  1. Hi people, I've been searching for herbal supplements, oils, and topical substances that might help hair growth, and here is a list of what I've found legitimately useful considering to the sources that promoted them(not that I have verified it): Polygonum Multiflorum (Chinese herb used since ancient times for hair loss) Aloe Vera Gel(I use it and at least it gives a silkier appearance to it) Cod Fish liver oil(I use it and seems to be giving strength and silk appearnce) Dog food on scalp(I heard this crazy home-remedy needs some extra preparation (dilute it in water), sounds plausible considering all the nutrients it must contain in order to completely nourish a dog) Lavender oil Olive oil If any of you have any comments regarding these suggestions, by all means, share your views.
  2. I take one .25 mg capsule a day and it does wonders not only to the hair appearance, but to the respiratory system(I had asthma attacks, now they are gone).
  3. Aloe Vera, Dog food, olive oil. I've heard they help to 'nurture' the scalp.
  4. It is not a promotion if you share the information right here, without promises of full refunds and commercial gibberish.
  5. Thanks for the information. Sexual side-effects seem almost like a joke compared to prostate cancer and the Multiple Sclerosis association. You are giving this community a great service. Thanks again.
  6. In which case a funding conflict of interest does not affect results?
  7. Yes, "%0.7 of patients had side-effects" sounds like fairy tales to me. Perhaps there's something in the wording that we are not understanding.
  8. Amazing. What happens after the patient has reached such great results? Will he rest from the finasteride regimen or will he continue(and why)?
  9. Its no hidden agenda that pharmaceutical companies are owned by business men, and business men will seek even immoral ways to make money out of the pockets of their 'patients'. The problem here, is that you make it sound as if it were intentional, when it clearly isn't. Minoxidil and Finasteride are medications that help grow hair, the sexual side-effects, are side-effects, I don't believe the chemists at Pfizer or Merk were having a great time scheming a hair-loss drug that would help their company sell more impotence drug as well. That's paranoia. Business men will sell you their virgin daughters if it sells high. But I think that doctors and chemists have higher moral values and will not succumb so easily to create an intentional sexually debilitating drug. There are exceptions though, like the AIDs chemists... but that's another story.
  10. Well, if you are Norwood 6, it is already too late to ingest finasteride or pour minoxidil, so hair transplant is all you have left. Another solution is shaving your head all together and taking some sun, it doesn't look bad. Women that care more about your receding hair rather than your personality or other physical attributes are probably not worth your time anyway. I do understand that infatuation is helped with good looks, and having hair helps the majority of times, but I firmly believe that confidence does not come from a full hair line nor blue eyes nor bulky muscles; but rather from a positive attitude. Finasteride doesn't have as much side effects taken with less dosages and less frequently. I'd still consult a doctor, if you are so inclined on taking it. All you can do is try, once you try hard and it doesn't work, or the side-effects are not worth it, then at least you can be happy that you did everything you could. If I am unable to maintain the regimen for any reason, I'd simply shave and continue exercising, taking the sun, eating fruits and vegetables abundantly, in other words: having a healthy life.
  11. I have no idea, perhaps it works. I know that Aloe Vera helps keeping the scalp healthy.
  12. Yes it does. Prolonged Anaerobic exercise combined with aerobic exercise does that trick(to reduce testosterone levels). " Studies conducted on endurance athletes who exercise for long stretches of time at once were shown to have testosterone levels up to 85% lower than people who do not perform endurance exercises. Article Source: Increasing Testosterone Through Exercise " Another interesting article
  13. From my experience and what I've read, Minoxidil helps to maintain the small thin hairs , but not the full grown hair.
  14. No, they don't regrow if stress caused Male Pattern Baldness. There are some scientific studies on this, I don't remember where I read it, I guess a search engine might answer that for you. Then a great solution would be to hinder as much stress as possible. Stress is a normal hormonal response to difficult situations, these in the past were presented as wolves rounding a tribe and menacing to eat their food or them, now it is your boss telling you the job was mediocre even though you tried your hardest, if that happens every now and then, no problem, the body can deal with that, but given that our idiotic society demands us to work 40 hours a week, it is understandable that humans are supporting unprecedented levels of cortisol, hence unprecedented levels of Male Pattern Baldness in young ages. The best you can do is sleep well, and jog and lift weights everyday (I underline everyday because it's been scientifically studied that males reduce testosterone levels for the next 24 hours after intense physical exercise). You don't know whether you suffer from Male Pattern Baldness or not, and you have not updated pictures of your crown and hairline, so there's no way we can help you out. You have no idea of what you are talking about. People hear take Finasteride because they want to preserve their looks, but side effects are nasty and nobody in their sane judgment would ever want them. It's like wanting to speed up anemia by eating little just to see if a nutrition supplement works. Again, no new pictures provided(of all the head, in at least 5 different angles), hard to give advice.
  15. Minoxidil does help, but without some minimal DHT hindrance, it is barely noticeable.
  16. I wouldn't worry. How about a picture of the crown. By the way, stress can trigger Male Pattern baldness at much younger age, so don't stress too much over whether you are loosing hair or not...
  17. It is expected to shed some hair at the beginning of the treatment, I did not notice it in me though.
  18. No Minoxidil sideffects to me, although I've lately experienced like perks in my head, which is not something I'd describe as pain but really worries me. I will consult my doctor for that issue, as it might be a cod oil supplement(although it is far bellow the recommended daily dose: 0.5 grams everyday) or propecia(finasteride 0.25 mg ever 3 days)
  19. Do not dose yourself with any drug unless you have consulted an expert. I'd say just go to a dermatologist and seek his advice. You guys in Canada have universal healthcare, which is a blessing. That said if you dermatologist or hair restoration expert determines you are suffering from MPB, then by all means the sooner you take finasteride orally and minoxidil topically the better. But I'd start with very low dosages of finasteride like 0.25 mg every 3 days(That's what I am on now) to avoid side effects the most. Also going bald starting at one's 40's is something but at one's 20's is much more traumatic, so I understand us that aren't even in their 30's trying to preserve their young looks. I also know that some girls like bald men, they just happen to be scarce. Much like intellectual women. I get turned on by women reading books rather than showing off their titties for example, but that's another subject matter. By the way, if you are just starting to notice MPB, consider reducing sources of stress; like deprivation of sleep, healthy food and even a girlfriend(yeah, loneliness can get stressful). I'd say being persistent and not caring about being rejected is a good way dealing with social-acceptance anxiety. Physical exercise, especially anaerobic(running, biking) combined with aerobic exercise(explosive weight lifting, sprint, martial arts combats) every other day is a great way of reducing testosterone levels.
  20. Basically none. I do however, exercise every day, that greatly reduces testosterone levels.
  21. I reduced the finasteride dosage to 0.25mg, every 3 days.
