Senior Member chris39 Posted April 18, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted April 18, 2016 As mentioned earlier in the thread , suffered some shock loss at the donor area . Although you know it's most likely only temporary , there's always that lingering doubt until it subsides . Below are photos of shock loss at 4 weeks post op . Totally resolved itself now , so hopefully a bit of encouragement to anyone else who's concerned .
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted April 18, 2016 Administrators Share Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) Good progress, I experienced shock loss of the recipient and donor area, it got better around 4.5 months, have you discussed the issue with Dr. K? Have you tried applying minixidil to the area, I noticed minoxidil really sped things up in terms of growth for me. Have you tried applying topical finasteride to the area, I noticed minoxidil really sped things up in terms of growth for me. Cheers HT. Shock loss has totally gone now - had the wife do a check of the area the other day and she couldn't even locate the area . I did consult with Dr K at the outset of the shock loss and he pretty much intimated that it was just a case of waiting it out . I've not tried minoxidil as I thought that at my hair loss level the benefits would be negligible . Only thing I'm using is Nizoral shampoo . Will you keep on the Minoxidil ?
Senior Member chris39 Posted May 29, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 29, 2016 Just passed the 5 month mark . I've included photos in different light settings . I've also included a photo of the scar - not the best photo but's it's difficult to find it . Considering where I started from , I'm really happy with the progress to date , and hopefully with a good period left to improve further .I'm hoping that the density across the hairline will improve , but even if it didn't I'd happily live with this . Senior Member chris39 Posted May 29, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 29, 2016 Also , just to mention that this haircut is a number 3 guard at the sides and back . Pretty sure I could get away with a no.2 guard if I tried it , but happy at this length anyway . Just a slight hint of redness remaining at the incision line , but expect this to completely fade over the coming months.

Senior Member chris39 Posted May 30, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted May 30, 2016 It's looking very good. Can you do another ht for the crown? Sorry - misread your comment . Yes , hoping to do another HT around the 12 month mark. I reckon I'll need around 3000 grafts to give a fair coverage to the crown . However , the crown can be a strange beast - sometimes less is more .

Senior Member chris39 Posted July 4, 2016 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2016 Just passed the 6 month mark and I'm pretty happy with the progress so far . Like most people . I've had ups and downs in the post-op period . Some days you feel like the progress isn't as you'd hoped while other days all is right with the world . I've hit a stage now where I almost expect this is the finished reult but need to remember that some people only start showing growth afetr the 6 month mark . If it stayed as it is , I'd still be good with what's been acheived . Anything from here on in is a bonus . When I started out on the HT journey , my initial expectations were wildly over the top considering my level of hair loss . Accordingly , I reassessed what could reasonably be achieved , and to the that end I'm good with things . Perhaps I would have liked the hairline to be a smidgeon lower where it meets the temporal points , but this maybe something I can look at when I have my crown area addressed . I've attched a photo pr-op which is always a good indicator of how things have progressed .

Senior Member HCH Posted July 4, 2016 Senior Member Share Posted July 4, 2016 A few more photo's under different lighting conditions . Hi Chris, Congrats for the new look and great result, you look definitely younger and handsome I have few things to clarify if you don't mind as i am considering Dr. K for an HT. Here is my post if you have any comments. ,http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/183794-hair-transplant-feedback.html 1- Did you take Finasteride pre/ postop? 2- What's your total baldness in square cm including your crown? 3- Did you discuss the long term plan with Dr. K if any additional surgeries would be required after addressing your crown? 4- How many grafts in total do you have in the donor area? 5- Reason why you preferred FUT over FUE so you can avoid the linear scar? 6- is it possible to show us a pic from top with a comb forward wet hair? Cheers
