearance much? I mean obviously it would but would, let's say, 2000 more grafts make a huge difference? I kind of feel that no matter how many more transplants I get, it won't be enough.

Thanks

Pretty GREAT results!

Congratulations!

Of course you can add another 2000 for more density (WE ALL COULD)

....then after that addition add another 2000....then another....then.... You see where I am going with this. It all depends on your donor density, your satisfaction level with current and future densities and doctor's willingness. In other words, SHOULD YOU is a personal choice with some limiting factors.

But I'd say HT 1 was a complete SUCCESS

Congrats again!

If you was a high NW, I would say this looks like it can be a good result after the full 18mths cycle.

If you was a lower NW then for a mega session of 4800 grafts then it could be questionable only after 18mths.

Please can you post some pre op pics so we can have a better idea of where you started from.

I think it looks ok when the hair is combed forward and to the side. but you can see a difference in density when it's brushed up.

edit: sorry I didnt even notice you said you're 8 months out. in that case it looks right on track and much more thickening up to come. could you take some pics in natural daylight light..

Personally, I see a huge difference, especially keeping in mind that you're only 8 months post-op. Give it at least 4 more months to continue to mature (and ideally a full 18 months to achieve it's full potential).

As for the results seeming different under different lighting, I think that's quite normal - hair transplant or not. Good lighting is your hair, skin, and overall appearance's best friend. :) The key to evaluating results is that the before and after photos are done in the same lighting. That will give you the best indication of the progress you've made.

I agree with what others have already said. I think your results look great already and you're sure to see continued thickening.

The OP has gone quiet since starting this thread. I agree it looks good. Would be good if he could answer the question of which doc performed it.

Well to me it just looks Fine but I would like to see where he started from as 4800 grafts is a good 75% /80% of the average donor capacity & that was one hell of a mega session & yep I'm curious of who performed the surgery also.
