Wow man, looking incredible. Still growing? Still thickening?

Still thickening? Maybe.

Still (new hairs) growing? Don't think so.

It's done. :-)

Looks good Ernie! You must be thrilled! Curious, how long do you think your hair was in those pics (when you felt it was longest)...like 10.5 month, etc?

Not sure what you mean? I think I buzzed it around month 3.5, and I've let the top grow since then. About 8 months later at this point (currently at 11.5 months). My hair is about 4 inches in length in the hairline right now.

I'm going to buzz it to a #5 all over at my 12 month mark, to really assess my result. If I puss out, I'll at least bring the length WAY down

Close up direct sunlight shot. Hair greed's got me thinking about a bit more into the temples? What you guys think?

Cutting my hair much shorter in two weeks to have a better assessment. In two weeks I'll have reached the 12 month mark.

Looks great to me man, if it bothers you get a small tune up at the two year mark when everything has settled in terms of hair cycles and final growth spurt etc. with one of the docs who excel at stick and place.

Anyway looking very good.

go dense or go home

Good advice. Yeah this pic WAS taken in most harsh conditions, and inside and in normal lighting it looks like I have a wall of hair in front lol

Really need to sack up and just shave it down to a #5 to get a good look at my result. Decisions... Decisions...

HSRP - who are the docs that excel at the stick and place method with FUE? It seems to me that the top knotch docs aren't that interested in doing small "touch-up" sessions for the obvious reasons - but I think it would be a great ancillary part of a mature practice given the number of people that have had HTs and are constantly either trying to improve results or keep up maintenance etc.

Thanks

Hey man,

That's a very good question.

First of all I should have put IF in capitals as Ernie's hair looks great and he's steady on Fin without any sides which is the perfect restoration case. I don't recommend he do anything until the two-year mark.

For small FUE touchups I like Bisanga and Konior (he being more of a true stick and place master) both have their pros and cons, cost, waiting list etc.

Would really like to add others to that list but those are the ones I have good experience with. I don't think Dr. Maras or Dr. Lupanzula would be a bad choice either - though you won't get stick and place level personalized graft placement - but both allow for partial shaving, have reasonable prices and also solid results.

go dense or go home

Should look good, you have a battle scarred scalp already, so even if you continue to wear your hair short, if the donor wound heals correctly, it shouldn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Pictures are labeled accordingly. Shaved my head today to a #5 all over. Scar is a non-issue, so no pics. What you think???

Definitely not as "dense looking" without the slicked back look, but now I can assess my result with Dr. Rahal.

Your thoughts/opinions? Touch up?? Yes, no, maybe so?... You will NOT hurt my feelings, and chances are if you've seen it, I'm already aware of it too.

Seems a bit "gappy" behind the forelock and behind the hairline (temples) in places -- but this result was a BIG SUCCESS imho.

These are all wet-hair pics. Next post will be dry-hair pics

Thanks HLS2015. That area behind the forelock can easily be hidden with a longer hairstyle - perhaps 1-2 inches in length.

I think it looks pretty darn good, cropped like that style it doesn't appear to have any density issues in my opinion, but I must confess we are all our worst critics, and hair greed is real.

I had three hair transplants to restore my front from a Norwood 3A, two was enough to look good in most instances, but that third one completely took all density issues away when it came to styling or lighting.

It's a personal choice, I find no one scrutinizes ourselves as much as we do ourselves.

This is my current fixation, lol. A 2nd HT to eliminate any and all density concerns (imaginary or real)

Weight the cost and benefit, for me the third was another 1800 grafts, which filled in a couple of trouble spots in the temples etc.

This was on top of 2300 my second time and 2700 my first, so I have around 7000 grafts in my frontal third, but that's what it took for me to have a cosmetically great density.

People on here that think they're gonna get that with one procedure are either misinformed or naive.

Still looks good to me Ernie.

Do you have the need to wear it that short? If not as mentioned I wouldn't do anything until the two-year mark, your transplanted hair cycles are still balancing out including possible final growth spurts etc.

My latest procedure was to go for shorter look to manage my scalp eczema so that's the only reason I did it inlcluding the temple points. Still it only totalled 700 grafts and less than 300 went behind the hairline and frontal third, so if you decide to do a touchup in 2 years time I'm sure you could do it with low graft count.

Will be fun to plan for it yeah!

Ernie,

It looks incredible. However, like someone said here we are our own worst critics.

I say live with it for another year or so, if you still want a touch up after that..... go for it.

But from the pics you posted, doesn't really look like you need one.

Dry pics now. Forgot to do this yesterday like I said I would, sorry...

PS - how's my (untouched) mid-scalp and crown look for age 42 ?? -- would appreciate comments from those who have been around this board and have an experienced opinion. No doubt propecia from age 23/24 until now has helped IMMENSELY.

I see what you mean about wanting to touch up the density now, personally i think your crown is fine, if anything a marginal touch up of the front third ought to be a enough to get you through the rest of your life.
