Regular Member Brockstar Posted January 26, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted January 26, 2016 In the interest in giving back to the forum I figured I would post my updates on the forum. A little history of myself... 29 and starting losing my hair around 22. Got on the minoxidil foam and have been religiously using it twice a day ever since. Ive never seen any new hair growth but, like to thing that its helping me keep what I have . Actually ive never seen any side effects good or bad from rogaine. I also use nizoral 1% twice a week and conditioner on the days in between. I drove up to Dr. Vories location in Charleston SC yesterday from Tampa, Florida. Surgery started at 7am and we finished up around 330 pm with a half hour lunch in the middle. Every 45 minutes or so we took a 10-15 minute break so I could stretch my neck and the Doctors hands. Dr. Vories and his two technicians were very professional and friendly. During surgery the only discomfort was the numbing medication which I would put on par with a bee sting and neck stiffness from laying in the same location. After leaving Dr. Vories office I had around a 3-4 hour drive to my parents place in Carolina Beach where im resting for the next week and a half. While at the office my head was numb the entire time but with in 20 min it started to wear off and I was feeling quite a bit of pain so I stopped at cvs and had the prescription for the pain and sleeping meds filled. Within 30 minutes the pain had subsided. 1st day post op and I have zero pain only itchiness in the donor area and pressure in the for head. I have been placing a ice pack on my forhead (careful not to touch graft area) every couple of hours. Ive been using the saline spray on the recipient area every hour. Overall I feel everything went excellent. My greatest fear is the redness/purplness Ive seen some patients have all the way to 6-7 months out and want to minimize the likelyness at all cost. If anyone has anything they suggest im all ears. The first picture is post op and all the others are from 1 day post op. Thanks!

Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted January 27, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 27, 2016 I like the plan, he kept the hairline low but not too low, still conservative but will allow you to look good as you head in to your 30's and at the same time have some grafts left over for hair loss progression, the grafts seem tightly packed in, I imagine this will be a great result happy growing. Regular Member Brockstar Posted February 8, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 8, 2016 Here's my two week update for anyone who is watching. All of the scabs pretty much came off on day 7 when I showered. Everyday the redness seems to get a little better. I have been using a little Palmer's Jojoba / Vitamin E oil on the recipient and donor areas after I get out of the shower. When rubbing the oil on 10 hairs or so usually fall out. Recipient area has been pretty flakey recently which is quite annoying. I work in a very highly lit area in the airport dealing with 1,000s of people a day but, just figured to hell with it and went back into work early even though my head is pretty goofy looking at the moment. Probably going to shave my whole head down with a #1 after work today. Do you guys think it will look better or worse? I also see quite a few 2's and 3's on the front row of my hairline. Should I be concerned?

I think this is a case of us analyzing our hair way more than anyone else would. If I saw you with this lighting I'd never know you had a HT even at 2 weeks. Quite remarkable - even in recipient area. I wouldn't bother to shave it down unless you wanted to. Maybe once the grafts fall out it will be goofy looking but right now you just look like a normal dude, dude. Jan 2016 - 3800 graft FUT with Dr. Konior NW 5A to 6. Regular Member Brockstar Posted February 24, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 24, 2016 Today marks my 1 month mark. All of the itchiness and dandruffness has subsided. I still have a very slight tenderness in the recipient area. But, nothing I ever think about. Unfortunately, I wasnt one of the lucky ones who didn't shed. I would say Ive lost around 60-75%. I have been shaving my whole head down to a 0. I think that it blends better. As a side note, and I know some people may not agree with this but, I have been using the tanning bed at the gym 2-3 times a week. I checked with Dr. Vories right after the procedure and he said I could tan after 2 weeks. I do think it helps blend the redness a bit. Like everyone else using rogaine does seem to irritate the recipient area and causes more redness.
Senior Member Mick50 Posted February 24, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted February 24, 2016 Jesus man you're braver than me regarding the old tanning bed, better to let nature take it course in my opinion
Senior Member lakes9925 Posted February 24, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted February 24, 2016 the donor area looks a bit spaced, Just wondering how many more grafts would be able to be extracted and still have the option to wear your hair short?? Like everyone else using rogaine does seem to irritate the recipient area and causes more redness. I am surprised on that opinion on the tanning bed. I'd rather be "pink" for 6 weeks and have a bad cosmetic effect for 1.5 months rather than do anything that may cause issues long term (slightly less yield, scalp discoloration). I think people here get over anxious about getting out in the sun for 30 minutes or what not once you hit week 8 or so but full on tanning bed and such I'd be avoiding until month 5-6. But I guess every doctor has a different opinion. Jan 2016 - 3800 graft FUT with Dr. Konior NW 5A to 6. Regular Member Brockstar Posted April 22, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 22, 2016 Just thought I would throw my 3 month update out there for anyone interested in seeing it. I have started to see new growth coming in and more hair sprouting everyday. Opinions?
Regular Member SySperling10 Posted April 25, 2016 Regular Member Share Posted April 25, 2016 Showing great growth for 3 months. If you care, throwing some Caboki or Nanogen would make it look real nice at this stage, there's definitely enough for the fibers to cling to. Senior Member matt3480 Posted April 26, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted April 26, 2016 I also am a bit surprised you were advised that tanning was OK.....no way in heck would I over-expose the area to sun for a solid 6 months after. 2 weeks? Eh.....can't say I've ever heard that is OK. Having redness is a small price to pay versus over-exposure and grafts not growing.

Regular Member Brockstar Posted May 28, 2016 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 28, 2016 Figure I would put my 4 month update online. Had quite an explosion of hair in the last month. The transplanted hair does grow quite a bit quicker than the native hair so ive been doing weekly trim ups myself. I'm hoping the direction of the hair will blend a bit better as it gets longer. Otherwise i'm stoked about my outcome already.
