  1. Hi, These were taken years ago, there the only pre/post HT pics I have, all the post op pics were taking as the HT was still maturing. Dr Rahal was my doc. This is all depressing thinking of balding behind the HT area and having to remove the HT, I'm very stressed over it. I have been toying with the idea of taking a micro dose of fin as I can't see any other solution to holding onto the hair but I don't want to be taking fin indefinately either. http://s339.photobucket.com/user/con_080/library/?sort=3&page=1
  2. Hi, I had a HT done by a top surgeon 6 years ago, around 2400 gfts in the hairline and temples, Recently I've stopped taking fin to maintain the native hair so eventually it will start receding behind the HT at the front so expect to remove the HT eventually. I'm thinking of using laser hair removal, this suits me as I could have it done near-by. Is laser hair removal sufficient? Also after I remove the hair transplant will there be any scars on the recipient area from the HT procedure? Will that part of my head match the rest? Thanks
  3. Hi thanks for the reply, I've been off the fin for about a month now. You mentioned an external DHT inhibiting cream? Sounds interesting I'm not familiar with it, I tried Rogaine years ago and didn't like it. I was looking at saw palmetto and might give it a try, i've also been taking biotin for a while.
  4. Hey guys thought i'd let you know whats been going on lately concerning my hair. I started taking fin in 2007 the only side effects i knew about were mainly ED, I tried taking fin for a year and it was fine so in 2008 i had a successful HT. I was around a norwood 3v and had my hair restored to what looks like a full head of hair. I never looked back, best money i ever spent i would say to myself. Gave me a new lease of life, self confidence, made me feel more comfortable, no more anxiety about going bald etc etc. About a year ago i became aware of the more serious side effects of Propecia and that has made me more and more concerned since, because of related family ilness, and in general. I don't want to take this med anymore on the other hand i don't want to go bald, i need the hair. This dilemma is making me feel unstable, its all i think about lately. Its like simulated manic depression you think to your self "I can't take this med anymore" = despair, depression, anxiety about going bald etc then i feel mad and say " i'll just take less or something" = you feel elated, happy, but then i just start thinking this med is too scary, then back to despair over going bald again. Lately I've had no appetite, I can't sleep, I'm in a bad mood, my thoughts are going non stop about what to do. Like many on here they don't want to take it but they do, and i know nobody can tell you to take it or not take it. Its like going bald a second time is a lot harder then the first because you've been on this journey and thought somehow you've done it, solved your hairless problem. Either decision is very hard, but I don't want to take this med thats the reason i'm in this dilemma. I work part time and enjoy the job, the other day i was casually wearing a baseball hat and was told no hat. So if i go the non fin route I'll definetly need a hat to feel comfortable in the job. I just thought I'd share what's been happening. Having hair again has made such a difference in my life and going back down that road is hard to cope with.
  5. Hi, I had a ht in the front a few years ago about 2400 gfts. For the last few months i've been experiencing hair loss, it started after my epilepsy medication Epilim was increased, some ht hairs have fallen out i'd say, now I no longer take Epilim, Appartently hair may grow back after stopping the medication. My question is do any transplanted hairs that fell out have the same potential to grow back like all the natural hairs? Thanks
  6. Hi, This something i was thinking about lately and I was wanting to get your guys opinions on this, i did a quick google got a couple of quotes.. "To my knowledge there has never been any evidence linking the use of Propecia and the development of Prostate Cancer. There was a recent study that followed a large group of men taking Propecia for several years. The study showed that in addition to the slowing down of hair loss, men taking Propecia had a lower incidence of BPH (Benign Prostate Hypertrophy) and a lower rate of Prostate Cancer than the general population. However the few people who did develop Prostate Cancer had higher grades of Cancer. The authors reasoning for this is that Propecia helps to keep the Prostate gland smaller which in turn leads to a lower rate of Benign Prostate Hypertrophy (enlargement) converting to Prostate Cancer. For those patients whose predisposition for developing Cancer was so strong (higher grade of Cancer) the Propecia had no effect on them." "The one thing to be aware of is Propecia® can lower the PSA in male adults. This is a blood test that is used to screen for prostate cancer in older men, usually above 50 years old. The test is still just as accurate in men on Propecia®." ( kinda sounds like there contradicting them selves there" ...So it sounds like if your taking Propecia it can be harder to screen for prostate cancer. What do you think?
  7. Hi, No i don't have a prescription for Propecia as the FDA haven't approved it here in Ireland, so you usually have to order online. Thanks
  8. Hi, I bought 90 finasteride tabs from 4rx.com a few weeks ago and today i received a letter saying the "letter packet was examined by customs & excise in Dublin and found to have prescription only medicinal products inside, the medicines board have detained part/all of the consignment and will be in touch shortly". Dose this mean I'm in trouble with customs? On the other side of the letter it mentions "...the said goods being liable to forfeiture under the Customs Consolidation Act." Theres also a phone number to call. I wonder why they said "will be in touch shortly?" You'd think you'd just loose the finasteride, i hope i don't have to go to court and have to explain there hair loss drugs etc etc. What do you think? Cheers
  9. Hi, thanks yes i'm very happy with the result
  10. heres a pic from the side showing how thin it looks. But i'm not complaining i'm very happy with the result considering. http://i339.photobucket.com/al...n_080/P1010034_1.jpg the journey has been emotional all in all if ya get me hahaha but well worth it.
  11. hey guys, new pic styled http://i339.photobucket.com/al..._080/hairlinenew.jpg lookin good!
  12. Hi, i'm 12mths into my ht and still have a lot of fizzy hair and was wondering if anyone knows from experience how long it takes to become like the native hair? Is it likely to stay fizzy? Thanks
  13. hey thanks, I took a couple of pics earlier inside with flash i think this one looks pretty natural http://i339.photobucket.com/al...rlineinsideflash.jpg The next picture came out extra bright so i'm not sure about this one http://i339.photobucket.com/al...80/hairlineflash.jpg ?
  14. Hahahaha hi, heres some pre ht pics which should giv ya a rough idea of the way my hairline looked. I had about 2500 gfts which re-established the hairline and filled in the temples slightly. I was given an age appropriate hairline. I did also mention that i didn't want the 'wall of hair' look at the hairline and spoke about a softer hairline which i agree looks a lot more natural. In a way its so long since i had a hair-line i've forgotton what one looks like. http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n448/con_080/2.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n448/con_080/3.jpg http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n448/con_080/1.jpg But yeah the new hairline looks natural when i hold my hair back and really frames my face good. It was when i looked through the hairline from the side during certain light it can seem very sparse. But maybe this is just me, now im feeling more confident after posting pics, soon i'll get a new more appropriate hairstyle so my hair is more stylable and i can really enjoy the result. If my density holds up in the donar area maybe i could get a second pass down the road if i want.
  15. thanks, its always tricky though rating a ht from a photograph. You really need to see one in the flesh to see what its really like. This is why a lot of folk can be naive about what to expect because they've seen so many pics as opposed to checking one out in the flesh in detail. Mine is very good but i could do with another pass to get more density and i assume the majority of folk who had a similar procedure usually require at least a 2nd pass. Regarding the hairline its also a big help if ya have some native hair at the start of the hairline lets say the peak at the center, this really helps blend and introduce the ht into the hairline helping it look more natural. Although in my case those native hairs seem to be miniturizing and falling out despite that i'm using finasteride and rogaine.
