I always used Mederma and natural Vit E oil while taking a shot of AlaVera juice during my procedures. This really reduce any raising or scaring as well sped up the healing. Jotronic correct if I'm wrong, but I think H/W does a unique strip closure technique that was exclusive at one time. Simply answer is every company's FSA benefits are different--most are similar but some variance. Some co. allow Lasik-- good friends have done this. As far as other costmetic procedures it varies-- most will not but a few including my Dads company will allow it to be paid for HTs-- rare but some do. If company offers you to just submit reciept for direct payment reimbursement it might be easier to get paid versus direct payment. Call your benefits manager of your company. Your talking about some great surgeons-- Shapiro and both H/W. You can not go wrong with either. I think Shapiro does great natural hairline work. Hasson has some awesome full density resutls with mega sessions (if you have lots of balding). So depending on your needs, then all things being equal the final (and only time it should be a factor) would be location and costs. Best of luck as both will give you great results. Welcome to the site. Like you I had several HT back in the early 90's that were done by one of the best in the business before he retired in mid 90's (Dr Norwood). Absolutely buy the Proscar 5mg and split into 4ths with a pill splitter-- TONS cheaper than Propecia. SHOP AROUND AND SHOP AROUND!!! Pharmacies charge different prices and depending on time of year, inventory stock, special pharmacia bonus contest, ect-- they can vary WIDELY! In todays cut throat money hungry counterfit rings, you can not tell real from fakes on the good counterfits (bad ones easy to tell). Packaging are same, you have to look at pills them self and compare-- bad counterfits the numbers or letters on pills are not "laser" in put flaw stamped. If you have a option then shaving is the best for the physician and (quickest for them as well especially if you are doing a mega session) If you are doing a 1500-2000 graft session the burden is not so great as a 4,000 mega session. I think the results is the same regardless, the surgeons prefer shaved because it is the fastest for them and easiest. Myself, I have a professional elite career where this was impossible-- so ALL of my surgeries I did NOT shave my hair. What I did was cut it short in the areas of HT (not back as I left longer to cover staples). However I never had a procedure greater than 2,100. Ive used MSM on a regular basis for 5 yrs. It helps with "health" of hair/nails/skin as well as acts somewhat as an natural anti-inflamitory which might help speed up healing by limited the swelling a little. I take the MSM with Glucosomine 1500mg pill. It is a good natural supplement that we do not get much of in our daily diet. As far as speeding up dormant process, some research has been done with using Rogain on recipent area post op which prevents or reduces dormant period. I did this on my last procedure with Ron Shapiro and my hairs never went dormant or fell out-- and regrowth was a lot faster than previous surgeries. Creatine supplements either pill or powder form, mono or combo with ATP/Glugosime ect. DOESNT NOT have anything to do with HL. It does not affect DHT or Test. levels. I wouldnt use body hair for total HT-- maybe the temple region and very 1-2mm of a hairline at most. From my various research the last year, donor closure and scar reductions seem to be the most evaluated improvement techniques-- to minize donor scarring with various disection and closure techniques and Scar reductions from previous Linear surgery. As far as mid-long term research-- Hair Farming and Hair Multiplication/Duplication is ongoing as is Hair Cloning. Several trials have included forearm implantation that have taken but multiple implants are being evaluated as well as scalp implants with rejection factors.
