Despite there being progress I must say that the wait is absolutely excrutiating!!! I suppose it's natural but I really had no idea about how difficult the mental side of the recovery period was before my HT - it's vey tough!!

This a million times. I am 4 weeks tomorrow/or one month on Friday (had it done 11th Oct) and the mental side of post HT surgery messes with you big time. Prior to the surgery all I really thought about what the surgery itself, would it be painful, I was worried a little about swelling on flight home and redness etc, but the reality is (certainly for me) the biggest and most stressful part has been the post surgery care and subsquent shed. The stress of washing it the first week post surgery wondering if you are washing hairs away, then when the shed kicks in, the worry that maybe its not just regular shed and that it could be lost grafts etc. I am now quite similar to your one month pics with most of the hair shed. It started middle of last week over the last 3-4 days its really shed, I reckon I'm probably down to about 20-30% max. Anyway, definately an excellent point and one I think more people should be aware of before hand.

On another note I had my hair cut today and I wanted to see how low I could take it. I am at 5 months and 16 days exactly. I got a back and sides and ended up having a #3 guard all the way up to the crown and a #2 for everything below the scar. Pics from the same angles in the same room with the same lighting as previous updates. I've also attached a shot of the back of my head so you can see what everything looks like from the back.

Wow , I to say I totally missed your thread previously, but your pictures and results to date look awesome. One thing that worries me is the density, do you know what denisty Dr Hasson aimed for, i.e how many follicular units per square centimeter (FU/cm2) and how does the density feel at this stage?

Thank you to everyone for your positive comments and kind words! Dr Hasson is amazing and the positive impact this can have is, in my eyes at least, priceless.

I agree with you 100% Jax. Going in you only think about the procedure itself when, in reality, the tough part only starts once they've finished and lasts for a number of months. It's pretty heavy. That being said, you will get through it! If it makes you feel any better about your situation remember it could always be worse - I had my gf at the time dump me pretty much the day I landed back in the UK from Canada, which was definitely less than ideal and made the whole process much worse! As a heads up so you can manage expectations I didn't feel comfortable with how I looked until into month 4, and things only started to look really good in literally the past few weeks.

H&W do not record transplanted density on the patient chart - I did ask them not long after having my HT. However, Dr Hasson made a remark about my density right after surgery as he said it was extremely high - in the high 70s/80s. The density is pretty much the same as my native hair and the placement is (in my eyes) flawless. I am very excited to see how things will look once the hair matures properly. I've included a shot of a closeup of my hairline taken a few days ago - you can judge for yourself.

What a cow (sorry :D), can't believe she dumped you the day you landed after surgery. I've just hit the ugly phase so was dreading work today but my team have said it doesn't look too bad. I kinda hoping the top (not transplanted hair) will be long enough by the end of Dec that it starts to cover up the recipient area and redness, but I might be deluding myself. Oh well, I had upper eye lid surgery and then sat on the flight back from Glasgow with blood dripping down my face (wound was seeping) so use to looking like a freak ocassionally so I'm sure I'll survive. :P

Wow, 70s/80s is huge, I thought the norm was 50-55. I believe Erdogan was aiming for 55 FU/cm2 with mine. No wonder yours is looking so good. I do worry that I may need to go back and get another 600-800 hairs in the front to get the density. I guess time will tell. Anyway, congrats again, not sure it can look any better, but will definately be looking out for your future updates.

Hello JustJax,

You and JT are looking good so far. JustJax could you provide a link to your hair progress? Tried looking but cannot find it.

70/80 grafts is a lot. But I mentioned this before in another thread that the norm is 40 grafts per cm. How many patients can actually grow on 70/80? That is something worth researching.

I'm somewhat concerned about Turk doctors despite their seemingly good work. Their work looks good but I wonder if they overdo it to the point where it becomes risky to the patient's hair growth.

No need to apologise - i agree!. Funny thing is it's no big deal because now I look and feel the best I ever have, so really who's the loser in this situation.

I had no knowledge prior to my surgery about things like density in grafts/cm. I just went in and trusted Dr Hasson to deliver a result that matched the density of my native hair and that's exactly what he's done. I remember him mentioning it as a passing comment and I had no context to understand it at the time.

BTW If I was gonna get an HT done in Turkey it would be Erdogan - I wish you all the best!

Stick around to find out, I'll keep updating to at least the 12 month mark..!

Obviously I never went to a Turkish doctor, but some of them have great results!

Hi All,

Today is exactly 6 months since my HT with Dr Hasson. Everything is progressing nicely, but it's kind of becoming harder to notice distinguishable differences from week to week. I would take a gamble and say that everything has sprouted and now I'm just waiting for it to mature.

Even at this stage the result is truly life changing and I feel without a doubt the best I ever have. Pics attached as before - my hair isn't styled as well as previous updates, but you get the idea..

Any questions let me know, otherwise I'll see you all next month.

Here's an update at 7 months. Everything seems to be moving along nicely. Hair is still a little crinkly in spots which is to be expected at this point. Looking forward to the hair softening up over the next few months, but in all honesty if everything stopped now I'd still be over the moon.

I can't thank Dr H enough - he did a good job i think!

Honestly TJ, it's like you're just some dude who's been lucky enough to avoid the MPB gene. You look like you've never been receding.

Grand slam result. Congratulations man

Thanks Home!

Thanks Ernie! Much appreciated. I am very pleased so far and have had many compliments. Although I can't help but think I should have gone FUE.. Would have been nice to be able to shave it a little tighter on the back and sides, but that doesn't mean I'm any less thrilled with how it looks now.

How have you found things have changed for you from months 7 to where you are now (i think 9..?).

great results. congrats Tj287 :)

how's you scar looking?

is it also ear to ear?

Thanks for your kind words, noob My scar is longer than ear to ear - it wraps around my entire head basically. Thankfully it's really hard to spot. I've included a couple of pictures of the back of my head. I get my hair trimmed down to a #3 and a #2 for areas below the scar line.

It might also be worth noting that I did have shock loss around my scar that's only recently rectified itself in the past few months.

So my surgery was exactly 8 months ago yesterday - how time flies!

Not much to report really, things seem to be always improving. My hair is longer than it ever has been, mainly due to not being able to get an appt at my barber and for no other reason.

As my hair is longer I have noticed the difference in the hair shaft as the grafts begin to settle down. The ends (which were formed some months ago) are much, much curlier - my hair is normally arrow-straight. I have also noticed that towards the root of each hair (which is newer) the hair sits more naturally, whereas before it tended to stick straight up. All in all the maturation of the hair is bringing about positive changes and I may post an update after my haircut next week to see how it looks when it's shorter.

I have also found that the scar is more noticeable as my hair gets longer - the temple region above my ears is pretty weak, so the hair never really gets long there. As a result when anything above it gets longer the hair kind of sits up. You can see a crease in the picture if you look very closely on the right hand side only, but it's not something a layman would ever notice.

Aside from that I'll let the pictures do the talking. Any feedback welcomed/

Incredible result at only 8 months!!! Congrats! I think we can say this is another huge success story from H&W :)

Tj, curious about your treatment to maintain, progesterone used once daily, 100mg, correct? I have also began using progesterone, going on 2months+ now. I use topical cream. I notice that it has eliminated all facial acne, and made my face much smoother, is this something you've noticed as well? No side effects at all, only positive ones like no more acne and better facial skin quality.

I think it's still early to notice any benefit on hair, but I would like to hope it's helping. When did you start to notice hair maintaining/thickening on progesterone? i.e how many months into treatment?

Thanks so much, and congrats again man.
