  3. This patient had a total of 2,041 grafts done over one session with Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) method using the ARTAS robotics. The grafts were planted in the following areas: Hairline, 400 grafts Frontal Scalp, 400 grafts Crown, 1241 grafts Photos shown below are pre op, and 8 months post op.
  4. Overview: 2623 graft FUE with Dr. Hasson on December 19, 2016. I am 27 years old and wanted to share my experience start to finish with Dr. Hasson from Hasson & Wong. Here is the graft breakdown of the surgery: 1's - 432 2's - 1642 3/4's - 549 Transcetion Rate 1% Background: I have always been pretty vain about my hair and noticed thinning when I was 19/20. I didn't do much about it other than take longer to style my hair to make sure every hair was "perfect". 2012 I got a consultation done with a hair loss institute and ended up buying a laser comb and starting taking Continuite by Ross Shampoo/conditioner. I used the comb 3/week 20 minutes at a time and even introduced a DHT blocker with a massager about a year later. This seemed to slow thinning down a bit and it seemed like I was maintaining fairly well. For those out here I am sure you are familiar with becoming obsessed about your hair, constantly checking the mirror and heaven forbid someone touches it playfully! It consumed my thoughts every time I had to get ready I would take extra time and I just started to wear hats as often as I could when I worked out or went out. Not that it was that bad but just to put my "head" at ease. None of my friends or even girlfriend at the time knew that I was that vain about it because it didn't seem that bad as neither of them really ever commented on it that I was losing my hair. But I knew Of course you get jealous for every man that walks by on the street or friends that have awesome hairlines and flowy hair. About 2 years ago I added in "Hair Essentials" by natural wellbeing to the mix and 1.5 years ago I took up rogaine, the shedding phase sucked! We all know how it goes, the more you stress about it the more you seemingly lose, but the more you lose the more you stress - vicious cycle. I also hated putting rogaine in my toiletree bag knowing that my friends could see it any time. Also applying it I didn't like as it is tough to style with it and a pain if you are having someone over late and need to apply at night. My barber who I had been to for years knew of my situation and she would do her best to cut my hair appropriately. For example my left side is stronger so she would let that grow out so that I could essentially comb it over and into the other hairs when I styled it. The illusions worked! As long as I didn't have to go swimming, sweat working out profusely or be in the wind. Long story short- I knew I didn't want to keep spending all the time & money on consumables to AT BEST maintain what I was have or slow it down. Cue my research for hair transplant, which is something I joked about with my cousin in the past that we would have to resort to (but always remained a joke). Earlier in 2016 I met with Doug and Dr. Wong and was initially quoted 1000-1200 grafts (because I had my hair styled I even fooled them!). After researching proscar I got on it in about March 2016 with no side affects even though I let my mind question it at times. I considered a HT but had to do more due diligence to see if Hasson & Wong was right for me and at the time they were still a little more fresh to it as they had changed a couple things with it. Mid-2016 I met again with much more research done and they answered my countless questions. I was quoted for 2,000 grafts by Dr. Wong. Still being cautious I went back and met with them yet again and this time was quoted 2,500 by Dr. Hasson (I didn't style my hair). I knew that if I didn't do a hair transplant there was no "end in sight" to get better and going with one of the best places in the world helped keep my mind at ease in regards to the outcome I would get. Now at 27 it isn't easy to come up with cash for a 2,500 graft surgery but really money is nothing compared to putting my mind at ease and to know I can hopefully finally put my head to rest and not spend so much time worrying about it. Dec 19 was the big day with Dr. Hasson. Day of the Surgery - December 19 2016 If this already wasn't one of the craziest days of my life, Vancouver decided to have its biggest snowfall in years overnight causing havoc on the roads. My appointment was at 7am, I left my place at 5:45am for a normallly 30 minute drive and ran into accidents all over. Already 30 minutes late, I ditched the car which was at a full stop for an hour due to the havoc ahead of me and ran to the skytrain where I took 3 skytrains and a 15min dash to the clinic. I ended up getting there, sweaty, at approximately 8:45am. Elena was great at coordinating with me and they were all very understanding the ill-timed act of god that gave me quite the adventure in the morning. I was worried about this affecting the speed of the surgery that they would rush but they assured me it would not. Luckily my blood pressure wasn't over the top so we proceeded to shave off my precious existing hair, first time I have had a buzz cut since I was a kid! We got right into the extraction process by 9:30/10am and aside from a small lunch break Elena was working her magic until about 4pm straight. The only thing that fell asleep were my arms from time to time I was I guess too excited to fall asleep myself, but the process was fairly painless. People talk about the anasthetic injections but they are not more painful than when you go to the dentist for a cavity. It was encouraging to hear my grafts were really high quality, I was aware the back of my head was very thick but this was reassuring. The convo was good with Elena and I was relaxed to a constant playlist of Kygo which I enjoyed. 