Regular Member jonnykino Posted October 7, 2012 Regular Member Share Posted October 7, 2012 Hey there. Haven't posted in a while, haven't needed to because I've been pretty happy with my hair. Accepted the fact I have a mature hairline - no thinning, just a more concave, 'V' shaped hairline. That's cool, I'm 22. I've also posted about my crown, and was told I shouldn't worry, that that's fine also. I just have a parting, light hair, and a red scalp. No thinning or loss. Fine with me. I've been to doctors, derms, you name it, and they've said my hair is fine. So anyway, my hair has gotten fairly longer than I usually wear it, and I was speaking to some friends about whether I should just leave it to grow long... not hippy style, just longer than usual. They said I needed it cut, because the sides are thick and my fringe is quite long. Then my friends girlfriend said "get it cut because you're going a bit 'baldy'. Well that's MESSED ME UP GOOD STYLE, and I've started the whole taking pictures of my hair again. SO! As I said, I feel my hairline is fine: So that's not the reason my mates girlfriend said it to me.... but she wouldn't have seen my crown, as I'm taller than her. But that doesn't look 'baldy', does it? HMMMM. It's bugging me, because after all my time posting on forums and going to docs, derms etc, and it's been established there isn't a problem with my hair, this girl says this to me. What do you guy's reckon? Muchas gracias.
Senior Member Shampoo Posted October 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2012 But that doesn't look 'baldy', does it? No way! Does this girl know you are a bit sensitive or concerned about your hair? Because from the pictures I see, no logical person could conclude you have any degree of balding. Maybe she knows about your fears and is just playing upon them. Senior Member Davis91 Posted October 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2012 You might go bald one day. Or you might not. Stopping some anxiety is partly about accepting that there are uncertainties in life. But for now: you and your hair are awesome. I've seen friends with similar "red scalp, blond hair" patterns. You are 22 and have a 100% great head of hair--go out and enjoy life.

Senior Member Cant decide Posted October 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2012 Your hair is fine and that girl is either kidding or just plain rude. I remember when I was 22, any guy that even lost a few strands of hair (and I mean just a few) was made fun of for going bald. Now that I am 40, you rarely hear such comments from your peers unless you are severely bald and even then, much much less. One of the advantages of getting older I guess Anyway, I digress as this is not applicable to you at all. Get off this site and move on with your life.....Obsessing is not healthy. Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted October 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2012 Currently, I see no signs of androgenic alopecia. I would monitor and catch it early (if and when it does occur), but for now, you are just fine! Bill - Seemiller
I find it quite interesting how many women find it acceptable to comment about a guy's hair loss when they in turn would be mortified if someone commented about their weight. It's not acceptable to come out and call someone fat and it's not acceptable to point out someone's hair loss. Some people really have no class. Jonnykinno, Your case is unique because your hair is showing no signs of thinning. In fact, most guys, even guys like me who has been through 4 hair transplants would case to have hair as thick and dense as yours. In my opinion, I would just write it off as an ignorant comment and don't spend any extra time thinking about it. If she does comment again, I suggest pointing out how rude her comments are and that you're certain she wouldn't like it if someone pointed out her flaws. Depending on how comfortable you are talking about it, you could even tell her that she doesn't know what she's talking about since you've been to hair loss specialists and you don't have a hair loss problem. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member s2thoudriver Posted October 9, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted October 9, 2012 One thing you might want to consider here is the fact that she could be attracted to you. Women (and men) often use a put down to someone to generate a reaction. It's a test to see how sensitive someone is and whether they are concerned about what someone thinks of them. If she said "you are really hot and have gorgeous hair", you'd just thing 'nice compliment, thanks' and shrug it off. So by paying you a negative, it's made you think about her and think about yourself in a slightly more negative way. People also often do this when they think someone is out of their league, as it makes them feel better and brings their potential new partner down a peg to their level. End of the day, don't worry about it, you have great hair (and will be the envy of most on here), so forget about the comment and reply with something cheeky. I'm only 5ft 7" and women sometimes say "aren't you short". It used to bother me but now just reply with something funny or cheeky like "makes no difference when you are horizontal though does it?" or "I'm just saving you from getting neck ache". Just act un-phased by it (and don't be phased by it) Hope this helps in some way Rob 2800 FUE, Istanbul

Senior Member bonkerstonker Posted October 23, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted October 23, 2012 IMO she's seen a bit of scalp because you have a crazy swirl in your crown and assumed you were going bald when it's just how your crown parts as it swirls quite big also the fact that your scalp is red will have brought attention to it but I don't think you've lost any hair and highly doubt any of your hairs have started to miniturise!! Make sure she knows when she puts weight on it will teach her a lesson about manners!! Bonkerstonker! http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=1977 Update I'm now on 12200 Grafts, hair loss has been a thing of my past for years. Regular Member jonnykino Posted November 2, 2012 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 2, 2012 Hey all. Sorry for the long response, been bogged down with work. So yeah, apparently she said it because, when am under bright lights and my hair is wet, you can see scalp on top, and because my scalp is red. I mean, I've noticed it too when I get out the shower in specific lighting conditions, but I figured it was normal. Now I've been told that, I keep thinking diffuse thinning, but am not sure whether the fact you can see scalp when hair is wet under certain lights means it's that? Thanks for the replies everyone, I appreciate it a lot.
Raphael84
Jonny, When everybodies hair is wet after the shower, you can see scalp. Often in normal lighting situations and definitely under bright lights. This is also true for females with shorter hair. Forget diffuse thinning. You have no thinning or loss. Try and get past this, because there is nothing here. Relax! Senior Member TomCruise Posted November 14, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted November 14, 2012 your hair looks better than many guys, but your girlfriend may have done you a favor. your hair line is not straight across in the corners and is see through in the vertex so i do see some maturation or possible loss. she is seeing it up close so at least you are aware of the issue if and when it progresses.
