My opinion is that when you get low growth from a surgeon and the surgeon doesn't know what happened and you got low growth, then its a bit risky to go again to the same doctor since it may happen again if the surgeon did not find his fault.

To offer a free repair was the least that Dr couto could do on that case, because his patient lost valuable grafts and he has to suffer by doing a second repair surgery for a small problem which should have been finished in one surgery with no losses at all, especially for the high price he paid.

Anyway, i hope the OP solves his hair loss problem this time with no need for another procedure.

So are you saying that every single graft should ALWAYS grow if a surgeon/technician does a perfect implantation? Right? ... From your response, you are deliberately making the doctor and his team responsible for the poor growth... don't you think Dr Couto knows better?

As far as I know, poor growth may be due to many different variables, patient hair/skin characteristics, blood supply, patient post-op care or complications, etc... and yes, it could also be a bad job from a surgeon/technitian... but it's not something just related to the surgeon or the technician doing the job. By your response, I am not sure you knew about this.

World-class clinics and doctors obtain world-class recognition based on their HT experience, results, consistency, and care for their patients...Dr Couto and his team are among a selected group...  Now, just ask some of the greats like Dr Konior, Dr Bisanga, Dr Shapiro, Dr Zarev, Dr Sethi, Dr Hasson & Wong, to name a few, if they will guarantee a HT result ... I doubt any would do it.

From my experience, which I mostly got from this an other Hair Forums, every case is unique, and every case will have different challenges. A hair transplant's final result can never be guaranteed, even if you pay millions per graft.

Sometimes it's important to do some research before offering an opinion... if not, your opinion will look poor and negative without any foundation at all... and this Forum is the opposite of that.

Episode (month) IV: A New Hope

Lets get this breadddd gentlemen. Finally, we are feeling generally good about how the hair is looking day to day. Right up in the light, these pics are dry but post wash/no fibers or product. With utilizing the latter, I have no confidence issues hanging with friends, going on dates, even letting the mane get slightly damp if there’s rain afoot, etc.

I am actually like 10 days shy of my 4 month anniversary but posting now as I’ll be on vacation for that.

There’s definitely areas that need to continue to fill in, but looking at these pics compared to even last month has me really optimistic. Can’t wait to see what the next 8-12 months bring.

A big thank you for all the support/interest/love passed my way on this process so far. Holy sh*t that ugly duckling sucked, and everyone commenting their support/encouragement really helped me out. Y’all are dope and I hope everyone here finds their respective peace/joy with hair restoration/maintenance.

Bravo... that is coming out nicely already at just 4 months... let's be patient now and in another 4 more months you will be ready for a superb summer with new a new look : )

I paid the standard price, which I think is Bisanga does extractions and recipient prep, the rest of the time was the placements by two ladies.
I think there is the "Bisanga does everything" package which is a lot more, but seems kinda pointless when everyone is trained by him.
Dr Kostis was with another patient at the time, so I only saw him when signing forms and when I was leaving.

I'm just over two months in and basically 80-90% of the hair fell out a couple of days after my one month update.
All that's there at the moment is the native hair that was shaved into a little, which is awkwardly 1/3 the length of the untouched native hair.
Still very easy to hide and I rarely think about the procedure, I'm basically where I was pre-procedure which is "I really hate my hairline but everyone thinks I'm NW1".
So I'm just going to continue to forget about this and only assess what's cooking underneath when I do the month 3, 6, 9, 12 updates here.
I will say there is a tiny bit of tenderness about an inch above the recipient area that I notice when washing my hair sometimes, but that could be the minor nerve damage that can take 3-6 months to fully heal.
The donor area was very tender during the first week, but no problems since and I'm amazed at how untouched it looked within a couple of days.

Ian has sent me some pics taken immediately after the procedure, posting those here for the curious.
I didn't experience the really bad swelling until day 2, but looking at these pics, it looks like it started immediately.

I'll post some current pics for the month 3 update in 3.5 weeks time.

Thanks for sharing with such details... as from Dr Bisanga, extraction and design looks awesome... you will have a perfect hairline in no time : )

    12 month post op today!

It is still the best money I've ever spent. I don't look in the mirror and with an unpleasant feeling. Instead im just excited to style my hair every time.

I take finasteride EOD because im so happy about my hair now, and want it for as long as possible, and not worry about losing it. No sides. Also take vitamins.

Fresh out the shower with wet hair:

Love your result. Love Dr Bisanga, he is among the best.

@Mdc2021 and the photos you have been shared are gold to really understand and see what a hair transplant is about and what results should we expect depending on our hair characteristics... Thanks for sharing and detailing your adventure and thoughts. Time to enjoy : )

So I’ve grown my beard out a little bit as I’ll be using it as a donor source next week at Eugenix. Suddenly everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) at work keeps telling me I look great with a beard! Why now??? 🙄🫣😩🤣

Wow! You really look fantastic with a beard... and I am sure you will be able to keep doing that after your next procedure even if they take some from there. Keep those photos coming!

    Hello dear forum-friends,

I am posting with my heart full of hope, as I will soon leave to Madrid to touch up my first (unsuccessful) procedure with dr Couto. I am now 13 months post-op, as the first surgery was carried out in Jan 2022. For reference, you can find that thread here

So, tomorrow I will undergo another procedure, with him again to add the density that failed to stem from the first surgery.

    Backgroud:

After the 2000 grafts procedure, according to the Dr, my body failed to provide enough blood supply to the transplanted units, thus delivering low yield: the doc will assess the exact yield and needed grafts for this second surgery once I’ll be at the clinic. In my personal opinion my yield was about 30-35% (I am unsure tbh), but I hope he will bring some of his magic and not to need too many grafts, because I would like to keep some for future needs, should there be.

    Looking forward:

I decided to go again with dr. Couto because, despite the low growth of the first procedure he struck me as a very integer person and professional, who truly cares about his patients and their happiness, and whose skills are second to none.

I will update this regularly for your reference.

Attached is the 13 months post op situation that I hope dr. Couto will be able to fix🤞🤞

    Wish me luck!😄

Nice to see you will be doing a touch-up with Dr Couto, can't think anyone better than him... One thing, with the photos you post it we can not really see a real-life hair transplant result... I mean, camera is way too close and focusing on just a number of follicles ... to have a better idea of your overall result, could you post some photos with the camera at least 1 meters or so... and could you share some photos of your donor? ... Best of luck these days and thanks for sharing your experience.

I think in addition of having a recommended list, there should also be an avoid list or a scale where those at the bottom are obviously to be avoided. I had a really bad experience with a physician and would like others to avoid the same mistakes I made.

    Great Post here.

And @mavigo you have a great idea, it would be really helpful to have a list of clinics/doctors that we should avoid at all costs... Also, could you share the name of the doctor and the clinic where you had the bad experience?

Can any one show an example of beard hair to head results ? I Have a thick beard and was thinking about using it to fill in a thin donor spot from a bad transplant a few years back? Please attach some similar cases , or drop your opinion.

    Thanks!

Have you done your own research to find the best Doctors that could do BHT at this moment? Could you share it with us?

For sure Eugenix could be the leader of this option right now but it would be great to have a bunch of clinics that could do this.
