stellar
Got my transplant done on Nov 8th 2010 by Dr. Rahal (in Ottawa). Grafts details: Total grafts: 6228 1’s – 835 2’s – 3508 3’s – 1792 4’s – 93 Total hairs: 13599 The entire procedure went from 6h45am until around 7pm which I understand is relatively fast for such a large number of grafts. The procedure itself was long but relatively painless (thank you local anesthetic) although my neck got pretty sore after so much time laying back. But the staff was realy nice and accomodating so overall I had a very positive experience. I brought two DVDs to pass time but ended up being too dizzy to complete the second one. The first night was not so good and I didn't manage to get any sleep. It was the dizziness and neausea which kept me awake more than the actual pain. (I ended up vomiting several times during the night.) The fact that you can't lay down to sleep didn't help either. I felt much better the next day and went for a checkup. They removed the bandages and things look okay but now the face swelling started. After 2 days the pain is almost gone and I don't need painkillers anymore. Went to see Dr Rahal for another follow up and it looks like the healing process is going fine so far. Going back on Friday for another checkup. In the meantime, it's mainly a matter of resting (at a 45 degree angle), doing the proper hair washing steps and taking the medication. From my conversations with Dr. Rahal over the years I have found him to be a good guy which makes me happy to say, welcome to the 6000 club. Dr. Hasson agrees and said the work looks quite good. stellar
Hi folks, It's been 10 days and I got a checkup with Dr. Rahal today. He told me that things are looking very good and on track. Getting the sutures removed next Monday and I'm really looking forward to this milestone. I will post updated pictures when I have some.
stellar
Hi myeddula51, In terms of scalp exercices, I indeed performed the ones suggested by Dr. Rahal almost religiously. (15 min for the back and 15 min for the sides twice a day) It took an hour of my life every day for almost a month, but looks like it was very beneficial. stellar
It's been a bit more than 3 weeks and here are some pictures taken earlier today. As you can see, as expected, lots of the hairs (and scabs) have fallen off by now. Dr. Rahal said that everything looks good so now it's really just a matter of waiting. Really looking forward to see how things progress over the next months!

Senior Member TheEmperor Posted December 3, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2010 This is going to be a fantastic result. Not only did he get a high graft count, but most of the grafts were 2+ hairs. I had a similar number of grafts over two procedures and a much higher % of 1s. Also the hairline looks very good to me. Symmetrical and somewhat broad/rounded at the front. The hairline does not come to a point like mine does. Dr Rahal actually said that if there were a more typical ratio then the higher number of single hair units could've made this a 7000 graft case. I am a patient and representative of Dr Rahal. Senior Member TC17 Posted December 3, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted December 3, 2010 Very impressive. What's the deal with pictures 13 and 15? Is it just a lighting difference? You look much balder in 13 than you did in 15. Also, can you post some side shots? The one of you post op seems to show an already extremely thin scar, and I'm curious to see how it's coming along after such a large session. I have little doubt that this will turn into another outstanding example of Dr. Rahal's terrific work.
stellar
> What's the deal with pictures 13 and 15? Is it just a lighting difference? > You look much balder in 13 than you did in 15. Yeah, I think 15 is more representative than 13. As you said, the lighting in 13 makes it looks like I was almost completely bald. > Also, can you post some side shots? The one of you post op seems > to show an already extremely thin scar, and I'm curious to see how it's > coming along after such a large session. I have attached two pictures of the scar I just took.