4pm or so rolled around and it was time for Dr. Hasson to make his slits. We drew the hairline and I left it mostly up to him, he is the expert after all. My hairline was goign to be the same and essentially the grafts are just for the front density. Of course it is hard to not let my mind wander on what is the best for me in terms of the grafts where they should be placed and if they should be more spread out to the back or to bring my hairline a tingle lower but you gotta let the expert do his thing! Time will tell. I honestly thought I was going to need some in my crown, but after shaving it looks as though I got hair through it all which I was pleasantly surprised at. approx 1-2 hours of slits and anathesia and Dr. Hasson was out. He is an incredible guy and for how long he has been doing this, super understanding and kind (good sense of humor too!). Small dinner break and other than that the next 6-7 hours were putting the grafts in! I swear I finished about 1.5 seasons of brooklyn nine-nine on netflix while two ladies switched on and off putting grafts in. One of the nurses shoulders was super sore, and she was a trooper to fight through the pain. The overhead light was a little low as well and they kept hitting their heads/topbun on it. I was discharged at 12:45am with head bandaged up. So I guess me being late due to the weather did not compromise the time they put in to make sure the quality was good! I was happy to stay as long as needed and for them to take their time, I just felt bad for them. Towards the end my anathesia was wearing off so it started to get fairly painful. Almost was a trade-off as the needles were more painful to inject because the head was sensitive. The first sleep was uncomfortable I was just worried about staying straight up. Head was throbbing but a couple t-3's fixed that. I work from home so getting up at 7am the next morning to catch up on e-mails was challenging to say the least. It wasn't my most productive week of work lets say that. Days 1-5 after They fairly blend in. I went in for a wash by the clinic 4 straight days. The swelling in day 2-4 was at its peak and was f*cking hilairous. I laughed hard every time I looked at myself in the mirror. Despite my ear being in tact, it looked like I had gone 12 rounds with Tyson in his prime. Obviously being extremely careful each day to make sure I don't dislodge any graft I slept on my back each night which made sleeping pretty uncomfortable. Had some pain here and there, nothing that advil can't fix. I think the most challenging part honestly was coming up with excuses for family/friends why my parents and I couldn't spend Christmas with them or why I couldn't go to social events with my friends. Summary You get what you pay for, and for me in this life changing process it is important to go with the cream of the crop. Through the whole process, the doctors, nurses, Doug were all fantastic. I know this post is a bit of ramble, but it was past threads from people in my age range (trashpanda, N0Air, spidey) that made me feel more comfortable with this, so I hope I can do that for others. I am ALREADY getting impatient and nervous for the next 3 months with respect to the recovery process and to what my final result will be. If you have any further questions or comments feel free to post here or privately message me!

  7. Hello good people! I am new in the forum, although I have visited here occasionally as a guest for couple of years. I am 29 years old, started losing hair from a very young age (18 or 19) and never went through any long-term hair treatment. As you can imagine, after spending the golden years of my life wearing caps/hats, I am sick of it and planning for a hair transplant next year. So far, based on my research, I would probably go with Dr. Koray Erdogan in Turkey. 1. I would like to know your suggestions about what hair treatment to follow during this one year period before the hair transplant, in order to increase the density of the top-scalp or to keep the existing dinsity at the least. 2. Based on the photo attached, I would like to know your estimates on how much grafts I might need to get a decent result. (PS.- I have cut at the back of my head from childhood. I would like to fill it too) 3. I have Hemoglobin E disease. Will it be an issue to carry out the procedure? I would appreciate your independent opinion on this. Thanks guys. Have a nice day.

  9. Hi, I have just recently had a consultation with a hair transplant doctor who only performs FUE and he said i should have around 2500 grafts maybe even a little less and it should give me a "reasonable" desity. I am 30 years old and this is going to be my first surgery, im just a little worried that once its fully grown in 2500 wont be dense enough to look "normal" i am afraid that people may think im thinning. I have had smp treatment done twice now but i am completely over the look of it, i need hair again but i dont want to spend a ton of cash to make myself look like i did before i shaved it off and got smp. Ive marked where the hair line has receded too and am wondering how much density 2500 grafts will roughly give me? Any feedback will be appreciated.
  10. Hi i am considering fue procedure with a renowned hair transplant clinic. Plan is to have 2500 grafts for now & future procedure if needed. Based on pic provided, what should be my expectation? Only front 3rd portion will be used to place grafts. What portion will get full hair. Will it look weird when future hair loss happens. Am i even a good candidate for transplant as mine look like advanced stage of norwood chart. I am 35, not 5 of corse.
