NorthAmericanPhysician,

Thank you for sharing this case. The work looks extremely refined, and I hope this gentleman is thrilled with the natural coverage and excellent scar. Nicely done.

I think I liked his hair better before. Not sure why.

I see what you are saying, in the first set of pics I kinda thought he had a " cool " balding pattern, however, the 15 months look much better to me!! I think he just needed a style!!

It looks damp in the 15 month pics - probably why it appears thinner. Killer scar though.

Yes. It's true. He returned to the office just after having showered. While it's nice to see patients clean, dampened hair doesn't have quite the full appearance. He is, however, thrilled to have something new there to style!

This patient returned 6 months after a second session of 2,546 FU focused on strengthening the temples and mid scalp as well as covering areas of future loss. At 6 months, the early growth can be most appreciated in his temples.

The video above starts with his consultation and continues to show his current appearance after a total of 4,937 grafts. More to come!

This patient returned to see Dr. Wesley about three years after his initial consultation. At this time, the patient's hair transformation was essentially complete...

An updated video montage of his transformation can be viewed below:

Thanks, Rootz. It seems a little counterintuitive, but scars after having subsequent surgeries can often be even finer than they are after the first session. It's generally the mastoid region (about two inches behind and just above the ears) that are most challenging to maintain a fine donor scar. This is also generally the region with greatest tension and least scalp laxity. For this reason, patients are often encouraged to focus their preoperative scalp massages specifically in the mastoid region.
