  1. Nice! I feel better knowing am not the only 1 who dislikes planes-) last time i was flying was in 2004 , it was terrible, air sickness was so extreme for me, i never flied again. It might sound weird but in my 40+ yrs of existance i only been on plane 3 times.
  2. Yep, i will stay there for 4 days after & will drive 300 miles only then take a day break in hotel, then next day resume trip back-)
  3. Yes, good point! I will be as careful as possible.
  4. My surgery is in a month, the clinic is about 600 miles from me, is it a good idea to take a roadtrip there or book a fly? If i drive, i plan to not drive straight 600 miles, but have a 1 day stay in hotel 300 miles half way. I am prone to air sickness, which is why i wish to either drive or take Amtrak if possible.
  5. It is very normal to be a bit nervous, hovewer, seems your worry is more about FUT, i had that worry as well which is why i decided to chose FUE doctor instead. My surgery is in June & i feel confident in decision. Its a personal choice as to why i selected FUE, if your worry is overpowering, i think you should not rush & do more research, the scar will be permanent, there is no going back.
  6. HT is definetly a lottery, some win some lose, there was another post few days ago he had almost 5k grafts over 2 yr course with dr Bloxham & also had subpar result. That is why it is best to only consider ht when all else fails & age is above 40 so if anything goes wrong you can learn to accept it .
  7. There is nothing worth while in NY. It's is a niche market area for small graft work for a very high $. If you are above NW4, look elsewhere, this forum has a list of recommended docs nationwide.
  8. Hi, sorry to see such happen, please clarify, did you have 2 futs with them within 2 yr period? It seems 1st one on crown did not produce density within a year but you decided to go for 2nd in front region?
  9. For now yes, what is your age? The crown shows signs that in may drop to NW6 in future so if you are not on medication & under 40, make sure they don't get too close to unsafe zone when harvesting. With such pattern hair loss, if you are young patient FUT would be more ideal.
  10. Good plan! I strongly believe that HT should never be done if donor is questionable. If it shows any sign of thinning, retrograde etc, that should be a wrap. I seen some utube videos where some docs recommend exosomes or some PrP on donor , but i don't think its ethical. There is no cure for poor donor. Once ht fails they will say 'oh well, we tried .' HT in general has risks, but with poor donor its almost certain 1 way ticket to failure.
  11. Graft amount can also vary by size of scalp, some have smaller head, 3k might me more than enough , even if frontal 3rd is completely empty.
  12. Same can be said about Tattoo artists, good ones have few years wait time & charge over $350 an hour, probably even more now.
  13. Sorry about your situation. As others have suggested, shaving is the best way. Looks solid NW7 with thinning even in the safest of donor area. Its a wrap, no question. Any doc who promises you they can do surgery should be stripped of their license immediatly.
  14. The good news is you have enough hair on top to use Toppik, finasteride can help stabilize or slow down further loss, if you are ok with taking it. The overharvested donor area would require a very professuinal surgen who can fix it with body hair.
  15. Hi, was wondering if anyone here had recently FUE with Dr Vories, does he still do entire procedure himslef? I don't see many patient reviews which are recent.
  16. 12 months is more than enough time to gauge outcome, inmo 3 things could have happened, poor graft survival, without pics hard to say for sure, another thing, balding area was too wide , & set grafts were not enough or spaced too far apart. Finaly, native hair progressed falling. Pics will tell full story pre & post op.
  17. I don't know how any doctor can possibly recommend anything with these pics, hair needs to be longer, not being sarcasric, just facts-)
  18. Yeah, not sure why they kicked in after 2 yrs, but they resolved shortly after. Minoxidil worked well for me, but i developed skin conditiin which i think is from it. I slowly lost most of the top, but remeber, i was able to hide it with Toppik for very many yrs. Now that my hair loss pattern is mostly stable i do microneedling 1x a week. I am ready for HT.
  19. I was on fin for 2 yrs, it regrew my hair, hiwever i did start noticng sides & had to discintinue it. I was on minixidil for 10 yrs it kind worked, slowed the loss , i was getting away with Toppik till about 4 yrs ago, no longer covers my NW6, so just now i booked HT in June for 5k grafts, had in person consult with 1 doc, but decided to go with the other who does FUE.
  20. Any respected surgen will not do ht at this age & stage. I remember back in 2009 when i noticed diffused thinning on midscalp i immediatly went to top doc in hopes of HT, i was 28, he said no way i will do ht at this early stage of diffuse pattern wiithout you being on meds for few yrs, gave me fin prescription & sent me packing. Glad he did.
  21. In my opinion NY is very limited in surgens. Cost to quality is not optimal. Bernstein is good but he is mostly known for smaller graft work & is very expensive. Bloxham is ok but mostly does FUT. Also, i rarely see NY doctors doing temple area reconstructions, most just do conservatuve V shape hairline. But maybe it appeals to you.
  22. I think its best to research those who specialize in FUE exlusivly for best results, (if you are set for FUE only). I mean, it's like going to a restaurant that specializes in pasta & ordering foreign cousine. Sure they can make it, charge you double for it, & who knows if it will be same as place that only prepares that type of food.
  23. Like million $ man used to say 'everyone got the price' , pretty sure for right cash amoumt any top doc will move you up in line.