  11. Hi everyone. This is my first post so forgive me if I waffle on a bit. First of all just wanted to say that this has been a great help to me in learning about different surgeons and options when it comes to hair restoration. I am 27 years old and have been suffering with hair loss for about 9 years now. I caught it early with finasteride and minoxidil and they have slowed the progress but I think a surgery will really stop me worrying about this daily. I had a small surgery (probably premature) in 2011 with Dr Raghu Reddy at the private clinic in London. It was for approx 900 grafts in the frontal corners. This has given me a solid base to use hair fibres on and this is how I've been masking the hair loss for a while now. So I have been looking for a surgeon for around 6 months now. I am aware of some recommended ones who are in my price range. However my issue is knowing if they are quoting me for an appropriate number of grafts. I have had the following quotes Dr Koray Erdogan (online quote) - 5000 grafts Dr Nader Ebrahmimi ( face to face) - 5000 grafts Dr Tejinder Bhatti ( online quote) - 3000 grafts I am trying to strengthen my hairline and mid scalp. I would like to have good density in the frontal portion of my head. I am also looking for a touch up in the crown by as I don't see it in the mirror I don't mind so much. I feel like 5000 grafts is too much but I'd like some opinions if you'd be so kind. Thanks alot guys. I have attached some pictures but please have a look at my album 'Hair 2017' for more. ( I can only upload 4 here)
  12. I'm 30 years old and have been losing my hair since my early 20s. I use Nizoral everyday, 1%. I dont do any DHT blockers. I'm looking at getting a transplant but I don't know if my hair loss is too advanced to be worth it. How many grafts do you think I will need to have the illusion of full coverage with the recessions filled in? I was told I have excellent donor hair with 8000 + available before any noticeable thinning in donor region. I have fine light blonde hair which makers it even harder to see. Ive attached photos
  13. I am a 62 yr. old white female with hair loss mainly on top of my scalp, mostly towards front area. I have been losing hair since my 40's. I currently use hair powder like Joan Rivers Great Hair Day Powder or wigs. It is really hot in Texas and wearing a wig every day is very uncomfortable. I'm wondering about how many hair grafts I would need to fix my thin areas - attaching picture. Also would I be a better candidate for FUT or FUE?
  14. Hi everyone! I recently went through a hair transplant few months back in Delhi. I always wanted to post a thread showing my HT journey because I have benefitted a lot from others' on this great forum but unfortunately I couldnt get around to doing that earlier. But nonetheless, I would begin now. Better late than never. So, its 4 months now since my HT. It was about 4000 grafts FUE procedure on the heavily receded temples. I am attaching pictures : 3 pre-op, 1 day of op, 1 few days post-op and four 4-months post-op pics! Any advice or opinion or review is heartily welcome! Do guys think the hair growth is good enough at this point?
  15. Hi everyone. First post on the forum, glad to be here. Firstly apologies, no doubt my below question will have been asked previously. I'm currently on day 13 post op FUE after 2500 grafts on my frontal zone. Tomorrow (day 14 post op) I will be shampooing my recipient area for the first time, as per the instructions from my surgery. I still have quite a few scabs, and was wondering if it's okay to shampoo them and how to go about it. I don't want to damage or upset anything up there. I plan on using baby shampoo for the next couple of weeks. I look forward to your advice, best regards J
  16. So i had a hair transplant of 2192 grafts on Monday, Aug 29. Almost all were on the front of my head, temples, sides, etc. A few were placed in the back of my head where I am thinning in just a few spots. Last night, Sunday was six days later. I was scratching what I thought was just dried blood. As far as I know, only one graft came out. There was no bleeding but definitely a graft. I am very OCD and picked around on some dried bloody spots, mostly trying to not touch the graft or follicles. This went on for 15 minutes. But I am wondering if the bulb or whatever will make the hair grow fastest will stay in the head at day 6.5 if the graft is pulled out. I was pulling out what i thought was dried blood so it was pulling more than picking with fingernails. Again, i dont recall any blood. Please give me your best advice. I am done picking or pulling back there. Also, please don't be rude if respond! Thanks so much, BEN
  17. I've noticed the question coming up a lot about how long it takes after surgery for a graft to be completely secure, and based on the wide range of responses given, it seems that there is no definitive answer for this that is agreed upon. I've seen people giving answers ranging from 5 days, to 10, to 14, all the way up to even 9 months. I'm curious as to why so many doctors seem to have differing opinions on this, as it often seem like everyone is just pulling numbers out of thin air. I was told when having my procedure that the first 72 hours were the most crucial, and that after the 5th day, the grafts would be firmly in place (given that there was no excessive scabbing). The scabs were often what caused a graft to be dislodged, but that even then, it was only a risk up until day 9 after surgery. Thus, by day 10 post-op, I could relax and breathe easily and stress free, knowing that I was out of the woods. However, many guys come on the forum and are stressed out 2, 3, even 4 weeks out of surgery that they may have damaged their grafts. Given what seems to be lots of misinformation online and in the medical community, I understand why they seem to be so worried. Once I started seeing the large discrepancy on here about how long it took for the grafts to be anchored, I reached out to Dr. Mohebi about this. Dr. Mohebi then informed me that this is all based on a study done by Dr. Bernstein and Dr. Rassman where they set out to determine the definitive answer for this. According to the study, this is what they found: "The study showed that for the first two days, pulling on a hair always resulted in a lost graft, but the chance of the graft being removed started to decrease by the third day. By the sixth day pulling on a hair would no longer dislodge the graft. Pulling on an adherent scab always resulted in a lost graft through day five, with the incidence decreasing through day eight. However, by nine days post-op, grafts were no longer at risk of being dislodged." So that leaves me with this: Since the above time frame that I gave seems to be based on facts and research, where are the other numbers coming from? Are there other studies out there that show different results? Was there a study done that supports doctors telling patients they have to wait 9 months after surgery for their grafts to be secure? Why does there seem to be such a wide range of answers on what should be a seemingly scientific question? Do you think there's a way to come to a unified decision on this, or will there always be this large discrepancy? Interested in hearing other thoughts and facts on this matter. It seems to be a topic that causes way more confusion than I think it should.
