I don't get excited and I don't get stressed. Well, til now. I have acid reflux and haven't slept well in a least a week and probably more. Worries: I think what bothers me is the permanent and life-long commitment. I worry about things that I can't change, like loosing my job and needing another ht, and looking stupid because I can't afford to fix it. Like the bottom dropping out and loosing a bunch of hair and not being able to keep up. Needing more grafts than estimated next week. "Looking" like I have had a transplant (this is probably my biggest concern). I don't worry about it now, because of who my doctor is, I worry about 4 years from now and looking like I have had an HT because of advanced loss. I was watching "Breaking Bad" and Saul, the lawyer has a bad transplant, and I could not take my eyes off of it. I don't want to be that guy. I guess all of these worries and more are normal. I will be glad to have it behind me as the anticipation has been worse than my hair loss by far. It is normal and I went through the same thing except it didn't hit me till I was driving up to Vancouver from Seattle the night before surgery. I almost backed out headed back south because I was amped up big time so I understand. The main reasons why an HT will look unnatural is from poor planning and just plain old bad work. Had you chosen a doctor from Getyourhairhere.com then I could understand but you're going to a quality doc. If you lose more hair you won't look like a circus act because the work itself will look natural. You may not like it, but it will not look unusual to those around you. I don't think you'll be "that guy". I am sitting here writing after my first day of 1000 FUE grafts that yielded 2582 hairs in the front of my head. Tomorrow I have another 1000 hairs transplanted from the sides to go to the back of the crown area. I will be posting pics in about a weeks time so I wish you well on your surgery Spanker. Oh by the way. I can recommend Mastic Gum 500mcgs for a sensitive stomach. I think it is easy to get in USA and a natural product. Really calms the stomach. You did it the right way, you did your research and chose a great surgeon. I dont think you will take a tumble, you have a great head of hair and even if you thin some more i think you will always have enough in the donar bank to cover your needs. Some may recall that I've said a couple of times that I literally had to keep myself from jumping out of the chair on surgery day and running away. Pros and cons were swirling through my head and I was pretty nervous right up until that first cut to remove the strip. Once that began, I completely calmed down and I knew as I was all in because there was no going back. The only thing I could think to compare it to was getting tattooed.for the first time. Same idea. Once the process starts, you know you have made a lifelong commitment and all your second guessing will become a thing of the past. You've made the right decision for you, I have no doubt. It would have been something I don't know that I could have dealt with very well. I came REALLY close to seeing some hack job in AL that still does minis. Fortunately I have total confidence in Dr. K, his staff, and his follow up care, so that is one worry that I have not had to deal with. I am a picky person and that is why I did so much research. Because everyone has different needs like FUT v FUE, small sessions, mega session, implanting in existing hair and v no hair, etc., it is hard to say that there is one top doc. For me, and my specific case, Dr. K is the top doc and I feel like I am leaving little to luck or trust by choosing him. While there are many acceptable doctors, through all of my time on here, for reasons of technical skill, artistry, ethics, or just personality, the list of doctors that I would actually let perform surgery on my is 7 doctors that equal only 5 clinics. wish you all the best spanker i think you will get awesome result with dr konior Thanks dingdong. It's normal to get nervous. I was so cocky weeks/days before my third transplant (been there, done that) but then the night before I suddenly got more nervous than I did with my first transplant. I don't know where that came from. Yes, Saul from Breaking Bad. I've been digging that show lately myself. And Saul is hilarious. The bad transplant totally works for that character. I don't think Saul went to Dr. Konior. Just sayin'. The sooner you're in the chair the sooner you get the hairline you've been pinning after for years, spending countless hours of your life on forums looking at guys hairlines and transplants when you should be out in bars chatting up girls, driving a cabriolet without a worry in world about what way the winds blowing or enjoying any number of things that just seem less enjoyable when you're paranoid about your hair.