  18. Hello everyone i'm new to this forum and i have already gained a ton of knowledge. I made an appointment for next week with a popular doctor (N.Y.) that has been mentioned many times on this site! I'm just wondering how many grafts you think i'll need for a nice hairline. (I'm 21 years old)
  19. I had my FUE surgery done on June 6th, 2014 by Dr. John Diep. Before selecting Dr. Diep as my surgeon, I did extensive research for about a year on FUE procedures and looked at many before and after videos. After viewing some of Dr. Diep's videos on youtube, I was instantly intrigued. I liked how detailed his videos were and how he explained everything in all of his videos because each patient/case is unique. I also loved the fact that he was active on youtube and posting RECENT videos of his work. This made me even more comfortable. I knew then I had found my surgeon! I flew in from Maryland and arrived in San Jose on June 5th. When I arrived at his clinic on June 6th, we were greeted with his staff which they were pleasant. They also asked what type of lunch I wanted as it was going to be a long day for me! I met Dr. Diep shortly afterwards and he explained to me everything that was going to go down. He then outlined my hairline and areas where he was going to do my work. After seeing this, I was excited to get this process started. After the procedure, he gave me some instructions of what to do in the coming days/weeks/months. The after pics are were taken today (7/4/2015). This is the longest I have let my hair grow since the surgery. Before I kept my hair cut low (1) so everything could look even while I was waiting for my new hair to grow. After a year, I can honestly say the surgery was a success! I told Dr. Diep I stare at my rear view mirror sometimes looking at my hairline...lol. It just feels good to have a straight hairline once again! For more information on his work or to get a consultation, visit: http://www.mhtaclinic.com/ For Videos of his work, visit: https://www.youtube.com/user/hairtransplantmd
  20. Info on me: Name: Jeremy Age: 32 Flew in from Maryland. Here are my BEFORE pics (taken day of surgery (6/6/2014) and the recent pics taken today (7/4/2015). On the recent pics, this is the longest I have let my hair grow since the day of surgery. Before then, I had kept it low at a 1 to give time for my implanted hair to grow. My last hair cut was 2 months ago. Every week since then, I have been getting more and more coverage.

Hi there, so 18 months ago I got 1000 grafts to my hairline. now I am going back to get another 300 free of charge as I felt that the hairline was a bit 'sudden' and looks to obvious in some lighting situations, and the front inch or so is too thin But any extra eyes could help me with this ie: what should I ask for? I am thinking that the hairline is too straight and the front inch too thin.... please view the album of images and tell me what you think... thanks for your help!
  22. I'm planning to go for FUE hair transplant, can someone tell me how many grafts you think I should need?
  23. Hi, I am 28 and i am seriously considering surgical hair restoration in the frontal area. I live in Philly suburban and I am willing to travel if need be but if can get a local physician that would save me a lot of travelling. But ofcourse, I prefer a clinic with guranteed results(and minimal scarring) over travelling. Also, I am not sure how many grafts I would need. I also experiencing thinning in the crown area. I am ok with a bit expensive (but a thorough procedure) rather than a subpar one(as eventually i would ending spending much more)..I am attaching the pics of mine to get a sense of what i need. Please advice.
  24. Hey everyone, first off thank you for taking the time for reading my concern. As the title states, it's day three and while I was sleeping, I involuntarily itched my recipient area. All grafts seem to be in place, however I'm concerned that I dislodged some. There are no signs of blood, however there is puss. I circled the area in the picture below. Did I just shoot myself in the foot? Many thanks. Mobi
  25. Hi guys, I've recently noticed that once in a while i see hair falling out with little white bulb falling out. It has been three months since my HT and it shouldn't be grafts. Please help. Hair graft or just hair?
